phryg - Same thing really. Diminished can mean flat 5th. Then again it can also mean a scale with all intervals as minor 3rds or whole+half.

Ovation1 - Funny you should mention the 7V. I just spent some time with mine last night. Took the gold Lo Pro off and fit on a black Edge. I'm testing the string breakage with a slightly different setup by leaning the bridge forward a little more.

Anyways, you're asking about the scalloped frets making playing easier. --- On the Jem7VWH the scallops are virtually useless actually.

The history of scallops on a Jem was actually a technical one. The reason Jems came with scallops was for the older Jems with the Original block neck joint rather than the more modern AANJ (All Access neck joint). The reason those frets were scalloped was to help sustain on the last 4 frets. If you look at the older style block neck joint Jem neck, you'll see that the last 4 frets have no more maple under them. It is just an extension of fretboard. http://www.jemsite.com/axes/detail/f_neck1.jpg (COPY and PASTE this link, the hyper text doesn't work) Notice how the bottom neck has maple all the way along the neck.

With those frets having only very little wood under them, the sustain would suffer so Ibanez thought scalloping would help this.

Now you're probably wondering, hey wait a minute, the 7V has an AANJ so why does it have the scallops? Well simply, the original design of the 7V just prior to it's release date in 1993 had the original block neck joint. They changed the neck joint to AANJ and kept the scallops. Sure, why wouldn't they keep the scallops? Another way to sell a guitar. ..."makes playing easier on the upper frets."

I suppose that's half true, because how much playing can you do on those tiny frets up there anyways? A few bends of course. I admit, not feeling any wood under a string on a bend is very nice. Although, if you want an Yngwie Malmsteen type vibrato just by pressing in on the fret to increase tension on the string, it won't happen up on those frets. They're far too small to be bent in like that.

That should answer your question.

FretboardLighter - If you're a Metal Head, I strongly recommend In Flames. They are among my favourite if not my favourite band.

Ovation1 - Yeah it's good for a whammy instrument. I played the guitar for the first time since May last night and the sustain was shocking.

Whojack, Nick Lee - Ooalwuays thank you much, veRy veRy much.. I'll let everyone know when I get Nick's video up on PC. Will be tomorrow night for sure.

Megaboyd - It's like you've known me all my life. (did you mean to say why, are g**** your mortal enemies OR did you mean to say why are g**** your mortal enemies?)

Tapper5 - Thanks. Hopefully 2 - 4 weeks will be enough until I start practicing. No one touches the hand!

chocoholic - Yes definately, I remember now. Anyone who picks up an instrument and seriously sits down and practices music will notice drastic tonal distinctive improvements after time. Whether it is humming a tune or developing relative pitch, anyone can do it.

Clarky - Thanks, i'll look into that. The only time I notice pain was from really hard, fast, constant picking. My shoulder and inside elbow would hurt. I don't know any other way to pick the way I do and not have it hurt though.

Local Person - Try picking up a guitar and learning what the next note is before you even. Just any note all over the neck randomly. Seeing George Benson and Rik Emmit playing solos and leads while 'skatting' is just mind blowing. Gives you a taste of a what a true musician is. I mena George Benson, has anyone seen that guy play? You'd think he's just playing random notes when he improvises but then you see him skat exactly what he's playing note for note and you know, he's just unbelievable.

Megaboyd - Vha? Vhat is dees one you speak of?

Clarky - The sad thing is, I hurt my hands from lifting many heavy things at work. Had nothing to do with the picking arm really. I'm still pissed about it. Still need some healing time.

Megaboyd - Spider sense.... tingling. No, what?

CyberJoe / Nonsmoker - White? Just get a Jem7VWH. Want mine? Oh wait, Nick Lee made me like mine. I installed a black Edge on after I ripped out the gold Lo Pro. That piece of crap. It broke strings far too often and I was always conciencious about wearing gold so I hurt my shoulder badly when picking a lot while not having my arm rested.

Austin/Matt King - Every piece of hardware, every hardware config, every piece of software, it's only likely some will conflict with eachother in one way or another in any form. Some software or hardware may be the best or worst thing depending on your system.

Ever wonder where the phrase "I hate computers." Came from? Look no further.

Ovation1 - New Outlook? Yeah i'd say 'cept my hand won't let me play. I can't cut a break.

Drafter - I sometimes have the same shut down problems.

Invigor - What the... that message needed more clarity in the == section.

You know what cracks me up? When people take Honda's like civics namely, which is a small engined, compact economy car and try to pull as much power out of it as possible. They end up sounding like blenders, having horrible mileage and still lack power behind a simply larger engined car.

Hell look at VOLKSWAGEN A little 1.8 Litre Turbo engine puts out 180hp.

Yes, regardless though, Windows is horrible. All Windows OS up to XP corrupted themselves internally with use. It was unavoidable.

Basically Windows was a really complex shell for DOS.

Then they came out with the first REAL Windows OS, WinXP and it's compatible with very few things and all the while they solved many of the old Windows problems, they made twice as many new ones.

Way to go Microsoft!

Matt - Cal - DOS?

Invigor - Joe left for Japan several days ago.

Mr Nick - Standard trans. cars don't have govenors. Plus, people around here street race so they buy cheap cars like used Honda's and get as much power out of them as possible. Even worse things they do, they get rear spoilers which are like 4 ft off the rear end in the air and have the most annoying exhaust sound... they sound like blenders.

Invigor/Phryg Dom - Yes, but WinNT was a horrible gaming OS as was Win2000.

DaveMC - Every system is different. I find WinME worked fine with every PC that I have known to play Diablow 2.

Whojack - Haha, what did Nick tell me? Squiddles? Hilarious.

Not of this Earth, amazing.

Rubina, is there any better guitar solo? I've never heard one with so much depth. It's the best solo i've ever heard. Makes you wonder what practicing all the technique and fast playing is for.

How about The Snake? Is that not the coolest backing track ever? All the guitar fills and tricks thrown in. A funky melody. Cooool guitar solo.
