Steven Wilde There is no "overnight" delivery to this area. I found that out when I ordered somesthing that was sent "Next Day Air" took 3 days. If you sent something monday, it should be here today or tomorrow.

I think Stephanie just ate yucky school food for breakfast. They served Bagel Ham & Cheese this morning with milk and orange juice. AFTER she had a bowl of cereal here at home!

Let me know if you need anything. When I'm rich and famous LOL I will pay you back. I give stuff away sometimes too, but not often. I bought a ham radio at the pawn shop for $40 knowing a friend of my wanted one. I ended up giving it to him as a Christmas present. He has been out of work for a while.

Sometimes someone gives me a broken vcr or something, then I fix it and give it away.

I like fixing stuff.

I like your cd idea. I'll have to put my nose to the grindstone and try to make some songs for you. I don't want to be famous, just play like Joe. Well, not play LIKE Joe, just as good as him. :<)

Did you say you never heard Phil Keagy? You should, he is good. And he is missng fingers!

Michelle Thanks for good health wish for Stephanie.

I got gass for my Datsun pickup truck today... $2.379 per gallon!!! That was for only 87 octane! I only put 10 Dollars in. :<)

Steven Wilde I read the manual, played with the controls....I have to go to Radio Shack tomorrow to get 1 or more High Speed CDRW disks. I have some 4X speed CDRW, but the machine wants the High Speed type.

Thanks, it is a cool machine. I can play with it after I get some proper CDRW's.

Steven Wilde I bought my 25 pack of High Speed CDRW's. About $20.00 . Now to tinker...

AussieRGman Does your sound work for any prog on your laptop? What version of Windows are you using? Look for the volume control program and see if something is muted.

If that does not work, my laptop had a function in the bios to turn the sound off or on. To get to BIOS, you usually have to hit the Delete key or F1 key right after you turn it on (wait for word to appear on the display). I just keep hitting the key until I see the BIOS screen come up.

Michelle I am sorry to hear about your family's loss. I did not know. I am just too new here to know.

Steven Wilde Played with the multitracker a little today. Checked out the different effects. Pretty cool. I'll have to see if I can make my own settings for custom effects. First I'll try to make some songs (mainly the T2J song).

Good night everyone here in T2J Land! (Voice of Jimminy Cricket singing) "When you wish upon a 'Stary night'... "

AussieRGman Is the DVD "region 1"? Not sure what DVD region Australia is in. I use Power DVD that came with my DVD Burner. Sorry bout your mum. That sucks. My mom died last year. She was a chronic alcoholic, and ended up in a rest home. My dad died Easter 1993.

Steven Wilde Tried recording, but I think the CDX-1 does not like my CDRW I bought. They are Philips brand High Speed, 700 Mega Bytes (80 minutes). They will format, but if I turn it off or eject, the thing says "unknown disc".

I checked the Roland web site, they recomend other brands to use and not to use. Philips was nt on either list. Trying my 3rd FULL format. Hope it works, or I'll have to find a different brand/size of CDRW.

Take care.

Estrela Praise God on your new job!!!

Steven Wilde I finally got one of the CDRW to work only after recording a track (2 actually, stereo) and saving the song. It loads the disk now. Now if I could only figure out how to edit the tracks to remove silent parts, like the 5 second space at the beginning. Right now I guess I'll have to play it to my Computer, then record it back to a new track. I tried to bounce a portin of the track, but the whole track bounced.

Jazzzy[ I heard the sounds of hell on the "Art Bell Show" which comes on late evenings on AM radio stations. Art Bell is in the High Desert of Nevada, his studio is at his house! I was driving around as a security guard late at night, all alone when I heard it!!! Freaky. Good thing I have the Holy Spirit in me! I had to stop and pray, then all fear left me. Just like that. "Greater is He (God) that is in me, than he (Satan) that is in the world"

Gotta go, kids to school, me to Radio Shack for cables... :<)

Steven Wilde Glad you are ok. Just took couple days off from guitar to let my calouses get hard. Fingers were getting sore! Got something on my CDRW now. Could be the intro. Could be the chorus. Might be the whole song. Have not decided.

I have a rhythm part recorded. In my head I have the bass line, and I have played around with some impromptu leads. Just can't make up my mind yet.

I was going to do "Rachel's Song", the song I made up years ago for a good friend before her fatal accident. I loved here and wanted to marry her some day. She gave her all to God, not bothering with dating. How can anyone compete with that? And I was not jealous, either, I was so proud of her. She realy was honest with me, and devoted her personal life to God. I figured I could wait for her.

It actually took me a couple of years to tell her how I felt, and she told me she thought I loved her (I acted weird around her?), but wondered what took me so long to finaly tell her. I am usualy a patient person.

Any how, I want to take more time with "Rachel's Song", so it is on the back burner for now. Also, I do have a loving wife that I love very much. She is the only one for me now. The living stay with the living. Some day I will see Rachel again in Heaven, until then I go on. She was a good friend, and I am better from her example.

Alway care for others, and you will be cared for. :)

Estrela and everyone else, take care, hope to share my music with all of you, and here yours, on this new T2J CD, and after. Gotta go, I'm missing Battle Star Galactica on Sci-Fi Channel!

Saturday the power was out for hours, so no recording. Hopefully the power stays on this week so I can finish recording my song. Lots of wind and rain here! And possible thunder/lightning. Too many hills and close mountains for tornadoes here, just high winds. Will have bad weather all this week.

Well, need to plug everything back in. Later guys.

Steven Wilde Waiting for the rain today. Looks bad, but no drops yet. Kids had fun at the local Easter egg hunt in McKinleyville. We got lots of exercise today! We are goin to my mother-in-law's house tommorow for Easter (we always do). She lives in McKinleyville, about 10 minutes from our apartment.

Argggg! I am Still hashing out my tune. I keep re-recording tracks. I can't find the right sound yet, and the different "instruments" tend to drown each other out (Muddy?) .

I am still working on the lead guitar part, almost there. Made some progress thursday and friday, actually have some sort of melody to go with the rhythm parts. I started playin today, but lost my groove. Just wasn't happening this morning. My right forearm is getting tight (need to lay back on the speed picking?) ... I might just start over on all the tracks now that I have practiced more. Maybe this evening will be better and I will have a finished song. :<)

Well, I have till monday 3-28-2005 right? Hope I get it done before.

Happy Easter everyone!

death cube k Any particular size limit on the mp3 files (in mega bytes)? I plan on sending one encoded at 256k bitrate (way better than the usual 128kb).

My song so far is going to be 5 minutes 30 seconds, that is about 10.5 Megabytes large. Just hashing out the lead, then I send it. It is about 8:45 PM here in California. What time zone are you in? What time is the cut off?

I hope I send it in soon enough. Gotta go finish my song. Bye.

DCK Yeah!!! I finally mixed a resonable impression of a song. Thanks for responding to my last post. I had to email a smaller mp3 anyhow, 256kb was rejected by your (or mine?) email server because it was too large. I have Cox Cable Digital Internet (over my tv cable) .

I sent you a 128kb mp3 instead. I had to edit it on my pc because I was not happy with the mix/EQ from the multitracker, and that way I could also record the drum machine from my multitrack (the drums wouldn't record to the mixdown track). I think I did better in the old days with a cassette recorder :<)

I just ran the line-out from my multitracker (thanks Steven Wilde) to my pc's sound card, then saved it as an MP3 using an plain-old shareware audio editing software.

Someday I will figure out the effects on my MT better, or just use an external distortion pedal.

Hi Joe!

Goodnight everyone.

Steven Wilde I just read your problem about coverting CD to MP3. Wish I could just drive down there and help. I have used Music Match Jukebox before, but I like CDEXE better, it is FREEWARE, so you can redistribute it or modify it (if you know how).

I can put a cd in, it reads the tracks, thenm I just go up to the CONVERT menu to "export songs to a compressed audio format". Then I select stereo, the appropriate bitrate (128kb, 160kb, 192kb, etc) then it goes to work.

Want me to mail you a cdrom with programs? I can also give you links to download.

Here is CDEXE download place. Quote from the README.TXT file from my CDEXE150 install.

" Cdex is a is utility which can extract Digital Audio (DA) tracks from an Audio CD into files on the hard disk. The extracted audio tracks can be stored as WAV or MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3) files. The latest version of CDex can be downloaded from

http://cdexos.sourceforge.net or http://www.cdex.n3.net "

Good luck.

I finally finished reading all the posts. My song is done. Now what. How anti-climatic. I guess I'll clean house and wash dishes. Maybe read a book?

I goofed and missed the first night of a 2 night CPR class for my apprenticeship. Hope I don't get in trouble. I forgot all about it. With the kids home, I kept thinking it was still sunday!

Not to mention my obsession with finishing my song!

Have a nice day all.

OCPS Sounds like you have a "microphonics" problem. Seriously, that's what it is realy called! Two way radios sometimes do it if subjected to strong vibrations, the crystals or other parts will vibrate.

When I was a teanager, my friend and I were copying LP's to tape so we could listen to them at the basketball court. His dog was barking in the room, and you could hear it on the tape. It was funny.

Wish I knew how to solve the problem, maybe you could mount the circuits on a rubber pad inside the amp or something?

Good Luck, "The Force will be with you, always".

Well, I have to help my brother move from Redding, CA to Eureka, CA tomorrow afternoon. Staying in Redding (Anderson) over night. I wont be able to come to the forum, boo-hoo, sniff...

I drove into town today to check on a speeding ticket they want to charge me $735 for!

Of course, it is Caeser Chavez day so they were closed!!!

Later all.

Everyone Did anyone here see "U-Pick Live" "Kids' Choice Awards" on "Nickelodeon" at 8 PM Pacific time? They film the TV show at Universal theme park in Orlando, FL, USA.

My kids said they saw Joe Satriani on the show and I missed it! They think it was Joe, can anyone confirm this? Will Smith and Jim Carey were also on there.

I wonder when Joe found time to go there and if he did, that is just way cool!

I just got home last night after 9 PM, from my road trip helping my brother move (about 160 miles one way, 4 hour drive).

Now I can see my brother and Grand Ma more often. :)

Ahhhhhhhhh...... My wife just snuck up behind me and goosed me.....Hold on while I have a minor heart attrack..... ok, my heart rate is normal again. My wife said it was payback for all the times I "sneak" in on her when I get home from work or something. I'm not trying to sneak in on her honest, but she does jump pretty high when I say, "I'm home".

mariSRV I think we all love you. You should see when I check the site. 20 pages at least, but it is fun for me to scan through it all, looking for the latest news or jokes and Satch stuff. It's like a family reunion to me. I have met so many wonderful people here, and it makes me happy. My family is spread out across the United States. I finally "met" 3 of my sisters after 32 years of separation. 2 live in Florida, one in Tennesee. Not sure where sister #4 is.

My mom died last year, my dad died in 1993.

I think I would be more lonely without having T2J to share mine and each and every one of your joys and struggles together. We can (and should) help each other make it through this mysterious and confusing thing called life.

Just my 2 cents worth...

DCK and the other judges for T2J2 I am formaly giving you and the other judges permission to axe my song first. After listening to it a couple of times, I have decided it is embarrasing because of several mistakes in the lead.... Unless of course I could remix the lead for the final cd to be mailed in (If it ever got picked, that is). Then I would be honored to contribute to the project.

But, If you guys do decide my song is not "adding to the overall theme of the album", I would understand with absolutely no hard feelings. It only took me 1 week to create it on my guitar, then 3 days to record it.

It was a fun experiment with the new recording gear. At the end I decided my phone jack on my guitar needs replacing. The ground is now sometimes intermitent causing popping sounds if the cable moves at all.

I personally think my song has potential and a unique flow, it just might need some polish. I am not very happy with my distortion effects, to much buzz in the higher freqs. Maybe I need the DOD distortion pedal Joe uses? I used the built-in effects on my Roland multitrack. I can always turn the distortion down some to give my lead a cleaner sound.

I still have the original individual tracks on cdrw, so changing the lead would only take minutes. Plus I can shorten the song if needed.

Good luck to everyone else, and congrats to Do the Stu for the interview!
