EDIT: I didn't reload the page before posting, but I guess being told three times is better than none ;-)

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can get decently-priced fretwire in the UK? I made a killing on Ebay UK for fingerboard blanks - £2.50 each! TIA, Dave

Leanna, yeah, that's kinda strange... Stu's is there for sure... but no drums... hmmm... :-/

Mike Smith.... well, going off his past performances, Steve's probably busy in the studio correcting his mistakes so it won't even end up as a "bona fide" live DVD.... and then who knows.... he'll get a Grammy for it.... cynical? me? (there are people here who know what I'm on about, in case you don't btw) .... well I have my moments LOL... btw I know what the secret is, I just haven't gone and got mine yet.....

camshaft there's some (outdated - Luini!!!!) info here, in the archives, but I believe guitargeek.com has some good info on Joe's setup, hope this helps

Later all... I just had a Faith No More overdose!!!!

Leanna it used to be PhrygianDominant, but most people didn't realise it was a musical mode and thought it was some kind of domination thing LOL, and besides pretty much everyone called me PhryDom anyway, so I just changed it ;-)

the extremist thanks so much for that, I really appreciate you sharing it. Maybe I'll try sending him a demo, he might want to do some vocals for me ;-)

YaYo... miaow! LOL

Benny I think their fans were shocked by it, but tons of mums n lovers and the like bought it over here :-/ I'm more shocked by Edge Of The World... right up YaYo's comment's street ;-)

awww /\/\ike I'm blushing (again) under this two week beard :-D what a cool list to be on!!!!! Thanks bro!

So, nobody can help re: fretwire? Uffa! I guess I'll have to get it from Germany &-( Later all, Dave

r6r yeah I've decided to try and build a neck. I've got a huge slab of padauk here for the body, but I've never tried a neck. I got some ebony blanks on Ebay, but still need some fretwire & a trussrod. And yeah - it'll certainly keep me busy!!! I've got 16 partially written tracks so far, but my IDE controller card died so I have to replace that before I can get access to my newer stuff... ahh the joys of trusting your stuff to a computer! LOL. You got anything to share with us yet? You could send it to me and I'll put it online of you like...?

crispin I mainly use a dctionary, and then after that I have a load of mismatched mal-played guitars....

YaYo how about It's Only Rock N Roll (live) by Twisted Sister.... man that brings back some mammari... oh wait memories!!!!!!

Gotta go guys.... but I have to say in full triumph......I Have A Ton Of Gear And I Had An Earth Loop. Now It Is Gone And Now I Can Hear Myself Play!!!!!!!! It took me 3+ weeks to sort it, but now it's history ;-) Later all.... Dave

/\/\ike and r6r I used to shave two or three a week now it seems it's more like once every two or three weeks LOL, and because I shave my head & face as the weeks go on I just get nearer and nearer to that soap-dodger look ROFL Paul - take your time, I know it'll be good though ;-)

sharon you might want to try this... go to google and do a search for your brand & model of dvd player with two extra words: region hack... most dvd players are region hackable (i found one for mine within a couple of minutes). I buy most of my DVDs in the US cos they tend to have more extras, not to mention being a ton cheaper ;-) Cheers, Dave

migupais the fine tuners won't affect your intonation. My bridge (not on a JS) has three different screw positions for the locking nut that holds the saddle (yep, it has a name :-) ) in place - have you tried all three positions? You'll have to completely remove the saddle to change screw position. You're right about moving the saddle towards the nut if the 12th fret note is flat... but I'm a little concerned that the guitar wasn't setup properly when you bought it :-/ Good luck! Dave

migupais that sounds pretty bad to me. I'm sure a company like Ibanez (not to mention a signature model like a JS) wouldn't have such a fundamental problem.... yes - take it back to the store, and be very angry!!!!!! Anybody else had intonation probs on a JS????

Chris wouldn't that be a cool thing to do? Of course it's my opinion and I could be wrong (HEY! who started this/that?!?!).... after all I thought Lester's wife killed him at the end :-/

guitarcake... what kinda help do you need, mate?

oops, double post..... prman... you've had my home address for probably a year now (and I've sent it more than twice).... and I'm still waiting.... clarky I know he's busy, but how PR is that? I hope you're not paying him!!!! I hear he's a nice guy (yes, and from a personal source!), but c'mon.... when does the niceness stop and the action start? :-/ Let's hook up for a jam... maybe it's the only way I'll get to see you play!!!! LOL

EDIT: Leanna saved me from double post hell ;-) Thanks Leanna!

hey gang I've been looking at sites with info on building guitars and found this guy's site... he builds them, etc but he's also got an IUMA site and I was very impressed with his version of Flying In A Blue Dream... thought you might want to check him out... hell, maybe he's even one of you guys!!!

migupais, if you have the volume loud enough, try moving around the room while holding down one note... there are so-called "sweet spots" where the feedback likes to generate itself.... for FIABD hold down a C note on the third fret of the A string... for more available feedback harmonics also hold down a C on the 5th fret of the G string.... I think I read somewhere that Joe likes to put little tape marks on the stage floor so he can remember where they are for each venue. Good luck!

sharon, just a little more info... hacking doesn't mean taking your player apart (in case you were worried ;-) )... it's usually a weird combination of remote control presses that does it (kinda like those Easter Egg hidden extras)... and once it's done you don't need to do it again.... mine was something like "open DVD tray, press up, right, down, left, 3, 5, 7" and all of a sudden a message appeared on the screen saying "Region Free" :-) woohoo!!!! :-) btw my player is the one Tesco were selling, a Wharfedale DVD 750S... good luck :-) Dave

prman accepted (also, nice to see you here!!!), you must have bigger fish to fry (and it wouldn't surprise me if you did!!!).... when you get a sec, etc... but remember your offer is likely to stir some interest.... better make sure you're in the uk for at least a little while, or sort out a duplication company in your absence!!!!! ;-)

Thanks for saying something.... I'm not holding my breath (cos I coulda been Mr Paula Yates if I had LOL), but I appreciate it all the same :-)

So WHO checked out that link I posted? The lack of comments makes me think "NOBODY". You guys have let me down... please listen to this guy.... it might give you a jolt ;-) Later..... Dave

mick87 that's cool, from the book (which has other really bad errors too).... if you watch the DVD Joe doesn't play it like that ;-) but I guess the notes are the same.... so does it really matter?

migupais, I'm glad my suggestions helped! I love feedback, but never play with it... you've inspired me!!!! In a larger place the rules are pretty much the same, but you need more volume. Remember, Joe's guitar is only feeding back to his amps (not so much the PA in the venue), that's when I said that he likes to put tape on the floor, I guess he does it at the soundcheck... so at the gig he can just stand at each place and know what will happen ;-)

ethn so did you get your amp? or does the time difference mean it'll be tomorrow? If he backs down,. do it again, but get him to order it online while he's still harried ;-)

oh, yeah, migupais, I posted that link to Alex Van der Linde he's really good isn't he? Anyone else checked him out yet?

Mike Smith I don't think they're for sale, but there are some amazing guitar builders / painters out there who can do outstanding copies ;-)

Stu Clone didn't you mention recently how much he charges for lessons? If that was me I wouldn't be looking for donations, I'd be looking for somewhere to invest... :-/

Later all... Dave's cream crackered LOL

jstrat57... you're more comfortable playing in A major than D Lydian? hmmmm... perhaps it's time you got a grip... and maybe a theory book

OK, so my last two or three attempts failed miserably (apart from one person).... all I will now do is post a link to this guy until you pull your fingers out and listen to him! It's not like I'm asking you to change religion or anything.... he plays his guitars very well, and *will* put some of you to shame....

Alex van der Linde

And no - I've never met him, emailed him, nor am I him.... but he deserves to be listened to.

jstrat57... good, at least you have a clue!!!! I was laughing at your reponse (in a good way), especially the ice cream bit LOL... all I can offer is.... you already know A contains the same notes as D Lydian, all that has changed is the tonal center... do your thing in A (which means you're in D Lydian anyway, arguably)... but try and think of the notes' names rather than thinking "which pattern am I playing? oh, it's A major"... eventually you'll think "D Lydian, that's 3 sharps - F C and G - here I go!!!!" rather than (time clicking on....) "D Lydian, that's A Major... which patterns are A Major ones..." etc... hope this helps, and I hope it's not too condescending ;-) Thanks for checking out that guy... I'm truly amazed at his playing.

climber cool, thanks for saying so! And I only found him cos he builds guitars!!!!!

YaYo Hippo Birdy Two Ewes!

migupais feedback is on my list for testing and playing with!!!! If you like to print your TABs you could always save them as standard files from Guitar Pro, and then load them up in a different program ;-) I do that when I want to load them as MIDI files in my sequencer ;-)

Thanks /\/\ike... it's worth the download, trust me ;-)

stu clone Even as a guitar player I'd happily pay Stu for lessons (and not bass ones either!)... to learn from someone (as you so well put it) as world-class as Stu can't do anything but good things for the right set of ears to listen to him! Timing, emphasis, playing with that circle of the beat, etc.... I just thought (perhaps wrongly) that a guy like Stu wouldn't need donations to make a vid, especially as you're so pleased to report the results of your lessons - it sounds like he's doing really well with his teaching (= to my eyes "the bank manager is not unhappy"). So perhaps I am misinformed, and for that I apolgise, but no - don't let my arseface comments stop you from rounding up the money if he really needs it!!!

dck you, my virtual friend, are one of the most musically original people here... don't see it as kicking arses, see it as another one of us, doing his thang, just like you do ;-)

AustiNitsuA I'll try and remember ;-)

OK I fear this post might be too long, so it might be a double-post by default..... hope you all had / are having a great weekend... mine's been rather quite spiffing (no - not spliffing LOL)... later all, Dave

EDIT: I made it in a single post! And don't forget: Alex van der Linde :-)

Quantum thanks for trying.... maybe IUMA is busy on the weekends? I have broadband here and it took an age last night to get some stuff from there... all I can say is keep trying, or try a (ugh) RealPlayer format (if there is one)... or even get one of us to email it to you? give me a shout and I'll send you this guy's stuff when I get a second (zipped as tightly as possible, of course ;-) ) ... thanks again, Dave

Mike Smith - no, I ain't got one, I don't want one (cos I'm a lefty) and I hate that rightys get the cool guitars!!!!

Leanna: our own Bill Clinton? WTF??? I'm sorry you are "sensitive to people insulting what you believe in" - don't you think most people are? But get real. This is the internet, a place where people air their views (because they have the right to)... and to not know where you own ex-president comes from is less than forgivable (IMHO)...... Live with it.

trutina you're right. Joe *is* da man! Without question... but to *dare* accuse my little (currently falling apart) little island as being BC's home..... I couldn't resist ;-)

mutinymike I'm not sure the webmaster does concerts ;-)

BTP you're incorrect there, I'm afraid. The CP book is ridden with mistakes. The Fulltone UO is an amazing pedal though.

kell: can't find him on a search :-/ got a link?

Sorry for the war stuff (well.... kinda anyway).... not been here for a little while y'see.... so much to do, so little time.... later all, hope all is well with you and yours.... Dave

Hey guys.... I found a *little* time to post.... so... who wants to be "chewed out" (not my words)? Anybody know that all American presidents have been American? And so if anybody says "your own Bill Clinton (not my words)" to someone from BritaIn really oughtta be talking to someone from the USA? He's not our own cos he doesn't come from here. I guess Xth grade ain't what it oughta be these days!!!!!!! Bring on the underage punches.... I'm so fat I wouldn't feel them even if this virtual existence was real.... wtg... talk about your kiddie movies and your (understandably) immature crushes on drummers... but I have better things to do, starting with my life!

Sorry guys.... even if it comes back I'll try real hard not to retaliate... but you know how it is.... anyway... something important just came up and I gotta go..... if any immature people want to talk some more (hell, if anybody wants to talk some more), email me... it saves the normal mature people in here from reading it!

Thanks Kell/Kelly for the email... it's all coming back to me now.... mp3.com want your information for resale purposes... I'll see what I can do.....
