Hi people. Long time no post...at least, 3 weeks or so is a long time on T2J.......impossible to catch up on all the posts.

Clarky; the guitar lessons are great, even I can understand what you're talking about! (So far......)

Phyr Dom...I cant seem to download Java correctly & access chat...any ideas?

September 18........Anniversary of Jimi's departure .The world was a very different place in 1970, but Jimi still tops the polls of best guitar players....

For Adun: thanks for reading! It s always nice to know that someone is.....btw, bonghits was there before me too.....

michelle...I think I agree with you about the eyelids thing(although mine was double trouble, so must have hurt twice as much!!)

jblaze1: I guess I will have to add my name to this poll, but somehow I dont think Joe's going to employ anyone from here.....we'd all want jobs if he did!! (but good luck anyway.....)

Phyr Dom: wassup mate? You seem a bit down...sorry to hear about the dole. No move then? The new job's going great, btw.

PhyrDom: sorry to hear that. I was thinking maybe it was all my fault for telling you to say whatever you had to say..........aarrrggghhh!!!!!

jblaze1..yes, chocoholic(great name!) has got a point : for instance, suppose while you were guarding the guitars you were overcome with an irresistable urge to pick one up and play it....what would you do???!

Also, you realise you would have to sign the official satch secrets act & never come on here & tell the inside story.....are you sure you still want the job?!!

holy sh*t!!! We had an EARTHQUAKE in London last night!..Actually, the centre was somewhere near Birmingham, 100 miles away, but at 1AM, I felt my bed shake, & thought there was a poltergeist in the room!!Anyone else feel it?!!

Sorry Non-Smoker..I can honestly say thats the first time I've felt I really needed one in ages.....it just didn't occur to me that maybe this was just another old earthquake(we don't get them here!!) Hope I don't get hooked again....

Just thought I would pop by to say hullo...been a long time.

Don't have time to read all the posts, in fact, I think that may be just as well. Things seem to be getting a bit heated in here lately....just a thought, maybe some people have too much time on their hands!

I think all this swearing etc is deeply disrespectful to Joe...would you walk into his house and use the language you use on here?(I won't be specific, but you know if the cap fits wear it....)

Also, would you disrespect his friends and their views? I don't think so.

This site seems to draw out the best and the worst in people..it never ceases to amaze me.

PhryDom:

Thanks for your explanation. Sorry if I sounded off about the swearing issue.

This new job has kept me so busy that I haven't been able to keep up to date with all the posts, so I kind of lost track & came in at the end of all that stuff. I've had a chance to read up what led up to it, & not wanting to disturb any sleeping dogs, I must admit the fruit loops thing was quite funny & didn't warrant the tirade that followed!

As for the B.O.P........well, I don't suppose we'll ever know the truth, but there is room to doubt the identity of the author....nuf said!!!

Make the most of your unemployment....working doesn't leave time for any of this!!!It's a shock to the system!!

This site has always been a fun place...lets keep it that way! BFN

chocoholic:

you know, there's only one solution.....more chocolate!!!

drafter 37:

I have the same problem. I'm in a new job, and I resisted the temptation for 7 weeks...then today I gave in, & had 7 weeks to catch up on.............! How to explain those hours away!

Hello T2J

Clarky:

after you started your theory posts I couldn't pick my guitar up for 2 months!

However, I now understand why D# is sometimes Eb, & I never knew you could have a B# or E# before......(that's as far as I've got!)

chocoholic:

don't take AVARICE too seriously!

jblaze1: Congrats on the pad, sounds great! Things are going your way.....job as guitar guard next?!

That's me for now.

Bye everyone.

Clarky:

Just to let you know I totally agree with your views on religion. I was brought up RC, & lapsed, like many people. A few years ago I "defected" to C of E thinking I would find a more enlightened bunch. I was invited to join the worship group, and played lead guitar in the church for nearly three years. When I was introduced to Buddhism, my vicar made me choose, with no compromise, telling me that Buddhism was "devil worship"!!! So I was "expelled" from the worship group ( after being told that you couldn't practice Buddhism and be a "leader of Christian worship".).... What a pity church people are so narrow minded!

(I was also expelled from my school choir when I was 14 for encouraging a group of friends & me to sing an "alternative" version of Handel's Messiah.........at the same time as the main choir.....but I guess that was warranted!!...)

All religions are built around the words or actions of one individual, who has acheived enlightenment...usually by rejecting the creed of the day, and found their own way to"God". Religions are all man-made institutions geared to a particular culture & time in history, designed to help the individual find their way...but unfortunately most become corrupt somewhere along the line. The Vatican being among the most wealthy intitutions on earth.......etc, etc.

As far as I know, Buddhists have never started any wars..(but I may be wrong.)

For Adun:

Your words: "...you can't be Christian AND Buddhist. They are mutually exclusive. It's like voting for Labour AND Cons. (I assume you're English?) How can you "have no other god but Me" and be a practicing buddhist too? How can you be alive AND dead at the same time?"

well......I think you've hanged yourself with your own words..

As a Christian (and I assume you are?) you must believe in life after death? Therefore, you can be physically dead, but spiritually alive at the same time...(or vica versa..)

As for the politics, I think we should leave that debate for another time...that's a whole new argument!

Yes, I was forced into a decision, but I felt the vicar was wrong was in his total condemnation of anything other than HIS religion.

According to the traditional Christian view, there is no other way, and that is what I found so narrow minded . Doesn't Islam feel the same way about THEIR God? Isn't this why the wars start?

Many Buddhists have had a Christian upbringing, but needed to find a more real way to put principles and beliefs into action.

I apologise if I have offended anyone.

Natsa:

One of the reasons I left the Church was because I realised that most of the people there were just as confused about their faith as me.

I asked questions that nobody could answer. I had problems that nobody could help me with, because they were not equipped to do so.

When I met the Buddhist Group, not only did I meet people on my wavelenghth who had open minds and could discuss anything, and offer answers to life and death, but also they were kind and compassionate in a way that I had not experienced among Church folk.

Again, sorry if I disrespect your views, that is not intended. I can only talk from my own experience.

Hi Joe, Hi fans. Its been a long time since I posted here, & sorry don't have time to read all the posts! Greetings to anyone who remembers me: Clarky, Barry. PhyrDom, jblaze..anyone else..& HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. Joe, sorry to hear about your illness. Hope you are resting & getting well. I have a little story to tell: I spent 5 days after Christmas at our Buddhist centre in Trets, in the South of France. No TV, no papers, no radio. We knew about the tragedy, but not the extent. The shocking stories I read on the way home made me weep, and thank God that my daughter & her boyfriend had returned safely from India 2 weeks before. Anyway, while at Trets, as well as chanting for World Peace and discussing Buddhahood, we always manage to have an evening of entertainments, and there is always an assortment of talented people. I took my guitar, and had decided a while back that I really wanted to perform "I Believe" as I think it is the most beautiful song with words that you have written. Also, the words seem to be very appropriate both to the theme of the course and also to the current world situation. Particularly the words of the chorus are so powerful: "I believe we can change anything, I believe we can rise above this"..etc. Luckily I met another guitarist there who agreed to do the song with me, and we practiced for 3 days before performing it on New Years Day. The audience of 150 Buddhists were spellbound. So many people came up to me afterwards and said.."that's such a beautiful song, did you write it?" "Unfortunately, no." I replied, " I wish I had!" "Who wrote it?" "Joe Satriani". "Joe who?" "Joe Satriani, best guitarist in the world" "Hmm, never heard of him. What album is it from?" "Flying in a Blue Dream" "Where can I buy it?" "Well, any decent music store......." "OK, write it down for me...." That converstaion was repeated dozens of times......so if there's a run of orders for FIABD you will know why! I was so happy that I brought Joe Satriani to that beautiful peaceful place in the mountains, where the sun shone and the air was clean, and that I introduced a few more people to your music. Maybe one day you will visit there in person. Thankyou for the music which just carries on and gets better each year. Please be well & stay safe. Best wishes to all fans for 2005. Till next time.

Hi anibur...still rocking?! Hi Clarky...I'm still here.....2001 recovering from serious illness...then 2002,3 & 4...just working hard & getting well! Last year I was disciplined for too much time spent on the internet at work, so I had to cut that out! Still playing, still jamming ....years rolling on by...maybe meet up again at the next Satch concert, hopefully (if I can find the Walkabout this time, that is) Got the latest G3 DVD for Christmas, but I haven't caught up with the T2J CD yet......if you watch the Steve Vai live at the Astoria very carefully at the end you will see me & my friend Nicolette in the second row.....! I have my JS hat on..... Doing some studying for work this year, so won't have much time to pop in here, but will try from time to time. Bye for now.

Clarky: I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001...luckily it was caught very early, but still required major surgery. I'm all clear now, & hope to be going strong for a few years to come. It was a turning point when I discovered how many people cared about me, and I realised that nothing is really worth worrying about as life is the most precious thing, and we should treat each day as our last. Recent events have shown...you never know when your time's up, so you must value & enjoy every day. Don't bear grudges & treat your family as precious. Well that's todays lesson! I can't remember if you met Nico...very good guitarist. Maybe we can all get together for a jam sometime in the future! Must go to bed.....bfn.

Well, Tuesday has come & gone....too quickly. I was hoping to make Bournemouth too, but not this year.

A few gripes...I wasn't too impressed with Hammersmith Apollo. Upstairs the sound wasn't too good, and people were coming & going all the time (checking the football score?)...Also, I had a very tall guy in front of me who kept blocking my vision. Eventually, I went to sit on the stairs & just started to get into it, when it was suddenly over all too soon!!

Just one more lttle gripe....I loved the sustained note, but missed the Raspberry Jam!!! I did manage to ask Joe later, & he explained. of course, they can't play everything...but it sounds as though B'mouth maybe got some jam!! (Should have made the trip....)

OK, gripes over. It was a great night, as always. Made even better for meeting Satriella, Hrh Fish (thanks for arranging the pub meeting!)...and of course Clarky! Plus all you other guys whose names I can't remember, the crazy crowd who go to every Joe concert.....

We had to wait around quite a while to meet Joe on the after show passes, but who cares, when we had a lot of fun, and of course the lovely Jeff chatting to us also.

Joe...if you read this, what can I say that hasn't been said already. Thanks for taking the time & trouble to chat to fans when you must be exhausted after the gig. You never cease to amaze, both musically & as a person. I hope to be able to meet you again someday.

One suggestion...maybe one classic number from each album included in future set-lists? I know you listen to what your fans have to say.

Clarky...well done for Joe listening to your music...for one horrible moment I thought he was going to sign the CD and pass it back to you (he was just putting your name on it!) How amazing is that!!

Hungry for more now. When's the next show?

Bye for now.

ps. Sylvie...if you're on this site, Clarky never got my text on Tues!

Satriella....You're crazy! ...(But in a GOOD way....!)

One thing I noticed at Hammersmith is that the audience has really changed. My first Satch concert was Wembley 1998(?), and the audience were mainly young, geeky looking guys(sorry blokes!)

Hardly a female to be seen.

At Hammersmith there were LOADS of women, + all ages visible. I knew that one day Satch would become more mainstream. They will probably be teaching it in Junior schools in 20 (?) years time.....

Joe...I love you. Thankyou for being so lovely and approachable.

Later guyz.

ps.Did any of you guys get to the Derek Trucks concert in London?.....AWESOME player!

Captain Steve: When I said "mainstream" I guess it was the wrong word....what I meant was more appreciated by a wider audience. Joe's music will never be"middle of the road"....you're right ....maybe all the original fans are just turning on their wives, children, aunts & grannies to the music! (Nice to know people actually read these posts!! :)
