I'm on a guitar magazine-buying spree again. Got to limit my budget this time :-)
It's getting hot in here...
2 TON TESSIE - my guitar setup is embarassing ATM:
Ernie Ball Music Man Axis (the guitar is awesome - going to get me some ClearTone strings to try out, and probably a metal pick)
--> Digitech RP2000 multi-effects (not so great, used only as a pre-amp and for a little coloring here and there)
--> M-Audio Audiophile 2496 (good card, when it works... had some strange problems lately)
--> Tracktion 2 (really good software)
--> multiple free effects found on KVRAudio.com (favorite is the JCM900 simulator for distortion, though it's a CPU hog...)
--> Yamaha PSR-290 keyboard (used only as a MIDI controller) for drums, bass, pads, etc.))
--> cheap Sony headphones (probably need to replace these, as I'm sure they're contributing to screwing up my mixes)
I don't own an amp, though I'm hoping to win the Mini Colossal. I've always borrowed them from my bandmates when I was in a band. Now I just get to play late at night and very early in the morning due to lots of commitments, so headphones are really my only option.

slanshroom - nice setup? You must be joking. Can I play everything I feel in just one note? I think I did once. I wrote a song about a girl I met at a soup kitchen back in high school (we were both volunteers, btw, not actually eating at it...). We hit it off well, and I got her phone number and called her and she called me back a few times. But I froze up to actually ask her on a date. I remember sitting there one day after calling her with the phone still in my hand for a while, just frustrated at myself. I started a song about the deal on piano, then finished it up about 10 years later with some guitar. The last note of the song is a desperate scream. I don't like the song very much listening to it now, but that last note captures exactly everything about my frustration with myself. You asked :-)
"if i strip you of said amp etc ..could you reproduce it on an acoustic?"
Oh hell no. I'm not Joe :-)

slanshroom - yeah, but college was awesome. And I've only myself to blame for being a wimp with the ladies in high school. Other than that, high school was pretty decent. Enough about my boring past, though :-)

slanshroom - haha :-) Yeah, maybe I should have started guitar earlier than I did :-) By the time I started gigging, I was already dating my girlfriend (now my wife), and it was a prog rock band...

webmaster - will do. I've got to update the MySQL version a little first, as I switched to SQL Server, and just updated the songs/albums on that one after the switch. The SQL statements aren't too different for both dbs, so sending you updates won't be a problem.
Is the best way to send it to your webmaster email address here at satriani.com? If not, you can email me at webmaster@satchnotes.com and let me know. BTW, I'm working on a full discography as well, with all of Joe's contributions, guitar or otherwise. That would definitely be cool to have here as well, I think.

jsbluedream - thanks! Oh yeah, Steve Vai would be a good one to Simpsonize. I'll have to give that a shot. Don't know about doing the whole band... BTW, most of the work was done on the "Simpsonize Me" site. I uploaded an old photo of Joe, removed the hair :), and just added a few touches myself in Photoshop (added the guitar, cartoonized it, and added the shades).
Joe said he would consider doing an acoustic CD, but he feels that he'd have to take a break from electric so that he could get REALLY good at acoustic, and that just hasn't happened. He talks about this in the Kikkerfest.com interview (http://www.kikkerfest.com/2005-05-01/).
Woh, lots of posts in a row. If you think of new stuff to say, you can click the "edit" button on your first post, btw.

jsbluedream - I pre-ordered it about a week ago. Hopefully it will come tomorrow...
About the posts - I don't really care how much you post (not like it's my board anyway...), I was just saying you might want to combine all your posts into one if you have a lot of thoughts one after another by hitting the edit button and adding to your first post.
cube - best tone? Eric Johnson's the obvious answer, but I really like SRV's quite a bit as well.
js1200js1000 - congrats - that's awesome! Now get back to helping your wife so nobody gets hurt over there :-)

Just got the pre-release (not signed :-() in the mail about an hour ago (been a long day, just got to check the mail...). Sounds good to me - real crisp, but I've got to really listen to it tomorrow and compare it with the other versions of the album. Some great song stories in there as well!
Looks like Joe did his taxes on March 28th that year, judging from the calendar scans AND put out a classic instrumental guitar record!
From the Not Of This Earth liner notes (about the then upcoming Surfing release): "As of this moment, I'm ... recording another solo record, which I promise will turn heads, drop jaws and create world peace in our lifetime!"
Well Joe, you got two out of three :-)
Ibanezplyr - Andy Timmons is amazing. Check out the "House Full Of Bullets" jam with Joe, if you haven't already. I think ForeverJoe.com's got it...

Oh man, what a night! Joe was in the chatroom AND I got to be on Rockline and ask Joe two questions. Way beyond cool.
Cheese101 - I heard you are doing well after the surgery - that's good to hear. Too bad you missed the fun in the chat room. I got on Rockline thanks to you! I asked about "Turkey Man" and also got to ask my backup question, which they said to use as my second question (Most interesting encounter with a fan?). BTW, I was going to ask what became of the track "1,000 Cranes" and "Dance of the Spores", but I decided to change it at the last minute because I had already put that question out there, and didn't want to take it back from somebody if they wanted to ask it. It's a shame, 'cause nobody asked it, I don't think, and it was a better question, I think, but still, I got to talk to Joe!

Joe - the answer to Micheal Wilton's question is March 1990 :-) I would have fed that to you in the chat if I was able to pay attention to the broadcast while I was waiting to talk with you...

cube - I'd be less happy if they said nothing, of course. I wrote them a message asking them to just ship it when they have it. We'll see.
They should just do what Amazon.com does - ask you what you want to do, cancel it or wait. I'd love to try out the pick, but I'm not going to try to keep ordering it just to have it cancelled again.

guitarman13 - on the Bone's Web site, but I read the rules (after I enetered - d'oh), and it looks like you have to reside in one of the nine counties surrounding the station in CA.
schmez - yes, Joe played with Deep Purple. Just live though, I think. He then helped Steve Morse get the full-time gig (gave a thumbs up to the suggestion, at least). Sorry, not real clear on the details.

Joe - If you still haven't heard your "Werewolf of Westeria" solo on John 5's CD, you can check it out for free at this link:
The Werewolf Of Westeria by John 5
It's all legal, and backed by Real Media - they let you listen to 25 free songs a month and have paid subscription models where you can listen to unlimited songs. You do have to do a quick sign up, though. Comes in handy for checking out new music.
cube - yeah, I may try that. Playing with a dime now - sounds kind of interesting. You've got me on my own tone search :-)

Oh, you meant decipher it :-) Working on it - I like puzzles...
Is that just the English equivalent of Arabic letters?
