tecxhty only in my dreams..... that's not mine, but maybe I'll be able to match it this time... I've decided to try and make my own neck rather than buy one prebuilt... fingers crossed!

gitarkid I don't know about any of that... I thought Korn were endorsers/ees??? That guitar was totally homemade by a Dutch guy.... maybe it ended up in Korn;s hands, I dunno, but it's DEFINITELY NOT an Ibanez.... hang out at the site and check the pics....

Thanks NitsuAustiN :-)

Thanks everyone... fibre 'n' walking.... yeah!!!!!

After seeing that guy's homemade guitar (he's Belgian. not Dutch btw) I'm (as they say where I come from) 'well up for it' now! I'm getting ready (funds permitting, of course!) to try my first neck. Bodies are (IMO) easy - just bandsaw em, sand em, and chisel em. Finishing I leave to better people (hi Naty!). I've never built a neck, so I'm keen to give it a go. Hopefully I'll remember to take some before during and after pics too!!! Who posted a link to a custom guitar builder about a week ago? Zacahry or something? Was it you Nick? I was thinking of doing a body shape like a cross between that and a Kubicki Factor bass, but not I'm not so sure.... and I think I'll go for a left-handed Wilkinson trem, in black chrome of course.. and locking Gotoh tuners and Kent Armstrong pickups, and... and... and... and... OK I think I need a lie down!

Sorry for the double post... I just remembered something.....

Congrats trutina... you have my wholehearted support and praise (and no, I'm not being facetious!)

I meant to tell y'all./... a week or so ago I finally got my Secret Jewel Box.... I bought it (and it arrived) in November 2001!!!!!! Yep! Just over a year! It was waiting for me in the US.... now the inlaws have gone (they brought it with them) I've got chance to listen to it so I'm gonna put in the Zappa CD right now..... OK I just cheated... I *had* to listen to Moggio live.... man that bit at 1:34.... crazy!!!!! Later all, hope your weekend is going swimmingly! Dave

I know what's there, and I haven't done it yet NitsuAustin.... but I have to say some of those Zappa tracks disappointed me.... isn't this supposed to be an SV album :-/ If he was going to let people know the music he liked he may as well have posted his Amazon Wishlist or his mp3.com playlist ROFL!!!!!

I agree it's a very good CD, ToE, Zappa's always been a fave of mine.... just wondering why not all the tracks have SV doins his thang.... I already have the Alcatrazz album on vinyl, but will give it a listen tonight :-) Jason Becker's written loads of new stuff, EVH has been to see him, and played some stuff. I think there's currently a new CD & two videos out, available from his site. Sorry for your loss too, bro

/\/\ike: Light W Heat... hmmm... or maybe Light-Heat?

Sharif try what Rich said, also apps like Cool Edit and Sound Forge can do that stuff too. Worst case scenario you could play the tracks, hook your line out to your line in and record them at 44.1. Of course the D-A-D conversion will have an effect on the audio quality, but a decent soundcard will hopefully make it unnoticeable. Good luck!

Ahhh dogs all walked, handed out some business cards in Bushy Park... now I think I'll play some guitar!!! There's a new Boss Wah coming tomorrow... the sound clips on the Boss site sounded far too good for me *not* to buy it ROFL!!!! Later everyone, enjoy the rest of your weekend... Dave

You sound pretty stoked after your break Joe - batteries all recharged now? :-) with regard to varying the setlist.... not sure if you meant in general or if you meant "so each night is different", but how about not playing anything that's currently available on an official live recording (ie Dreaming #11, Time Machine Disk 2, LISF)? It'd certainly be fresh on the ears (and fingers for you! LOL).... and to make each night different how about some form of competition for the T2Jers and their setlists?

Well it certainly seems there's gonna be a ton of happy people in the first half of this year! Have you got time to do an EP for the rest of us to tide us over? ROFL!!!! Later all, Dave

theduke2099 I think guitargeek.com has a pretty god run-down.

you might be a redneck if.... someone yells "hoedown!" and your wife hits the floor.... if you have ever defended your sister's honour from the top of a water tower.... etc, etc, etc... gawd bless Jeff Foxworthy :-)

Nice to see everyone listing their setlist..... ahem.....one senses a lack of originality...?

and then..... cars could crash all over the place as a result of people with Hawaiian shirts on (sp).... du-du-di-duh-dit-dut-derrrrr...... (a short time later).... "and smelling very bad (DONK)... and dan-ge-rous!!!!!!!!

Guess what I've been ignoring and listening to today? ;-) Later all, Dave

EDIT: spelled Mr Foxy's name wrong! LOL

Clarky... mmmmmmm chips n gravy..... how can you eat chips any other way, dude?!?!?!?! mushy peas? ohhhh don't get me started!!! It's a while since I was back home (drooling).... and fighting lagers? The best I found (I call it "tramp juice", [sorry to all you soap-dodgers out there] ) is Crest Super 10%... does its job, and it's cheap (well, for here anyway - £1.35 a go)

If anyone failed to get Naty's link to work, try this link instead

CrushingDay it seems you sent me a thank you email for a Christmas present I didn't give you :-/ Maybe it's time to resort your address book??????

Naty, maybe it's because when you're having a good time, time means nothing, and so a walk in the park might seem to take longer, even though only a few minutes have passed? And yet when you are doing something you don't like, you are waiting (longing) for it to end, and so (even if it's only subconsciously) you count through every single second until it is over. Either way, it's great to be having fun, and it's crap to be somewhere doing something you don't like. I have those times too (and I'm sure we all do at some point).... anyone got any ideas for forgetting the bad times that we *have* to do and focusing on the good times we know, love & deserve?

Man another long post..... sorry guys... today was mad! At least you're not reading through some setlist you could read by clicking on someone's name ROFL... later, Dave

EDIT: I had a sec or two to check my spelinj ;-)

The (HRH) Queen's English? How do you pronounce "ask"? Do you add an r and say "arsk"? There's no R in ask dude ;-) Only Mancunians speak proper English :-D

trutina interesting comments re: Grammy stuff, except where you mentioned Dweezil.... was that a typo...? Dweezil a grammy? :-/

Craig Naso it's a Marshall. Somebody (can't remember who) posted a link to Joe's setup in the last 24 hours, HTH

the extremist everybody is wrong occasionally, and everyone disagrees with someone else (regularly in my case LOL).... what's wrong with Rich?

h302: quiet? mate you must be a Usenet user!!!!!!

geokin the war is over now, (is he listening to me?).....(movie quote of the day)

blitz9 (You're) My World would be cool to see live... hopefully Galen will have a baritone guitar for the backing... that'd be so cool....

SLACK! SLACK! SLACK! Hey, that's kinda like SLASH! SLASH for G3.... sponsored by Jack Daniel's and Marlboro, of course!!!!!

Not quite h302.... I personally hate the place, it's not by choice that I was born there ;-) but you have to remember that at least one generation of, ahem, "pop" music was born there... Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, The Smiths, all that Factory Records / The Hacienda stuff, etc... whether you like it or not, it played an important part in the British music of the last 20+ years :-|

r6r not forgetting Pulp & The Human League, I think....

clarky... i was thinking of a combination Irish / "southern" accent... more like "changing lane without indicating AND without looking?!?!?! What a phecking kent!!!!" ;-) Just like a creche is a car accident in Kensington ROFL

Crystal Planet I think it's Sound Diver mate.... sounds like you're having tons of fun!!!!!!

Yeah you're right, Naty, I guess we all have to do what we can to make good times great and bad times as short as possible! It's a shame nobody here tried to help you with your little problem. Sorry sweety &-(

pastel black, in the archive site you'll probably find an old chat transcript which will give you exactly what you need regarding the DS1, HTH

OK, bed time... I have worked far too hard for my remuneration today (IMHO of course!).... Laters, Dave

Mike, yeah I dabble....been dabbling since I was about 9, now I'm 32 (crikey, old git!)....I have seven guitars....an acoustic, a 5 string bass, a Squier Strat, a left-handed Strat, and three homemade guitars.... I can play *bits* of Joe's songs, but it's not really my thing to try and learn them... I have only heard Eric on the G3 video, and I must say he's quite the man!!!! I'm from Manchester, but live in SW London now... later, Dave

sorry if this is a double post (well, I'm not really, but my previous was started over and hour ago, and I only just posted it).... Clarky I'd like to add something pretty fundamental... if we're talking about VH1 (and I think we were), the major factor in Ted's tone is the Variac he hooked up between his head & cab..... he could have hooked up a gob-iron mike to his nylon-strung acoustic and still sound like a money-shot on vinyl (IMO). Of course fingers come into it (the sound, not the money shot ROFL), but that brown sound was all down to the Variac, and certainly not FX and EQ, well according to Ted anyway.....

Ethn: good man! What a tune! Big Jim's tone is so harsh! But fitting! And Mike... well.... Mr Not-All-There, I presume?!?!?! LOL btw.... hey, were you ever lit by flickering torchlight?

Man I gotta eat... can't be a BFB if you don't eat & drink right, y'know! Later, Dave

ethn, a very old favourite track of a very old favourite band of mine starts "tobes of hades were lit by flickering torchlight".... for me the tone was definitely in the rhythm... VH1 & 2... mmm thick and syrupy :-) Mike sure is as weird as he is prolific... my bro-in-law said he saw Mr Bungle live and Mike wore a bondage leather face thing for the whole gig... at the end of the show he took it off and had been wearing one of those mouth clamps (clamping his mouth open) the whole time... like I said... weird!

Yeah, for my sins Clarky I'm in Teddington, Middx... Reading's only about an hour away... two lefties jamming... it's got to be done!!! My brother saw VH open for Sabbath in 78 in Manchester... Sabbath got booed off ROFL... I totally agree with and support you re: fingers not rigs.... just like JS & SV playing through Brian May's rig, and sounding like themselves

Phy³ you didn't win, there's no prize but you sure have good taste in music :-) Now I guess I better dig out Joe's Garage....

Good to see you around here again Joe.... what's the new stuff like? Eclectic like SWTA, "where's the reverb" mellow like JS, eye-popping-open-string-wonder like CP, sub-bass-testicle-wrenching like EOC, avante-garde like NOTE, rock-till-you-drop like TE, shouldn't-work-but-does-mixture like TM, etc??? Jazzy? Classical? How about posting some of your (your words) cheesy demos here? Along with S-L-I-C-K, of course!!!!

the duke Joe says on the DVD he thinks about Jimi a lot when he's on stage

Blimey another big post.... time to stop typing and get playing!!! Later all, anjoy your Sunday!!!! Dave
