WEBMASTER JON - Maybe you could make it so that each person can only post once a day....I realize I could shoot myself in the foot here....coz I have done more than one post on many occasions....but it would tidy things up a bit...what do ya reckon?

I am actually quite annoyed that I just got a new turntable and that little lever is now gone....so you HAVE to do it yourself.....and I thought modern technology was supposed to improve hehe

Kiwifulla - Welcome to the site....but we could ask the same of you ya know. Wolf has been here ages and you don't have to read what he says...or anyone else for that matter...including this HEHE

bluk.....I feel ill again...but yesterday was amazing...

got another Paul Gilbert double album for a start...oh oh and found a massive silver surfer!

http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2229641620084221824yGJbLH

Not a good picture I know...will go back and get another one next week or the week after.

The Lord of the rings on stage was amazing...I think it probably helped to know the story by other means because obviously the show was only 3 hours but they got the main points and the stage was totally amazing and singing was incredible...and the effects were awesome! Truly...best stage show I have been too. I swear gollum was not a real man...he was...wow like spiderman for a start the way he climbed down the roots and the way he moved, well peopole just dont get in those positions (ok no rude sniggers here)...oh he did a fantastic within gollum fight too amazing. Oh my word we were so high we were actually level with the big lights on the ceiling 104 steps up....which I think in some ways was good having a birds eye view...

OK this is not a good picture...but you can just about make out the actors on the stage...but it gives an idea of how high we were

http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2855941860084221824lFheov

oh my word the stage at that place is incredible....so many pieces that go up and down and how they didn't trip up...i mean they were moving all the time....but it didn't stop any of the action...it was great especially during the battles....Oh some of the orcs were wearing those legs things and were bouncing around and at lothlorien in the trees they were all hanging in the air....but Oh my word Shelob the massive spider...oh and the black riders...Oh OH and when Gandalf fights in the caves the effects on that were amazing...with the smoke and lighting....I swear ...oh this is earlier when they were depicting autumn these were projected 3d leaves...and your brain just could not tell that they were not real...incredible....course sometimes they had real stuff falling from the sky...oh oh and a couple of the orcs crept around in the aisles and were scaring the begingers out of people.

Aww it did make me cry when sam and frodo had to part at the end....I hate it when friends part....had to do that myself many times so it really gets to me.

anyway here is a link to see bits of it...

http://www.lotr.com/showfootage.php

Awww i am sorry this is not a great review....but I will do a more coherant one....later

Lucy - I hope so!

hey wolf....consider this...

Silence implies consent.

Silence is more musical than any song.

The innocent is the person who explains nothing.

Silence is the genius of fools and one of the virtues of the wise.

Silence will save me from being wrong, but it will also deprive me of the possibility of being right.

Be silent, or speak something worth hearing.

Silence is one of the hardest arguments to refute.

In human intercourse the tragedy begins, not when there is misunderstanding about words, but when silence is not understood.

The tree of silence bears the fruit of peace.

Silence is a fence around wisdom

When something important is going on, silence is a lie.

It’s better to keep one’s mouth shut and be thought a fool rather than open it and resolve all doubt.

The most profound statements are often said in silence.

What a blessing it would be if we could open and shut our ears as easily as we do our eyes.

Still waters run deep.

Silence is golden when you can’t think of a good answer.

True silence is the rest of the mind; it is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment.

Their silence is sufficient praise.

Silence is one of the great arts of conversation.

He who does not know how to be silent will not know how to speak.

Men of few words are the best men.

I have often regretted my speech, never my silence.

There are grammatical errors even in his silence.

Silence is also speech.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

Silence is a text easy to misread.

To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men.

A man’s silence is wonderful to listen to.

Keep your mouth closed until your mind is in gear.

Silence is never more golden than when you hold it long enough to get all the facts before you speak.

Keep your mouth closed until your mind is in gear.

Silence is golden.

I went down with the ship but I kept my mouth shut so I didn’t drown like the rest of them.

Silence and reserve will give anyone a reputation for wisdom.

hehe Only joking we wouldn't want you any other way than the way you are LOL

Er well maybe just a tad quieter....

guitar quotes...

Besides being a guitar player, I'm a big fan of the guitar. I love that damn instrument. Steve Vai

I just go where the guitar takes me. Angus Young

Sometimes you want to give up the guitar, you'll hate the guitar. But if you stick with it, you're gonna be rewarded. Jimi Hendrix

jokes

What do a cup of coffee and Eric Clapton have in common? They both suck without Cream

How do you get a guitar player to play softer? Give him some sheet music.

Why are a guitarist's fingers like lighting? They rarely strike the same spot twice.

What did the guitarist do when he was told to turn on his amp? He caressed it softly and told it that he loved it.

How do you make a guitarist's eyes light up? Shine a flashlight in his ear.

How does a guitar player show he's planning for the future? He buys two cases of beer instead of one.

How do you get two guitar players to play in perfect unison? Shoot One.

How many lead guitarists does it take to change a light bulb? None. They just steal somebody else's light.

Drummer Jokes

A drummer, sick of all the drummer jokes, decides to change his instrument. After some thought, he decides on the accordion. So he goes to the music store and says to the owner, "I'd like to look at the accordions, please." The owner gestures to a shelf in the corner and says "All our accordions are over there."

After browsing, the drummer says, "I think I'd like the big red one in the corner."

The store owner looks at him and says, "You're a drummer, aren't you?"

The drummer, crestfallen, says, "How did you know?"

The store owner says, "That 'big red accordion' is the radiator."

How do you know when a drummer is at your door? The knocking speeds up.

What did the drummer get on his IQ test? Drool.

THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER FROM THE PERCUSSIONIST'S PERSPECTIVE

Oh, say can you BOOM, CRASH By the dawn's early BOOM, CRASH What so proudly we BOOM, CRASH At the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright BOOM,CRASH Through the perilous BOOM, CRASH O'er the ramparts we BOOM, CRASH Were so gallantly streaming? 3 & 1...2...3... 2...2...3... 3...2...3... 4...2...3... 5...2...3... 6...2...3... 7...2...3... 8...2...Oh, BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOOOOMMMM; BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOOOOMMMM; BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

A scientific expedition disembarks from its plane at the final outpost of civilization in the deepest Amazon rain forest. They immediately notice the ceaseless thrumming of native drums. As they venture further into the bush, the drums never stop, day or night, for weeks. The lead scientist asks one of the natives about this, and the native's only reply is "Drums good. Drums never stop. Very bad if drums stop."

The drumming continues, night and day, until one night, six weeks into the trip, when the jungle is suddenly silent. Immediately the natives run screaming from their huts, covering their ears. The scientists grab one boy and demand "What is it? The drums have stopped!"

The terror-stricken youth replies "Yes! Drums stop! Very bad!"

The scientists ask "Why? Why? What will happen?"

Wide-eyed, the boy responds, " . . . BASS SOLO!!!"

A fairly young, fairly attractive couple go to see a doctor and say they're having trouble making love. 'Could you watch us and correct any mistakes we might be making?' asks the guy.

The doc thinks it a bit unusual but says 'OK'

He watches for a while, offers a couple of suggestions and when they finish says 'well things look pretty good to me, you don't seem to have any problems'. To which the couple respond with 'things don't feel exactly right, do you mind if we come back next week for a little more guidance'. The doctor agrees and the couple return the following week. Once again they repeat the performance, get a tiny bit of help and leave quite satisfied. On the third visit the following week the doctor says 'look I really don't see any problem here, in fact I wish my love making was as good, why do you keep coming back?'

The young man says 'well to tell you the truth, I'm a guitarist in a rock band, live in a smelly old squat and don't make much money. she's married to this other guy who works from home so we can't go there. I can't afford to take her to a motel. this place is warm and friendly, we get free coffee and magazines while we wait and I get all the costs back from Medicare. ______________

Guitarist finishes gig and is the last one in the place with the barman, who asks if he'd like a scotch before he goes home. The player says 'sure' and the barman plonks down a big glass of the juice and a little bowl of peanuts to go with it, then wanders off to wipe down the counter. This leaves the gun guitarist all by himself for a minute. From nowhere a little voice says 'great gig man, you're one hot picker'.

The player looks at the barman and says 'thanks' and the barman says 'what for' and the player says 'for sayin' nice things about my work'. the barman says ' I didn't say nothing'.

The guitarist thinks it's late and he's a bit spaced so he'd better head off when another little voice says 'yeah great licks man and nice moves too, you sure cut it up there'. The guitar player turns around and says 'thanks' but there's nobody there. The feller at the bar says 'are you ok?' cause the picker looks a bit pale and the guitarist says 'yeah, I think so'.

Then, as he empties his glass another voice says 'hot licks, great look, wonderful style man, the chicks sure got off on you' and the bloke says 'OK! THAT'S IT! WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?'

The barman runs down and says 'what's your problem dude?' to which the guitarist says 'WHERE ARE THOSE VOICES COMING FROM? IS THIS CANDID CAMERA?'

'What voices? What are they saying?' when the guitarist tells the barman what was going on and what was said, the barman says 'oh that'll be the peanuts man, they're complementary!' ___________________

A guitarist dies and is quite please to find that he ends up standing before the pearly gates of Guitar Heaven. St. Peter shows him in, and gives him a guided tour.

"This is Stevie Ray's room here..." says Peter, and the guitarist is saying "Wow! Stevie Ray!" "And this is Jimi's room..." and the guitarist is totally over the moon.

Finally Peter shows the guitarist to his own room. Before Peter leaves, he says to him, "I have to ask. Is Yngwie here?" Peter shakes his head sadly and says "I'm afraid he went... the "other" way..."

The guitarist is disappointed but goes to his room and tries to get some sleep. He is woken up in the middle of the night by someone playing a really fast harmonic minor lick - and it sounds just like Yngwie. He presses his ear to the wall, and listens more closely. Someone in the next room is playing really fast neo-classical shreds through what sounds very much like a vintage Strat. The guitarist is confused as it sounds so much like Yngwie. The next day he tells Peter that he is almost certain that Yngwie's in the next room.

Peter pulls him to one side, and whispers into his ear, "Shhh.... don't tell anyone. That's God. He thinks he's Yngwie Malmsteen"

What's the difference between a fiddle and a violin ? Who cares - neither one's a guitar

Why are so many guitarists jokes one liners ? So the rest of the band can understand them

How do you get a guitar player off of your front porch ? Pay for the pizza.

"Hey buddy, how late does the band play?" "Oh, about a half a beat behind the drummer."

In the 22nd century..how many guitarists will it take to replace a light source ?? Five..one to actually do it ... and four to reminisce about how much better the old tubes were.

Why bury guitar players 6 feet under? Because deep down they're all very nice people..

Whats the difference between a guitar and a tuna fish?? You can tune a guitar but you can't tuna fish ..

How many sound men does it take to change a lightbulb? "One, two, three; one, two, three."

A man gives his son an electric bass for his 15th birthday, along with a coupon for four bass lessons. When the son returns from his first lesson, the father asks, "So, what did you learn?" "Well, I learned the first five notes on the E string." Next week, after the second lesson, the father again asks about the progress, and the son replies, "This time I learned the first five notes on the A string." One week later, the son comes home far later than expected, smelling of cigarettes and beer. So the father asks: "Hey, what happened in today's lesson?" "Dad, I'm sorry I couldn't make it to my lesson; I had a gig!"

A tour manager comes across the guitarist and bass player fighting at the side of the stage and pulls them apart asking what the problem was. "That bastard detuned one of the strings on my bass", says the bass player, "And we're on stage in five minutes." "So what's the problem?", asks the tour manager. "He won't tell me which string it was he detuned", said the Bassist.

Why Guitars are better than Men:

Guitars don't work late.
Your Guitar stays as clean as you want it to.
Guitars don't have parents or kids.
Guitars don't get sick.
Guitars don't get overweight, unless you like the Jumbo style.
If you say bad things to your Guitar, you don't have to apologize before you play it again.
Your Guitar always has time for you.
Guitars don't watch TV.
Guitars never need a shave, nor do they have hair on their backs.
Guitars dont snore
Guitars don't leave a mess in the kitchen or bathroom.
If you don't like the length of your Guitar's appendage you can get a new one.
You can try out as many Guitars as you like before you get your own.
You don't have to feed your Guitar.
Guitars never argue, you are always right.
Guitars never wake you up in the middle of the night, for any reason.
Guitars never try to show you off to their friends.
Guitars don't come home drunk after a night out with the other Guitars.
Guitars don't sneak around with other Guitars.
Guitars don't care what you look like or what your age is.
Guitars don't care and don't comment about what you spend your money on.
Guitars don't care if you have to work late.
When you're playing, your Guitar doesn't care if other
Guitars are bigger or better.
Guitars don't care about their performance.
Guitars don't get you pregnant.
Guitars don't have mothers.
When you've finished playing, you can put it away.
You don't have to praise a Guitar after playing it.
Guitars don't sulk.
Guitars don't bore you.
Guitars don't abandon you at gatherings for more interesting players.
Guitars don't have to prove anything.
Guitars don't try to change you once you've bought them.
Guitars don't get jealous of your male colleagues.
Guitars never interrogate you.
Second-hand Guitars don't brag about previous owners.
Second-hand Guitars don't go to see previous owners when you're out of town.
You don't have to explain to a Guitar if you don't feel like playing tonight.
Guitars never put you down, yet you can put them down whenever you wish.
Guitars don't complain if you wear "sensible" clothes.
Guitars don't have egos.
Guitars don't need remote control units.
When you're lost you don't have to argue with your Guitar about stopping to ask the band for directions.
When your Guitar is being played too slow, you can speed up.
When you need someone to play with, your Guitar is happy to accommodate.
You buy the tools your Guitar needs; it doesn't buy tools that never get used.
You don't have to continually assure your Guitar that its string length is just right.
You determine the length and frequency of playing, and you're always in control.
Your Guitar never finishes before you do.
Your Guitar doesn't complain about your going out to dinner with your women friends rather than staying at home with it.
You never get helpful suggestions from your Guitar's mother.
Your Guitars will allow you to play it even on Super Bowl Sunday.
Your Guitar never complains if you put on a few pounds.
When your Guitar is dysfunctional you know how to get it fixed (and know that it can be fixed).
Your Guitar will never earn more than you do for the same job just because it's a Guitar.
Your Guitar never spends a "night out with the Guitars" and comes home with a strange rash on its fretboard.

Why guitars are better than women:

Guitars don't get pregnant.
You can play your Guitar any time of the month.
Guitars don't have parents.
Guitars don't whine... unless you want them to.
You can share your Guitar with your friends.
Guitars don't care how many other Guitars you've played
Guitars don't care how many other Guitars you have.
Guitars don't care if you look at other Guitars.
Guitars don't care if you buy Guitar magazines.
You'll never hear, "Surprise, you are going to proud father of a new Guitar" unless you go out to buy one yourself.
If your Guitar is flat you can fix it.
Your Guitar doesn't care if you never listen to it.
Your Guitar won't care if you leave up the toilet seat.
You don't have to be jealous of the guy who works on your Guitar.
If you say bad things to your Guitar, you don't have to apologize before you play it again.
You can play your Guitar as long as you want and it won't get sore.
You can stop playing your Guitar as soon as you want and it won't get frustrated.
Your parents won't remain in touch with your old Guitar after you dump it.
Guitars don't get headaches.
Guitars don't insult you if you're a bad player.
Your Guitar never wants a night out with the other Guitars.
Guitars don't care if you're late.
You don't have to take a shower before you play your Guitar.
If your Guitar doesn't look good you can refinish it or get new parts.
You can play your Guitar the first time you meet it, without having to take it to dinner, see a movie, or meet its mother.
The only protection you have to wear when playing your Guitar is a decent thumb pick.
When in mixed company, you can talk about what a great time you had the last time you played your Guitar.

Oh I am so proud my son lost his gig virginity not only that but after symphony x...he managed to wangle/sneak his way onto the floor area...which was great for him...not sure where he gets his cheek from though LOL!

We were not too far away....although not in with the madding crowd...but only a couple of blocks up from the stage....Symphony X were good and played for 45 minutes...It must be real hard for the guitarist..playing before John Petrucci comes on...er...sorry mate...do you actually call that guitar playing...er no...awww to be fair it was good but just not in comparison...Ok this was weird their set was cleared ..then this bunch of roadies came on about five of em pushing a bit amp onto the stage then four of em stood around it and one climbed on top and kinda made like the eifel tower...we were like "er what is he doing"....he did that for a couple of mintes then they went off taking the amp with them....that was strange enough ...but then about five minutes later they came on and did exactly the same thing...WEIRD....if anyone has an explanation for this behaviour do tell coz it baffled us!

A roadie also had to clamber up to sort out the traffic light in the rigging right at the front of the stage....he got some cheers as well coz it was all very dodgy!

Dream Theatre are so amazing though....oh I cant tell you...its so great that each has their part to play...everyone gets a go...drum set is totally amazing too. But oh my word Petrucci RULED the gig he is so amazing ...and its great coz there is a video screen up so you can see those that are doing their solo's up close....having said that keyboards is just amazing too...but Petrucci had it for me. I have to say sometimes...and sorry for those that really like it...I mean La Brie is an amazing singer...but when he is totally lunging it, well gets on your nerves a little...he has got an amazing voice when he sings soft...odd how the same voice can produce different emotions in you really....dont get me wrong I do love it when he pelts it...it is amazing...but just if there is too much of it one go...ya know? They did a good mix of old and new I am very pleased to say....coz although we listened to Systematic Chaos on the way and I have played it a couple of times over the last few months ...I didn't really know it word for word as it were...but they only played a few tracks from it.. In the Presence of Eneimies, constant motion, the dark eternal night...they did a few from Octavarium..Walk Beside You, Octavarium and the Root of all Evil...they did a few that I hadn't heard before...but I was REALLY pleased to hear a couple of tracks from Scenes from a memory...La Brie was doing the old battle of the crowds left and right, getting us all to cheer as loud as we could...Oh he quite often stuck the microphone out into the crowd too during the gig anyway...he is quite the master with the microphone stand too LOL ....Jordan just loves what he does though he has a big grin on his face the whole time....and it was great when he came out with his guitar shaped portable keyboard and was having a battle with John...amazing the pair of them!

The cry for the encore at the end went on quite a while too...when they came back they did a kind of DT medley of bits....and everyone went completely nuts afterwards and I mean completely NUTS!....Portnoy was videoing the crowd...I think they were genuinely taken aback a bit...

So there ya go.... another gig tonight so gotta go...

do personal messages tomorrow....

er except to say...

MAXIMAGNET - thanks for caring so much, thanks for all the texts that have kept me going through my downiness...and best of all thanks for the message on here and the phone call that picked me right up again!

YOU ARE A STAR AND A TRUE FRIEND!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh COSMIC!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS......!!!!!!!!

edit....you are very welcome Aaron!

I have to say though....WEBMASTER I am very disappointed in the fact that I thought this was purely for non USA members....and yet again most of the winners are USA residents....

No don't get me wrong I got nothing against, and I happy for all those who won....its just well USAers always get to enter the competitions on here and most of the time we of the rest of the world dont even get to enter...

But this time.....I thought for a change....it was one for us!

devoe6907 - Oh don't remind me....i did say how much in pounds...but that was $577 to you!

NJBeast - Please pick yourself up sweety....I know what you have been through is really one of the worst things that can happen to a person...but you HAVE to pick yourself up now....you can't go on like this....concentrate on your guitar playing....put all your grief...your anger...your frustration...your sadness into it!

Maximagnet - Thanks for the pictures....you really should take em down now ya lil devil! LOL

Hugs Satriella xx

HI All...

OK

OK

I know I had a lot of good things happen especially musically.

but it seems its pay-back time!

OK OK only little things.....

Since Friday....

Exhaust blows costing over $500/£300 to repair

Get to the hotel we booked on line a month ago....they know nothing so we end up with a double room for one night...then have to hang around till 12 next day to be put into a room with two singles for the next night

I almost get locked in the swimming pool area and also nearly choke on the smelly stuff in the steam room

The kettle in the room overboils without me realzing so when I pick it up the handle is scalding hot

While we are gone 8 of my finches die

Oh and we get a landline bill from BT...nothing unusal...well yeah because about two months ago we asked to go onto the bundle with Tiscali for £19.99 which is 8GB Broadband, free land-line and free landline calls all the time. well when I spoke to the cs person they said it was all done at the time....but having rung up to query they now say no if you want that you gotta cancel your current contract which will take two day and then re-apply for the other thing which means you will be without a phone for up to 12 days!....but of course while I thought we were already on that deal I have been making mega long phone calls, so next times bill is double!

now this morning the washing machine which goes on at night has done the whole cycle pumping the water out onto...well the whole of the downstairs carpets...which I have got to clear up before work...this is a little break

thankfully we do have a vax to suck up the water...however I get a really bad back when I hoover...so the next couple of days are going to be agony!

Sigh.....

well best get back to clearing up the mess!

Have a nice day now!

Hugs Satriella xx

ps... Oh and last night I couldnt sleep for a couple of hours so I thought I would have a look on me browser on me phone...well there were these pictures which you could download which I thought were free....until it got to a point where it told me I had insufficient funds....they weren't free....now I got no credit on my phone coz the downloads ate all the credit I had!

but

Hey Joe

I was watching you today when you played with mick jagger in Tokyo...

Twas a great concert and good to see you playing something else....was i nerve racking being out of your comfort zone?

Hey I tell you what was great.....a couple of times when Mick went to the left of the stage underneath that HUMUNGOUS screen....there was little tiny mick jagger and SUPER COLOSSAL Joe on the screen ...haha that did make me laugh...yeah lets get things into perspective here hehe.

Looked like fun though and I was very pleased to see that you got a bit of space to do your thing...great stuff!

Oh was also listening to you Live in San Diego...just before you did that tour...at one point you really went off on a tangent that was also really great to hear!

thanks for the music....love ya muchly much!
