hey guys,

jblaze1 glad to be of service. its not exactly an election but anyways, you're welcome...

shiloh2000 my list would have to be:

1. joe (of course)
2. iron maiden (yes, i'm a part of the 80's throwback brigade too)
3. metallica (haven't seen them live yet (except on dvd))
4. crowded house (if they were together again (unlikely))

homer : "D'OH!!!"
marge : "a deer!"
lisa : "a female deer!"

cheers...

shiloh2000 i go more for the ride the lightning album myself, but i agree that they have evolved. the newer stuff is still good stuff but it is hard to match the energy from the first the first two albums. the black album is another classic (thats when i started listening to 'tallica) but it slacks off toward the end of the cd, not bad sonds, just a bit weaker. thats my opinion... still want to see a gig badly though...

clarky the theory part of guitar playing always scared me. i basically taught myself to play by using my ear and tab books. i read guitar mags and just thought WHAT!?!? but getting it now in simple english fills in many of the blanks... great stuff...

cheers...

PJH : jblaze1 offered his services as a guitar bodyguard after joe had his 'pearly' chromeboy stolen in florida, by despicable persons unknown. some of us think this is a good idea so we started a petition (just for fun) to see if we could get the job for him... it for the good of all satch fans everywhere :-) ...

for me guitars are a huge investment and i couldn't buy a guitar without taking it home the day i bought it... but austin is probably right about it taking a couple of months for shipping...

cheers...

P.S. don't forget to cut and paste and add your name (this sounds like a telethon type thing now dosen't it? :-)) )

jblaze1 roleplay 1: have you got a photographic memory? you go to the toilet while on duty, can you remember the exact position (and serial no.s) of each and every guitar? just in case some one switches them round.

roleplay 2: are you a good judge of character? would you assign your resposibilities to another, maybe less dedicated individual, and take the toilet break? or would you hold it in?

cheers...

Clarky... teacher... sir...

I know i'm late handing my home work in sir, but i've only just got round to doing it. and my dog ate the first one :-))

seriously, i can't work out the last of the major scale questions. i've done it several times but it dosen't fit.

this was my result:

C#: C# -- D# -- F – F# -- G# -- A -- C

confused... very confused... cheers...

clarky, local person and everyone else SEE!!!!! this is why i hate the theory part...

so as i now understand it: if the tonic note is # then the subsequent notes will also be sharpened, and the same goes for a flattened tonic note?

but we have to avoid using the same written notes twice (only one F, only one G and so on) by sharpening or flattening adjacent notes in the scale? does this apply with every # or b tonic? it seems so easy to write all the scales incorrectly if the rules keep changing.

i was looking for a logic to this but i guess i'll have to accept it 'as is'

i've read everyones posts a few times and it is clear(er) now. but it threw me completely with the note name changes. thank you for all your help. i am learning slowly and i'm trying to catch up

still confused, but less confused now... cheers...

clarky and Local person i think i've got it now. i went away and forgot about it, the came back, read the lessons and tried the ttsttts (does this ttsttts only apply to the maj scale?) again and it worked now that i understand the coversions. i think was getting too confused trying to listen to too many differing (but useful) explanations.

now for the next lesson... oo-er missus...

austin aerosmith do, most certainly rock!!! excellent band...

thanks again... cheers...

clarky and local person thanks for the tuition, guys. i'm learning, and having fun filling in the blanks of my limited theory and practice, so the simple explanations are much apprecieted.

i'm a teacher/instructor my self, so i understand how hard it can be to think of 4-5 different ways of explaining the same thing. its difficult to be a beginner again.

i also subscribe to the "the most stupid, is the one not asked" theory, so i'm just letting you know now that there will be more stupid questions coming.

cheers...
