hi gang..... looks like I'm not moving to the seaside after all.... I'm moving, but I don't know where to, and I have no job and no money!! &-( Oh woe is me, I must have done something really awful in a past life or summit!!!!!! Everything happens for a reason I guess.... let's wait and see what that reason is.....

On a lighter note, title suggestions for the T2J CD is now closed - I'll email the results to trutina who will forward them to Jon, who will then add a final voting system here on satriani.com. Thanks to everyone who sent suggestions and favourites! Watch this space for further updates.

Hope you're all well, and if you have a public holiday today I hope you're enjoying your long weekend!

Later, Dave

and another double post for the fat fella.....
it's kinda interesting that several of the emails i've received over the last 24 hours or so (ie since Jon put the vote up) have asked about submitting tracks, suggesting titles, etc, etc, etc... it just goes to show (to me anyway! LOL) exactly which T2Jers are trying to forward their career, which T2Jers are just here for fun cos they're fans, which T2Jers have entirely no clue whatsoever, which T2Jers who certainly do NOT read T2J, and others who I'll not try and give a label to!

Well, I thought it was interesting anyway! :-P

oh, man... our boss bought a pet shop by the sea (awwww.... how pretty! LOL!)... we were all set to move out there, checkled out some properties, etc.... then our boss calls and says he's been gazumped(sp) on the shop and so there's nowt! Argh! Plan so far is we stay here in Middx for as long as it takes (can't be more than a couple of months though), walking dogs, etc, until the boss finds another shop to buy... if he doesn't find one then I guess it's time for this 33 year old to admit defeat and go back to mum n dad's place......

on another note, though, I got some really good technique links from the vai message boards tonight.... and a link to a very interesting Zappa article, which itself had several links, so I'm stuck in hyperlink hell here.... but it's kinda fun! ;-)

question for all T2Jers who have met Joe..... after you met him did you write differently in here? Just wondering how I would react.... would he remember me? Should I still be how I was before? Should I address him as mate? Should I pretend it never happened but know deep inside that it did? Well.... back to the history of FZ... and I tell you what - it's very interesting reading! :-)

Oh, and by the way..... the PC holding those MP3s has crashed so I'm back to my normal listening..... Jimi, Joe, Matt King, gear demos, Clone1, me, and the latest addition - OllyNo1UK. Later everyone! Dave

Clone1 I can't put nothing on the site, if you see what I mean. As soon as I get track info, bios, etc I add them to the site. I'm sure everything will be in its place for when the CDs are ready ;-)

crushingday62 Joe (usually) has a Fred at the bridge and a PAF Pro at the neck (except on Pearly, where they were both Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates)... I saw on Ebay UK today that someone is selling a pair of Ibanez humbuckers that they reckon came from a JS guitar... I never knew the JS series sometimes used Ibanez pickups... but anyway they were going for forty quid the pair. Brand new DiMarzios usually go for around 65-75 quid though.

thanks 962, I didn't think Ibanez would do such a thing! Surely a signature model is exactly that?!?! Anyhow, I'm lucky (kinda) - I'm a lefty, so signature model buying is out for me! ;-)

OCPS I'm glad we got the covers back too! She tells me she's going to work on at least another one this weekend too! I'm trying to get people to kinda ignore the text on the covers as that can apparently be changed to whatever the winning title is quite easily. Voting... hmm... let's get the title out of the way first and then maybe we could do something like we did for the title.

Alexandre thanks! And the track order isn't finalised yet - that will be up to OCPS.

Darren you won't be able to transfer audio through a MIDI interface.

To get audio into Cubase you need to use either a USB Audio interface or the line input on the laptop. MIDI is for synths and samplers and stuff, it only knows things like note-on, note-off, pitch bend, etc - it doesn't know anything about audio.

I'm listening to Feathers by Steve Vai - it's a pretty little tune, isn't it? :-)

the MIDI on your Pod is for editing patches, backing up, etc. If your line in is really that bad you should get a USB Ausio interface. To do several tracks at once (and keep them separate) you'll need a multi-channel audio interface. Mine has four channels so I can record all four tracks from my old cassette multitrack into the PC at once. I'm pretty sure someone like Edirol does a multi-channel USB interface. They're pretty cheap too ;-)

mick87 Frank certainly did! One thing I found out the other day is one reason why his solos sounds so Zappa - he'd record a solo then when using it he'd put it over a completely different backing - thus making his polyrhythmic sound even more poly! I would have to disagree slightly with Clarky though - a drummer playing in 4 (or whatever with all his limbs does not strictly speaking a polyrhythmist make. It's more about odds and evens, like seven equally spaced notes where you'd normally play four, for example.

/\/\ike she most definitely does rule! And you & Austin it's cool you remembered me on the JM thing :"> it's also cool to get an email personally from a "famous person" (even if the circumstances weren't as great as they miught have been) too! I have one or two from good ole Mike Keneally somewhere, and one from Ned Evett ;-)

mmm I love the smell of napalm, err, I mean espresso, in the morning! Later everyone, SOTD: Three Of A Perfect Pair... Dave

EDIT: dck not too keen on the Jem thing (but then I never was...) but that Performance copy's pretty neat!
