crushingday: just turn up in your boxer shorts. When someone asks "what have you come as?" you say "I'm here as premature ejaculation - I've come in my undies" ROFL... ahhh the old ones are the best.

yeah good point - i think i caught a glimpse of a couple of brass monkeys with knacker detectors earlier LOL. How about your grand-dad's suit and some big false teeth? Yeah Baby!!!!! Or a big affro wig and the same suit? (Not sure of your age, but) maybe a school uniform? Or a bedsheet - ghosts are boring I guess, but it's cheap!!!!!!

man - cool & not so cool: no doggie visitors tomorrow! DJ is having a two day holiday in Brighton!!! Lucky lad!!!! Still there's my two babies to spoil and look after.... it's kinda weird but it seems like they know! Then on Friday there's the Shar-Pei coming to visit... he's so cool, kinda like the Zen of dogs - always mellow, relaxed and chilled.... what an example LOL!!!!

Have fun everyone, Dave

ianjf:yeah latency sucks big time! I'm glad I use external MIDI modules and hardware outboard!!! I must admit I'm attracted to the idea of a dedicated hardware recorder though - something that was actually designed and built to do the job it's intended for!!! btw, that pedal is a Fulltone Ultimate Octave. They rule!

I'd love to Sharon, but I have a day visitor tomorrow (doggie day care) and two on Sunday, one of which will be staying overnight. Man I must be crazy!! lol

Enjoy your weekend everyone - I'm gonna be doing the dog thing (no rude comments PLEASE!) and playing some geetar :-) Later, Dave

EDIT: spelinge

OK Rich, the alternate ending is a bit of a letdown - it's basically the same as the real one, but shorter and with a little more anger from Senor Pitt. The storyboarded one, though, that didn't get filmed, has Morgan Freeman shoot Kevin Spacey. Brad asks "what are you doing?!" and Morgan says "Retiring - you have your whole career ahead of you". Glad you had a good(ish) gig the other night btw :-)

Hi everyone, hope you're enjoying your weekend. Yesterday & today are pretty quiet on the dog front, but tomorrow I'll have five (!!!!!) for the day and one overnight (along with my own two)... should be kinda interesting LOL. Later, Dave

Oops! Double Post! Sorry! Couldn't be bothered editing.... ianjf yeah, I have a subscription to Sound On Sound so I like to stay up to date with the new gear coming out, not that it's good for my credit card LOL.The Korg units look pretty good. Having USB would be a great help for backups too ;-) I have an Ultimate Octave and it's wicked. Mike Fuller make a mistake taking my order and to make up for it he gave me an Octafuzz for free :-) It's very similar to the UO - I'm thinking of putting the Octafuzz on Ebay, but if you want to make me an offer...? email me. If you're strapped for cash the Danelectro French Toast Octave Fuzz has a similar sound to the OU too, and they're only about thirty quid.

MIDI modules, I use a Yamaha TG100 a Roland MBD1 a Roland D110, a (can't remember the brand) synth and a Yamaha SU10 sampler (when I can be arsed putting some sounds into it!), and there's a whole stack of rackmount outboard - reverbs, delays, gates, compressors, etc.

Hope this helps, Dave

Ian well perhaps not surprisingly I play instrumental guitar music ROFL!!!!! There's a rundown of most of my kit and some short sound clips on my site. I use the Behinger V-Amp2 as my main sound maker, and the most-used pedals are two delays, the Ultimate Octave and I have the Behringer MIDI controller for the V-Amp so I can use its onboard wah manually, play with delay times, etc.

Darren Roser: Amazon UK have some pretty good guitar building books. I would definitely recommend one, but I can't remember who wrote it! D'oh! He used to work for Guitarist magazine and I think his surname is something like Hisckox or Hiscock. It's very detailed regarding things like neck construction, fingerboard tapering, fretting, body shaping, etc. Very informative. Hope this helps you!

Ethn I have some Crayola plasters for when I cut my fingers!! They're shaped like crayons and there's red yellow and blue ones!! LOL

Later all, Dave

CrystalPlanet: yep - your POD's line out goes straight into your soundcard's line in. You might want to just record in mono though, to save computing power ;-)

Yeah /\/\ike I'm getting there (slowly LOL)... and a kip? It's a nap, a little sleep :-)

Megaboyd yeah! Bill Gould! Good call!!! That's a wicked album!

Invigor that sounds like a pretty cool idea... gotta get some espresso in me and then pick up a pack of dawgs, but I'll check out your link later.....

YaYo: If that's *not* rock a bye baby then monkeys may as well fly out of my butt

Right, need to wake up... later all, Dave

invigor: I'm gonna do Buddha Rest Ye Merry Gentlespoons (or whatever it's called).... I don't know the full version of it (personally I *hate* Xmas songs LOL) but I'll see what I can do... I just hope r6r is around next week! If not I'll recruit Mr Roland to play drums n bass LOL

YaYo: I have been known to get things right from time to time ;-) (yes, there's a muddled-up movie quote in there somewhere LOL)

Nick: ahh come on! you can do it!!!!

Man today was hell on earth here! Two dogs wanted to sleep, two wanted to play/fight all day and the fifth wanted to know what everyone else was doing!!! ROFL Glad (I think LOL) I only have three overnight.... and a lie-in to boot ;-) Hope you all enjoyed / are enjoying your weekend, Dave

/\/\ike I was thinking of playing it straight, then doing some kind of jam afterwards, based on the original melody, and I've got some pretty good ideas about re-harmonising it to spice it up a little ;-) I just hope r6r and me can work by snail mail!

Thanks Megaboyd :-)

not a fan of these polls, but because it doesn't sound like it was written to please the record company (not to mention it doesn't fit with the rest of the album), I vote...

ianjf: thanks for the feedback. Yeah I've read about the Triton - it's one of those industry standards these days I guess. Not to mention Joe has one in his home studio! Can't help you with the JS question, but I'm sure there are plenty of people here who can ;-)

Clone2: I ll email you as well, but if you can get a MIDI of the track I can extract the drums and get an MP3 to you

Benny: no wonder there's brown water gushing out this morning &-( must be the fury before the furious fury or something ROFL but it's definitely more rock a bye baby than rock around the clock ;-)

Right, better go pick up that dawg for the day. Later everyone, Dave

McDave The UO doesn't have an optional fuzz switch. Check here. There's the Bypass footswitch, the Octave Up footswitch and a Fat/Bright toggle switch. But you & Michelle are right - it's a cool name :-)

r6r and invigor: I guess I'll be doing it myself, so it's all my fault if it's a bag of poo ROFL.... Paul - yes we definitely need to hook up by snail mail (unless you get a PC heh heh) soon..... do you have a DAT recorder? We can exchange stuff that way.... If not, how about minidisk? Otherwise maybe CDRs or (shudder) cassettes.... but nee worries - we'll get something sorted. Invigor - When do need this stuff by? Before Christmas? How much response have you had?

xCPx: glad you're having fun with your Pod.... please keep us all updated on your stuff as and when, etc.... didn't you say you were going to be working in a music shop over / after Xmas?

Hey Joe what's a "normal" day like at home for you? Do you have different phone numbers for different "parts" of your life? Like a different number for the studio, etc? Is there a receptionist / telephonist? I remember reading that SV had busy days with FedExes arriving, etc but always imagined your home life to be a little more (for want of a better word...) "chilled".....

Cheers everyone - man what a busy day today! Different dogs everywhere!!! Not to mention the chunks missing from the inside of my front door!!! ROFL!!!!!

hey gang hope you're all doing OK.... I just found out I have to walk 18 dogs tomorrow... man I put so much time effort (not to mention money) into this beer belly and I fear it's going to disappear!!!!!! ROFL

Hope you're all getting ready for christmas... me, I'm gonna bah-humbug it and not bother.... with house guests changing daily I never know who's decoration-friendly and who's a decoration-destroyer LOL

Take it easy, enjoy yourselves, and please... it isn't worth it - take a cab, if you know what I mean ;-) Later, Dave

Kell - thanks :-) and you're so lucky having such a laid back dog! :-)

Errington: I recently got hold of a DD2 and a DSD2 from Ebay. Both are very good.

r6r: I'll just have to plough all the profits back into it ROFL

I'm trying to make the loft out of bounds except for my own kids, /\/\ike... let's see if that works LOL

Yeah, Sharon... for a bit of shameless self-promotion I'm getting a franchise from K9 Capers... things are kinda hectic, but it's work and it's fun! :-)

Well I think another kip is in order... later everyone! Enjoy your weekend! Dave

Where I come from the Lord Of The Rings is usually the person worst (or best, depending who's asking) affected after a curry the night before :-/

Yeah, Liv is pretty alright, but who mentioned JLH? mmmmmm hubba hubba!!!! She's been responsible for *so much* localised high blood pressure in me ROFL....

So I have another last minute dawg tonight.... four dogs altogether.... I hope none of them likes to rip up bin bags... wish me luck LOL

Anyone know a good FX box to buy (stomp only)? I've been given carte blanche as it were for my Xmas present.... I have so many pedals... I was thinking of getting a professional setup instead... ideas? TIA, Dave

Errington yeah the DD2 and DSD2 *do* sound quite warm, and it's like there's come kind of compressor built in, so that when you play the delays aren't too obtrusive, but when you stop playing their level seems to increase a little so they're more noticeable. It's very smooth and transparent when it does its thing, and I think it's a cool sound, very complimentary, rather than just getting in the way. Cheers, Dave
