im a new member to your site but ive been your fan for an year now and ive been playing the guitar for 2 years. i stay in India and i missed your concert (oh gosh thats bad). But y didnt u Shillong ?? Maybe next time u should be here coz then the entire city will be at the show (coz ppl here are really crazy about u....especially me and my frends )! My high school exams are near and i get scolded at for listening to your songs all day long. Though my mom likes ur music and an Indian classical singer she says "it's enough Girish" but the truth is IT NEVER IS ENOUGH for me.

My favs are The Extremist, Crystal Planet, Surfing with the Alien, Satch Boogie, Bamboo, Searching,etc.....oh my god it cud take pages!!!

dc slater - Ur music was awsome too. The ending riff in eagles was pretty good. and the day dreamer is commendable!!

Man i have been playing the guitar for 2 yrs now and guys like u really make me feel more entusiastic about playing.

I have a Johnson-Axl Del Mar Std. guitar. It doesnt have a tuning lock. I was hoping if u experienced guys cud tell me how to tie the string so that it wont get off tune easily when i use the vibrato. Especially the first 4 strings coz they easily get off-tune.

Hey i am learning the guitar for 2 yrs now and i learnt a few satch songs with a bit of trouble!!?!!

I wanna know some of the good finger excercises to make em real fast!!! Also notify me of stretching excercices for the fingers with proper techniques coz i wanna learn the right way from U guys.......................coz i have heard DC's and Badmama's music and that was really gr8!!!!

Any experienced guitarists on the site cud post me any tips on learning the guitar well ....coz ive seen there r lot of em here on satch.com u all have been learning for almost a decade or something and u guys seem to be kind enough to let the younger satch lovers know of the best tips u know!!! actually i've been learning european classical guitaring for these 2 yrs and im in the 3rd grade (Ive also been learning blues and heavy metal but im not really fast enough). The classicals have helped me a lot in composing my own songs and improving my right hand fingers. But now ive gotta give my 12th grade exams which keep me from going to my teacher. So itll be like 3 months till i get to clssical guitaring again. So in the meanwhile i wanna learn to play a bit faster (allegro or better) with the pick and learn some of the dexterity patterns 962 was talking about.

So itll be really gr8 if u guys keep helping me the way u have now!!

hey and i have to learn to play at the higher frets more effeciently...... i feel like using my ring finger in the higher frets but then as DC said it would make me slower...so plz send me the stuff ...shrugs... ill be glad!!!

i have a few problems though ->

1.) "This is important because it's quite rewarding and knowing that you have this to look forward to is a good incentive to work through the whole routine. "{If you started off with free practice you'd probably never make it as far as the technical exercises!}"?????? pls clarify this statement!!!

2.) Let me know about the 3 octave scale (over the fretboeard ie 1st fret to about 15th fret) ure talking about! send me the tabs!

hey i meant not the static scales that stay in 4 frets but those which go from 1st to 15th fret!! ........ ok i know its hard to get it the way im explaining but like the::: Ionian G which goes from G 6th string 3rd fret to G 1st string 15th fret.......i wanted scales like that for every key and in blues and pentatonic..........i know u must be having them.. u r talking about the ones which r confined to 4 frets or 5 frets thats!!! Get the difference?????

962, dc slater, my left hand finger tips r really hard and blackish in color due to excessive playing how do i get over it??

cud u Tell me some good classical instrumental pieces. preferably not flamenco .

Hey ppl!!!

alright now im sick of a few things!

1.) I dont know what the @$%^ has happened to my left hand finger tips over the time!!!! They're hard and whats worst is they appear badly damaged! Cracks, callus and greyish colour ... theyre all making my sick and the tips are a bit painful too.

i really dunno how i ignored them in the first place but the thing is i cant stop playing the guitar its next to something called "IMPOSSIBLE"

So guys ....and (maybe if there r any on this site) gals please do ur best and help me out i want to get rid of all this crap skin and get normal skin on top and maybe when the cracks and stuff r gone .ie the skin is healed.... i wanna harden them with nice callus which helps my playing...but first on is this is awfully sick skin on the finger tips of my damn left hand.

2.) i wanted some tips for producing harmonics artificial i.e. and some tips on tapping .... ahem... maybe simple ones like the always with me in the later half (...sorry Joe its not that simple ...coz i cant do it accurately.... most importantly its really melodious ...so peace)!!!! the tapping sound is not very clearly audible when i play it so help me out there too...

COSMIC_APE : thx for those tips. ya man i play acoustic too and on the electric (0.9 gauge) i play songs with real good deal of bends so thats the problem ...but i will clean the strings now...good tip. and plus im living in a hill station in india so it aint so hot but its humid so thats another problem.

everything is fine but i hope the skin heals and after that i get callus coz now its just cracked skin + callus so its yuck.

962 and COSMIC_APE : the harmonics i wanna learn are the pinch harmonics and those in surfing with the alien (the one with the pick battering on the fretboard) !!! and as for tapping i wanna learn the justin king kind ( i know thats too damn tough but it is possible aint it) and the steve vai taps in Answers where he just eases back and plays them with finece ???

COSMIC APE: man not finding a guitar mag here is as common as finding a guitarist. So there's almost no chance. Although after a few months ill be moving to college in a different city and probably get mags there (but patience is something. we guitarists dont have) . Isnt there any online guitar mags? If so let me know the sites.

962 COSMIC APE AND ALL THE STUDIO GUYS AND GALS:

Im gonna put my music on soundclick but i cant figure out a way to connect my guitar to the pc. Is the mic the only way?? It seems clumsy. I checked out a lot of sites on this but all they say is buy $ 3000 gadgets dude $ 3000 is about Rs. 150,000 and im just 17 man it makes no sense.

I wanna know what mixers are and do they convert guitar signals to pc signals or something . man the sites have led me to a confused state of mind.

I have the following stuff with me:

Guitar ZOOM 505 II an amp 30W connectors and a pc with a soundcard (its pretty obvious) a software called Cakewalk (internet guys told me its a must have)

All I want to do is connect the guitar to the line-in port of my pc and then use softwares and drum machines and base machines and just put my music out there.

I came to learn that guitar output is 1/4" mono and pc input is 1/8" stereo. I can easily buy a connector to connect the two and i can also buy a mixer if the need be.

Please help u could end up listening to some great music (hehe)

962,OPUS,mj ya ok ill buy a soundcard if that's what one needs . My pc is fine - 7200 rpm HDD and ya ive got separate drives for different things. Although my Ram is 256MB everything else is good on the P4.
