They ended up opening for another metal band. Anyway, the guy was so mellow and funny. The school hes teaching these kids at is apparently far from civilization and he becomes bored. Hes all by himself having dinner. He says, "Are there any girls here? I like girls. Could some girls come out and serve me dinner? I love to be around girls. Next thing you know hes in a limo on his way to a strip club. Lap dance anyone? So he teaches these guys the basics and he finally gets to the bass and he picks this girl to play and he GROWLS holding the bass in his hand, "NOW THIS, THIS YOU MUST PLAY LIKE A WEAPON"! Hey 5150_ALIEN You might enjoy this one. I had the weirdest day yesterday. I went to this health and new products expo to check out whats new out there and get my ROMO book signed by Bill Romanowski. So I put on this Jeff Beck shirt I got a couple months ago at the Fender. So my wife and i get there early to beat the crowds. ROMO is at this booth giving out free samples of this nutritional supplement called neuropath. He is a supper nice guy and we hit it off and start talking. He signs my book and gives my wife and I 2 cups of this drink. We hoist it down. Now, I dont know if you read the book, but Romo suffered 20 plus concussions during his NFL career (not falling out of coconut trees) and this prevented him from playing anymore for the Raiders because he suffered brain damage. So he searches and finds a PhD of nutrition and he puts this supplement together to help Romo regain his cognitive deficits. So he puts it on the market. This stuff is unreal man! Within 10 minutes me wife and I are buzzing. Everything looks like its in ultra 3D. I am now in multitask mode. I feel fast, strong, smart, focused and I cant stop talking.

So here is where I need some help. I got this Jeff Beck shirt on and Im standing at this booth talking to some people when this guy comes up to me and asks me where I got the shirt. Hes a BIG Jeff Beck fan. I tell him and we start talking. He tells me that one of his relatives who plays drums for Steve Vai is coming to stay with him next month after Vai's tour is over. I'm high as a kite and say" the dude with all the tattoes?" He says "thats him". I think this guy is a great power drummer. 5150, who is he and is Vai's tour almost over? Is this guy putting me on? He tells me that he doesnt do much and looks for other gigs while on vacation. He asks me if I would like to get together with him when he arrives and jam? Now I'm trippin dude. We exchange cards and he says he will give me a call when he gets in. Can you help me out here.

So I buy a jar of Neuropath, which Im still researching, take some before playing at church and you fill in the blanks. PLAY IT LIKE A WEAPON MAN!

Joseph, as IM calls you. I like that. Its cool. There are alot of ies out there like Jimi, Stevie,Timmy, Mikie, Billy, Tommy, etc. etc. I'm going off. Anyway, I know you probably wont read what I have to say but....its no surprise that you have to ice the arm pre and post concert as you are approaching overuse syndrome buddy. The people posting are right. Of course you know that you are battling inflammation from microtears to the soft tissue most likely in both arms. This is due to high repetition in distinct patterns. This is why I play bass. There are no stats nor will any exist studying bass player guitarist repetition volume, but its obvious that there is a huge difference, especially in your case as you would be rated in the extreme volume catagory. This is good for the audience because they love to hear you shread. The downside is that if you dont take care of yourself, you suffer, especially as the tour progress' and you age. You are doing the right thing by icing to battle inflammation. You may or may not be taking anti-inflammatory meds. I dont know. I'm just trying to help. Now, if you ice BEFORE playing you may be doing yourself more harm than good. By icing pre concert you are slowing the nerve conductivity to the muscle tissue which numbs the pain, but requires more blood circulation to warm-up. It is my guess that once you warm up you feel good. So the logical and suggested practice is that you WARM the arm and hand with a heating pad and or use whats called parafin wax on your hands BEFORE you play. This way you'll be ready to go bro! AFTER you play ice and use anti-inflammatory meds if you must, as this is when damage can occur.

Joe, we want you around for a long time man. When you get off tour you need to go on a so called off season training regimen. There are a ton of touring bands that needlessly endure pain when they dont have too. Drummers are especially prone to damage as they age, not that your old Joe. But you catch my drift. There is alot to be said about strength, muscle endurance, neuromuscular reeducation, and muscle memory when applying these principles to musicians. When pain exceeds strength, its not a good thing. There, I have said my piece. Time to go water the lawn. G OUT..

SATRIELLA A P.T. in your part of the world I believe is a physiotherapist. In America its a physical therapist. Doctorate is a PhD. Which all in all means nothing. You will have to do some research into physiotherapy on your end but it is rehabilitation of injury in general. Most times after an operation or surgery. So this is why I must observe surgery. The fun part is that the doctors often question you as to what they are doing. Just think of it as pre-med. You also get to know the doctors/physicans/ surgeons so that they build confindence in you and refer you business. I think that answers your question. Its just another job, just like everybody else's. Aloha S

CUBE This is a great title for your first cd bro. Anyway, after listening to some of your outstanding ripping of the axe so to speak, I was thinking about another guitarist. I havent listened to any of there cds for awhile, but is it Billy C. from the Smashing Pumpkins? Please dont be offended because what I'm thinking of is a home video that was broadcasted quite some time ago. I dont think he displays his full potential on any of the S.P. cds in comparison to this video I am referring too. When you start your attack you both sound kind of familiar buddy. 5150_ALIEN Romo could really put the HURTS on people couldnt he? This is a guy who lived to hit hard and when its in your blood either your shoulders or head has got to give. With him it was both. Anyway, the supplement is EXPENSIVE. It is called Neuropath and you can find it at pureromonutrition.com. This stuff is unreal and too potent for me. I use about 1/3 the suggested dose and I'm smoking dude! Also at this expo was an older NFL guard who played for the Packers and coached special teams for UH. John Wilbur. This guy had pictures of a ton of college and pro players. He gave me this picture of the pit in what looks to be a trap, and old Wilbur is cutting Manny Fernandez of the Dolphins at the knees! It is so cool! At the top he writes. This guy Manny needs rehab. He was about 2 booths down from Romo and he was afraid to go over there to get a drink of the juice! He was afraid of Romo! Is that funny or what? Romo is very mellow now. He's lost alot of weight. I think he runs too much. But my wife thought he was awesome! I said "never mind!"

I'm really jealous about all the fans that attended the show in San Diego and got a replay of the 1st G3 jam. JS, SV, and EJ doing 2 of my favorites Red House, and Going Down! I play Going Down every time I practice to warm up. I've tried playing it at warm up in church but some people thought it not appropriate so I retitled it Going Up! I say this alot when holding an elevator for somebody.

I want to thank you gentlemen for your great input and respected opinions. I know SRV and Beck did quite a few jams together. I have heard all kinds of storys about the two. I like the power of SRV, yet I like the versatility of Beck. Its reallya subjective thing isnt it? Then, there is G3 which brings the song into a whole other dimension. I like them all! Its great to kind of think about these things because it brings back good memories and shows you how much the guitar has evolved over the years. Like one interview I listened too of a prominent lead guitarist replied "its all in the way you touch it". Thanks again.

CroNumber9 I am a BIG BLUES FAN and appreciate all of your links. Is that you playing in the snow? Now, being in Hawaii most of my life, I have not been in snow. I was wondering what you guys do in that sort of climate-now I know! Enjoyed the licks man. Being a bassist and a little weird I usually put my pick in my nose until its time for ATTACK! Its usually a crowd pleaser. Hey, I dont know what Kayla did to her wrist man, but I'm going to give you a quick breakdown on rehab post injury and please dont be insulted because I have pissed alot of people off on this website with my viewpoints, but I am a physical therapist sooo. Rule #1 When you first get injured, regardless of the injury (shock is an exception) but few musicians go into shock unless they jump off amps and land of their heads. Anyway, you want to avoid inflammation so use the term RICE for the first 72 hours Rest Ice Compression Elevation. In Kayla's case we leave out the E, as it is a wrist injury, I think. Now this all depends on the severity of the injury (i.e. how it happened). Maybe she doesnt know how it happened, so its not a break. Now, you need a little compression to keep the swelling down, if necessary. So an ACE wrap or brace may be helpful. Immobilization to avoid further injury and allow the soft tissue to heal. After 3 days continue with ice, add heat if it feels tight and begin mobilization with some light stretching. Massage can be helpful, but this is a little tricky with some individuals. With some, it tends to actually tighten them up, so its a subjective thing. You are on the right track buddy, but the timing was a little off-maybe, who knows. This is just for YOUR future reference and anybody elso who reads this post. Please dont take offense. I'm only trying to help. Again, great links!

As a bassist I can really appreciate the freedom he gives me on the bass. I have a few bass guitars, but my favorite is the old American Fender Jazz, although I just added the new 60th anniversary Precision with twin independent pu's with built in synth. You just merely set your protocol and when ready, punch the volume control. Its cool bruddah. My other bass is a piece of crap. A Tobias Growler which looks fantastic but sounds like crap. My Jazz bass is basically set up like MS of Grand Funk. Remember them? Extreme low Ohms, high compression, fuzz, and sustain. What more can yu ask from a bass. Sounds like you have a great set up buddy. Its too bad we cant get together and jam! Maybe one day. I'm out to California quite a bit.

Final note. Its a funny thing. Roaches can withstand tremendous amounts of radiation. I'm sure you know that already Tony, I just want to make a point.
