Good Afternoon Satchland...... How Are you guys?

It's really hot in Chi-Town. All week as a matter of fact. In the 90's all week. I don't remember when it's been this hot for so many days in row. I can't wait to hear about Com Ed's quarter losses. It usually comes after record highs for the Month. LOL.....Imagine that.

Band update...... If you remember last time I was going out the door to audition a Rythm Section when I got the call the bass players car was stolen from the train station. Well, we've rescheduled for Tues of this coming week. I'm psyed. Also, I was email yesterday from another Rythm Section interested. So I'm feelin' good about the oppertunities that lay ahead. The one bassist that was in Liquid Soul called and said he can't commit to anything right now. He's to busy with to many other bands. So that's were I'm at.

Mari..... Thanks for your kind words. They mean a lot to me. When OSHA is done with the investigation I'll let everyone know the official cause of death of Todd and his employee. Sounds like you're gearing up for another great show. Have fun and be careful. How's Steven doing? Any updates?

ka girl..... Glad to see you're training again. Keep reaching for the top of the mountain. I guess in your case the bottom....lol !!!!!! Take care.

Where's Nola?

When will the T2J CD be available for purchase? I know there's still a lot of work yet to do. But.......

Have A Great Day Everyone !!!!!!

VFRocker...... I'm happy for you. It must be a great feeling . Good luck to you guys. Ever hear of the band Indigenous. They play Blues/Rock and are American Indians. They're all family. Mato is the older brother and plays guitar and sings. Wnadi is the sister and plays drums and the bass player is brother Pte. Talk about tight. How great that must be. I have 3 bros. and 1 sister. Things were great when we were young. Let's just say jeolousy and greed took over. End of story.

Cheese..... Glad the party went great. At 84 she does sound cute.

Mari...... Thanks for the kind words and the update on Steven. I'll let you know what happens at the audition. Got another email from a drummer today. Fine by me ...keep em comin'. How's your Vodka suppy?...lol....

Stevee T..... I agree. I liked cauliflower up untill Michelle's post...lol....

Good Morning Satchland..... How Are WE Today?

Please don't go to Florida to swim.

Stevee T..... I see Stevee has a new toy. Awesome !!!!!. I don't much about the 2488. I do know if it's a Tascam is got to be good. I had (going back to "78") a Tascam 234 syn cassette. This was pre Porta studio days. It was a two track cassette player/recorder. From there I bought the first porta studio model ....Tascam 144, then went the 246, then the 8 trk rack model( 688 maybe?) the Adat and now Pro Tools LE. Tascam stuff is awesome. I had one of there analog boards for years. I loved that stuff. So how do you like it? What features does the 2488 have? Is it a all in one box with cd burning? What was your recorder before the 2488? I read somewere Bruce Springsteen had recorded a cd in a pro studio and didn't like the sound. He bought a porta studio...did the cd in his living room and that's what was released. Amazing. I love technology and if I had the money I'd be the biggest gear slut you'd ever know. Anyway, I'm happy for ya'.

Band update.... Audition tonight. I'm psyed. I got a email from another rhythm section. These guys played with a well know Blues singer in the Chi-Town area named Deb Sietz. I'm sending them a cd to rehearse to. I'll let you know what happens. It's funny..... You wait and wait and all of sudden the sky opens and these rhythm sections start pouring down on me. Cool.....

Have A Great Day Everyone.

Stevee T....... Happy 1700..... Like I said Tascam stuff is awesome. A pair of powered speakers and you got a 24trk studio at 24bit that fits under your arm. You gotta love that. I love technology. Speaking of..... consider this..... When Adat hit in the early "90's" one Adat was around 4k (give or take)...now the HD24 is 24trk for $1500. Now that's technology. Sounds like you got a winner. I don't think you'll be running out of tracks soon. If you do ...... well I just gotta hear that song. Have fun.

Ohhh....I just finished watching the web cast again. JOE....YOU ARE THE MAN..... Just an incredible display of musicianship. Awesome !!!!!!!!

Good Morning Satchland. How are you guys?

michelle....... I don't know of anyone who likes Dentists. A neccessary evil I guess. I hope eveything went well. My son Sean just had his wisdom or baby teeth removed. He's been eating soup, pasta, jello all the soft shit you can eat for the last week. He didn't want to get a dry socket 'cause he was told that's more painful then getting the teeth removed. Och !!!!! He sees the dentist today for the follow up. Later......

Band update...... I went to the audition last night. The drummer was good. He could be a bandmate...no problem. The bass player after having the practice cd for 2 weeks didn't know one song. Not good. We ended up playing songs that we all knew. Needless to say I'm still searchin. I'll keep you posted.

I got my Bias SoftSoap update cd last night to go from SoftSoap 1 to 2. I'll be in my lab tonight striping noise from tracks. I'm doing a little project for an old friend. He resurected a old cassette mix of us in a band 30 yrs. ago. SoftSoap works great for removing noise and hum from tracks. The tape needed so much noise reduction it quashed the dynamics out of the recording. SoftSoap 2 has the ability to bring these dynamics back. This was a common complaint from the first version. We shall see........

Have A Great Day

michelle...... Thanks for the well wishes for Sean. Ya.... When Sean got back from the dentist he wasn't really in a lot of pain. He couldn't talk and had to write everything down for the first day anyway. He was more pissed about the soft food thing and the uncomfortableness( man that's a long ass word) lol...... Sean has my appetite when I was in my 20's. I'd come home from workin' concrete all day and Woof !! I mean Woof !!! three cheese burgers(chips, no fries, Pepsi ,no Coke).Ahhh!! those were the days.

Thanks also for quoting my quote. Mari still has the best quote of the day at T2J. Please let me take you back:

"Moat Digging Big Bird Saves House" ! ROTFLMAO !! Wish I coulda seen that one sister !! You are one brilliant Mcguyver girlie !! I love it so. I almost pissed myself writing this.

Mari ..... I got this email from Alligator in Chi- Town. Thinking of you. Check it out:

Hard-rocking blues-soaked guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Tinsley Ellis is celebrating his return to Alligator Records with his brand new, first-ever live album release, LIVE--HIGHWAYMAN, with a performance on Friday, July 8th at Satalla in New York City.

Ellis made five critically acclaimed albums for Alligator between 1988 and 1997 (GEORGIA BLUE, FANNING THE FLAMES, TROUBLE TIME, STORM WARNING, FIRE IT UP). Now he's back on Alligator in 2005 with the incendiary, high energy LIVE--HIGHWAYMAN.

Ellis attacks his music with rock power and blues feeling, and his live shows feature extended fretwork filled with melodic and rhythmic experimentation. Atlanta magazine declared Ellis "the most significant blues artist to emerge from Atlanta since Blind Willie McTell."

Come see why everyone raves about Tinsley Ellis and his super-hot live shows--don't miss this performance!

Friday, July 8th Satalla 37 W. 26th St. New York, NY www.satalla.com 8:00 pm $15 advance / $20 at the door

I never saw Tinsley but I heard is shows are red hot. One thing nice about attending a live recording. You can yell something and be imortalized instantly. Like the Allman Bros. LIve at the Fillmore. One fan yells out "Play all night" and another before "Whipping Post" a fan guessed the song and Gregg Allman aknowlages it 'Live" That album is 30yrs. old. See what I mean. Go for it.

Good Morning Satchland...... Howdy Peeps.....

mari..... your abSOULutly right on. No one will ever replace Stevie. His legacy will go on forever just like Hendrix. These flames will never die out and will stand the test of time. FOR SURE !!!! I'm pschyed for three Joe Bonamassa shows comin' up. There's two this month and one in Sept. The Sept. show will be Joe along with Kenny Wayne backing up the man himself: Mr. B.B. King for his 80th birthday in Dekalb,Il. I'll have to bring a oxygen bottle to help me breathe for that one. LOL !!!!!

Zenfish...... I'm a huge SRV fan and love Blues/Rock. Please check out my site. I feel we have a respectable version of "Texas Flood" on the media page. It's an old line up but I guess that's not the point. Audtioning a new line up next week. Anyway, Here's the link. Let me know what you think. http://www.thebluesmavericks.com

Zenfish....... Thanks for the critique. The night we recorded that show was a mild stone and a catapult for me. The band was only togather for eight weeks and it was the first time I ever sang lead and fronted my own band. Plus the show was on my mom's birthday( the day after Christmas). She passed away about 9 yrs. ago.(7 yrs. when the show was recorded) This was a very emotional night for me. All this means is I let it all out during "Texas Flood"...I even shed a tear as I was jammin' the solo. So what I'm saying is that's where I was mentaly at the time. If you saw the DVD of the show you'd see this unfolding. Mari has seen the DVD and I think she would agree. But any critique weather good or bad helps. I thank you for taking the time to go to my site and comment on my playing. I know what you're saying and take no offence. That's just where I was at the time. Not an excuse..... just an explanation. Thanks again

Zen...... I think that's a great analogy:Hendrix the explosion. SRV the implosion. What can you say more about Hendrix then whats already been said. It's rare that you see musicians have complete control over there instruments. Henrix did and so does Satch. I mean these guys can do what ever they want when they want. B. B. King said basiclly the same thing about Stevie. B.B. said Stevie had this open channel in which the music comes out without thinkin' about what you're doing. It just flowed and admitted he didn't have it and really Stevie was the only one that did. It' true.

Kenny Wayne as a Stevie clone?I think that's media hype. I have Kenny's first two CD's and love them both. He's a gifted player and still young. But Stevie clone? I saw Kenny on the G3 tour and he was great. He seems to get a lot of help with his writing. He has as many as 5 people listed as writers and none of them are in his band. Well, Noah(his singer)is listed on some.

Robben Ford..... I've heard of Robben for years but honestly haven't heard his material and shame on me for that. I did hear his recent release is a Blues jem. Have you heard it yet?

Now, the creation's cycle requires a new explosion. If the cycles exist???? How about Blues Shred? If done right ... with enough feeling and shredding...but don't lose the feel 'cause Blues is all about feeling. I think that could be the next cycle. Satch touches on this and so doesYngwie. I know I'm crazy right?

Good Morning Satchland....... How are you guys?

Spizzaz..... How did your National Anthem go? When will the video be up on your site?

Zen...... Sorry for taking so long for a response. You have a very interesting view on the Blues and the players who have such a huge impact with this genre. I agree with you 100%. I'm still trying to find my own voice. I love what Satch does and his approch to guitar. But I can't turn my back on what I feel when I play or hear a great Blues player. I want bits of both and mix it up to be me. So I'm going after Instrumental Rock Blues/Rock approch. Is this wierd ? or should I focus on Blues/Rock 'cause I feel this more? I guess that's were the Blues/ Shred idea comes from.

Suzie 2000.......May you have Peace in London. Cindy has been teaching for about 17 yrs. She is the lead ESL teacher at her school. She teaches the Hispanic kids English. She loves it and has been at this school for 8 yrs.

No official word on the gas that killed our friend Todd.

Good Afternoon Satchland How are you guys?

Had a banner weekend. Took Fri off work to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday at his home in Wisconsin. It was a fantastic time. An outdoor event on the lake with perfect weather. It was great to be there. My dad and I have had a rocky relationship all my life but I put that all behind me to be there and I'm glad I did. When we left Sun. he gave me a hug thanked Cindy and I for commin'. Those few seconds I'll relive for a long time and was deffinetly worth the trip just for that moment.

Stevee T....... Another Gregg Howe lesson. Wow !!!!! So what did you learn? What does he have you workin' on?

Spizzaz...... How'd the National Anthem Go?

Mari.... Sorry about no heads up on the Bonamassa show in Rochester. He played in Philly last week also. Cindy and I are on the guest list for his July 23rd show at Chord On Blues in St. Charles, Il.. We'll be able to meet him and I'm giving him the DVD that I sent you. It's going to be great. I can't wait. It sounds like EJ was awesome. You also have a busy schedule seeing bands. That's cool !!!! At my dad's I looked at the old menu of my Uncle's restuarant and there was no address listed. It just said next to bay bridge in boone county or something with a b for the county name. I should of wrote it down. Is this enough info? If not I'll call my dad and have him read me what the menu says. I'll write it down this time. I'm curious to see if or what is there now.

Band update..... The Thursday audition went great. I think I found my rhythm section. After a year and half....about time.

Todd update.....I talked with my mother and father in law at my dad's. There's still no official report on the gas that killed Todd. The line at the wake was so long..... the last person to talk to the family and pay there last respects was at 11pm. It was a 3 hr drive to the funeral home from our home. Cindy and I got there at 3pm..... Paid our respects and drove home and was in bed sleeping before the last person in line. That's amazing. Todd was amazing. A great tribute and farewell to him.

Satch..... How are you? the family and band? Any thing to share about the new cd? Talk to us. Lets see some blue !!!!!!! Thanks Joe for everything.......

Have A Great Day Everyone !!!!!!!

Good Afternoon Satchland.......

I'm pages behind...... Sorry. I sorta skimmed through the posts. I haven't read the posts in detail about the the T2J CD so I'm most likely talking out of my ass. I'm kinda disappointed hearing things hear and there about musicians being pissed off about the project. Has anyone ever thought about what Joe would think if he found out? CHECK YOUR EGO OUT AT THE COMPUTER KEYBOARD. This is a tribute cd to the genious of Joe. It's not a pissing contest 'cause Joe can piss the longest and hardest out of anybody. Let's take into consideration of what this cd is all about. Joe fans paying tribute to the man himself...JOE SATRIANI. I mean we come to this site 'cause of Joe, you developed the project 'cause of Joe. We all have friends from all over the world from this site 'cause of Joe. The winners are getting well deserved exposure 'cause of Joe and his influence on us all. The guys behind the cd have worked tirelessly on not one but two projects. Let's keep our eye on what the cd is all about and stop bitchin' about petty shit. I have to go. My ass is sore from talkin'.....LOL

michelle...... Thanks for the pic. The old saying...... A picture is worth a thousand words. The pic says it all. That had to have been awesome to witness. Typical Joe shaking hands with the fans and most likely thanking everyone.

on a sadder note.....

My mother in law sent me a news paper article in relation to Todds death. This is not the official OSHA findings. The apparent cuase of death of both men: lack of oxygen in the manhole. They were 8 to 10 feet down with no venilation. Dead air. No gases. That explains no oder and the man in the manhole Todd went after grabbing his chest and stating " I can't breathe". To make things worse the Company is going out of business. A senseless accident that could have easily been avoided if proper measures were considered. Todd. Why?.........

Edit... Happy 200th Post To Me !!!!!!!
