Hey Joe, my daughter and I attended the show in West LA and we really enjoyed meeting you. She is just ten years old and that was her first show ever. Thanks so much for taking the time to meet us and sign the cds. Hope to see you at the Grove in May.

hey conner22, I would not be surprised if there will be a show in SF sometime this year. maybe it will be a special show for the hometown fans. it could be at the end of the tour and maybe they have not announced it yet.

Hi Joe,

I met you in Anaheim this year. It was my second time seeing you and it was great. Thanks for signing my Daughter's guitar too. Anyway, I think I might have heard you like science fiction. I have read lots of sci fi where there is time travel, and the traveler has to be careful about going to the past because if they change something there can be huge changes to the timeline. Even something that might be small to some would be huge for others. I don't know if you have ever thought about it but I have thought 'what if I went back and saved this person or that person?' what would have happened for you if someone went back and saved Jimi Hendrix? This seems like a big focul point in your life, do you think you would still have played guitar? many people have said what a great contribution he still had to give to music but at what cost to the future?

Thanks so much for the podcasts, we love them. I have a question, do you write lyrics for any of your instumentals and if so are they private or can we see them? I really enjoyed the anaheim show and can't wait for the dvd, thanks for making the aftershow thing so much fun.

Hi Joe, I just got my satriani live dvd and i must say it sure is nice to see it again. When I go to a concert I try to take it all in but by the end it is all a blur. I watched for it and I am actually in the dvd. Towards the end they panned out to the audience and there I am, but just for a moment. thanks again for signing my daughters guitar, I think I play it more than her anyway. I have been inspired to try to play but it may take fifty years to learn.

Kayla, You really should try to go and see joe play, get the platinum package and meet him. He really is a great guy. When I went to the anaheim show we all got to go backstage before the show while eric johnson was doing the sound check. we got a picture holding the supercolossal guitar, had pretty good seats for the show and then met with Joe after the show. he signed stuff for us, I had a guitar and others brought cds. we got a picture with joe which they posted on a website for us to get. It was a blast. Just save up until he comes to your area and do it.

Joe, I wish I had gone to the house of blues benefit. I can't believe I passed on that but I had no one to go with. Imagine when I heard you guys put on a five hour show. It just kills me. Well next time i'm goin. Take care

Jason, i am sorry to hear of your loss. I just lost my grandfather on friday after a long illness. I like to think he is in a better place now without the pain. I think if you feel like crying, then just go ahead. My mom passed a few years ago, way too young and i just want to say that life really does go on. you just have to give it the time , however long that takes. It took awhile for me but life goes on. The funeral is for the living so you can all remember, try to celebrate the life.

Jason,

you gotta give it time. You will pick up the guitar again, when the time is right. I just came back from my grandfather's funeral and wake. we have a huge family and everyone swapped stories about grandpa and what he meant to us. It was hard but also it was good to hear it. 87 years old and he touched alot of people in his life. think of the good memories of your mom and know that she wants you to live your life too.

Hey Jason, I am glad you get to meet Joe. I think you will find he is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. I met him at the Anaheim show and he signed my guitar. I would take whatever you want him to sign. Don't pass up the chance. When I did it I had the platinum package so we got a photo that Joe's guy took, a real nice guy named John Iverson. They told us to bring any one item to be signed but Joe had no problem with a couple extras. Bring your camera too. I hope this will cheer you up.

Hey Jason, sorry to hear you're feeling down. I do know exactly how you feel because my mom passed on a few weeks before christmas 6 years ago. She was only 57 and we didn't expect it. I don't know your family situation, but I have lots of family including my six brothers. I am the oldest but I know other family members were hurting as much or more. You should seek out your family if you have any and be with them, you can comfort each other just by being with them. As time passes the hurt will go away for the most part but you will always remember.

Hey Joe, I will see you in LA in march. Can't wait. I got a question. I picked up Particle Transformations DVD and I was wondering how is it that you hooked up with those guys? What was it like to play with Robby Krieger? I thought you guys were jammin on Superstition and on the special features section Simulator was cool too. Have a good one Joe.

Hey GeorgeG, I agree with you. I wish the car were affordable. I would want a car I can put four people in. The car looks great though and is affordable to the hollywood elite. they should all buy one. I do hope people will make their voice heard to the car companies to get them to create a car we can all use. It seems that the technology is here, we just need enough volume to bring the price down. I still don't think we will ever go all electric though because people need a car they can travel long distances in and the electric is in convenient in that use.

hey stu Dave here. I am going to the LA show with my wife. I will be sitting in the mezzanine level right in front of joe. well about 35 feet from the stage. hope i see you there. I remember you from the interview, that must have been a lot of fun. I got to meet joe last year at anaheim. I was a platinum pass guy, he met with us after the show and what a gentleman he is. that's cool that your dad won the after show pass.

no one likes what happened in virginia today. the fact is that a while back some people tried to make it legal to carry concealed weapons in that college for protection. the effort was defeated and the head of the college proclaimed that everyone could rest easy now that guns had been banned from the school and we would all be safe now. I guess that shooter today didn't read about the gun ban. everyone should think about this; every place guns have been banned the crime has gone up. The criminals don't obey laws. they can't even keep drugs out of prison, it will be impossible to remove all the guns. maybe it would be better to find out what made this guy do this. it couldn't have been american culture because he was a chinese national on a student visa. he had only been here since august. remember that the gun is an inanimate object, and it is the human heart that kills.

does anybody think that Joe and Ben Stiller look a little alike. I saw a photo of Joe doing what looked like zoolander somewhere and it looked pretty funny.

Hey Joe, I was thinking about all the people out there who live in small towns or just live in places where you don't normally tour. The only way they can see you is to get the dvds. It makes me wish there were dvds for every tour, but that is crazy, right? no matter how many shows you do or how many times you post to the website, it can never be enough. I think you figured this out a long time ago so you could balance the needs of your fans with the needs of yourself and family. I hope you enjoy the time off (if that's what this is) and we will see you at the next show. I do have a question though, I was wondering if you ever work on your guitars yourself, I know you have your tech but have you ever done that yourself? I like working on the guitar more than playing I think, maybe 'cause I suck at playing so far.

'do the stu' sorry i didn't see you at the g3 show. I arrived late and went directly to the seat for the opening part. How was the show in anaheim? I don't remember you posting about that one. Do you think you will be going to see Steve Vai in september? I might check that one out. We are lucky we live in LA area because everybody comes here to tour.

take it easy

hey Masterchief,

Check out the Jemsite. http://www.jemsite.com/ibanez/spec_js.htm They have a list of joe's guitars from present and then back a few years. the js 2000 if I read it right is a fixed bridge guitar but otherwise is the same as a js1000

hey rangerrog,

The cap on the volume knob is to keep it bright when the volume control is rolled down low. Joe uses push-pull knobs for both volume and tone. The cap is connected so that when you pull the volume knob up, the cap is in the circuit. The tone knob when pulled up splits the coils. You can wire this up yourself. It is pretty easy if you are handy with tools. Go to the ibanez website and go to support i think, and from there you can navigate to the wiring diagrams for the various js model guitars. I tturnedmy mexican strat into a double humbucker with js 1000 wiring. All i need is to learn to play like joe now.

well Joe, I guess this might be a day of reflection for you since it is now 37 years today since Jimi Hendrix died. I remember you said that that was the day you decided to play the guitar. do you think about things like that? I think there are turning points in everyone's life that make them think about 'what if things happened differently?' Anyway, I look forward to some new material in the future and hope you enjoy this time inbetween tours. and thanks again for picking up that guitar, your music brings joy to a lot of people all over the world.

Hey Joe, I just watched Reel Satriani and i must say it was very cool. I wonder do you prefer the 'live' studio recording over the the the layered tracks that you do yourself? It seemed to me that both ways have their good points. When you record at home you can get everything just the way you want it but in the studio with other musicians they can bring something else to the effort. the vid really showed me that you have to work with very professional guys who can perform on demand. It almost seemed like you are too nice of a guy to tell them you needed something different. I think you should do another video of the recording of your new album. it would be cool to see the ways technology has changed the process. what is it going to be this time? are you recording at home this time? Take care, Dave

Hey all, I just went to see Van Halen on tuesday at the staples center. it was a good show but the whole time i was comparing eddie's playing to joe's. to me there is no comparison, joe's playing is better by far. david lee roth was on vocals and they played all early stuff. the show was pretty entertaining too. i had never seen Van Halen nor been to the staples center before and it was very cool. I got to sit in one of the suites with some friends and the view was great. well i can't wait for the new album Joe. when will you announce the US tour? have a happy thanksgiving everyone

hey Joe,

I was looking at the figures in purple right under the script on this page of the website. What do they represent? it kind of looks like two adults and a kid. is that a guitar on the left?
