Peace Lilly - Well said regarding EVH. He definitely doesn't enjoy what he does. Sad.

Actually, Sammy & Mike almost always take the high road when talking about EVH. In fact, Sammy was very complimentary about VH in general during the CF tour. I grew up with VH (I was 15 when the 1st album came out), but Eddie & his follower brother Alex really made/make it a tense band.

Skippy - I was thinking more along the lines of a jam like CF did. The Stones have some great songs to jam/warm up to.

My day started with "Finding My Way" by Rush. That is a great way to get you going in the morning!

They are having fun in the "Van Halen - Soundcheck (1993-07-03)" video for sure. Same day with some Who thrown in and Sammy playing some guitar too. Good stuff.

Joe - Did you know any of the Tesla employees that were killed in the plane crash today? Sad story.

Joe - Have you done much boarding this winter? We just returned from a perfect weekend at Northstar. Met a guy on the lift next to me who also had you playing on his iPod so all 3 of us in the chair (he, my son, & I) were groovin' to Satch. Thanks for the excellent ski (I'm old school, my son boards) soundtrack!

Taking a few minutes to go through T2J. Really enjoyed Joe in S. F. a few weeks ago. However, the reason for my post is to thank Michelle for the MSG links!! Wow, that takes me right back. I'd even postion my MSG albums towards the front of my stack for an easy find. Thanks again. Next gig for me is Maiden in June.

Michelle - Thanks for the link. Silly Scorp's. song, lol. Way back when my band would play "She's A Woman He's A Man". Good link from '77 off the link you posted. Although way too much smoke & swaying in unison around 2:25. Funny stuff. Glad I lived through it though.

Joe related - I've got a ringtone of "It's So Good" looped from 3:00 to around 3:10. Kind of cool when someone asks me for the name.

Joe - Absolutely LOVE the new album!! We (wife, 2 boys, & I) play it constantly here. Can't wait to see you in January. Had tickets for the Napa gig, but had to give them to some friends as our son's baseball team advanced in the playoff's and we were traveling then. Did catch Rush (of course! - haven't missed a tour since "Permanent Waves") & Iron Maiden this summer.

Unrelated, but your friend Neal Schon's song "Don't Stop Believing" has been used in a cool way for the Giants playoff run here. I'm actually an A's fan, but the Giants have been fun to watch (although I'm hoping for the Ranger's to win it all). Sorry, not sure how to make it clickable; http://www.baycitizen.org/blogs/sports-riff/new-giants-anthem-making-splash/

MegaBoyd - Thanks for the hello! Back at you! Hope you are well. The recent Rush tour was indeed a great one. It was our youngest son's 3rd show ever (2 Rush tours & 1 Joe show). January's Joe gig will be his next one (both my boys couldn't have made the Napa gig as it was 21+ & I even called the theater manager to beg, but it was a no-go so worked out alright that Little League beat it out anyway). A recent Joe moment - I rode in Levi Leipheimer's "Gran Fondo" ride (I did the 65-mile leg) here last Saturday and as the other 6,000 riders & I were waiting for the start gun they played "Crowd Chant(/Party On The Enterprise)" and after a few tries the crowd actually got into it! Very cool!

ICEMAN II - I first saw Journey in the summer of '80. For many years we were lucky enough to have shows at the Oakland Coliseum called "Day On The Green". I went to many, many of those gigs and saw Triumph, UFO, Gamma, Ted Nugent, Foghat, Aerosmith, The Who, Rising Force, The Rolling Stones, Nazareth, etc... At that first Journey gig it also featured Cheap Trick, Black Sabbath, & Molly Hatchet. In May of '89 I saw a certain guy named Joe Satriani (my 2nd. Joe gig) along with The Grateful Dead, Tracy Chapman, John Fogerty, Los Lobos, & Tower Of Power. Aaahhhh, those were the days. Anyway, Journey was very good and Neal Schon in particular was fantastic! Speaking of Journey, Steve Perry is a huge Giants fan and was part of their World Series parade a few weeks ago. A very good Giants song was done by a fan to "Don't Stop Believing". Sorry, I don't know how to post a link. Do a youtube search of "Ashkon Don't Stop Believing". Even has vintage concert footage of the band. The best Journey moment that I know of though is when Rodney Dangerfield cranks up "Any Way You Want It" in Caddyshack, haha. "That man's a menace!".

Joe solo and Steve/Deep Purple on Saturday, 6/25 and Alex/Rush on Sunday, 6/26!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could die that Monday and it would be all good. Wonder if they'll let us set up a tent on the lawn area Saturday night so we don't have to drive home between gigs, ha? Haven't had a concert doubleheader like that in a long time.

Will do. I seem to bump into Jeff, Galen, & Mike at every gig I go to so will say hello to them for sure if my luck holds form. I'm hoping Joe joins Steve on stage for Purple's encore. Rush the next day will be the icing on the cake (I've seen every tour since '79/Permanent Waves)!

Dang I'm tired! ... but happy!! Joe was fantastic Saturday night - perfect lineup for me. Drove 2 hours home, slept, woke up, a bit of yardwork, drove 2 hours back to the same venue and rocked out with Rush last night!! Great 2-night'er, but recovery is getting tougher (& that's alcohol free), ha! Good times. Next Joe gig - 9/24 right in my back yard. :-)

Mike/ovation1 - Good to see you around T2J! Seeing Steve play as well was just more icing (or make that ice9). Take care! ... headed out the door (for a 3rd straight day through the bay area!) now.

So I was at the Oakland airport this morning (11:00-ish) dropping my 11 year-old son off for his first solo-flight to visit his grandparents. We are making our way through the hampster-maze for security when all of a sudden Joe (& I believe Mick too) is headed straight at us!! Talk about surreal and caught off guard, ha! He smiled at me & I quickly (& low-key which I think he appreciated) introduced my son. He shook his hand and exchanged pleasantries and was his usual extremely cool self. That was weird and awesome all at the same time! My son & I later said that Joe's level of celebrity is perfect. He can go through an airport with very little attention and be a fairly normal person & enjoy the world. My son later wished that he had mentioned to Joe that "It's So Good" is his ringtone. He is flying on cloud nine right now. What a perfect chance encounter! You are the man Joe! - From a family who enjoys your music (& the way you go through life) immensely! Looking forward to seeing you in late September!

Michelle - Please don't ever do that again. I actually did almost spit out my drink. The comments are classic. I swear they stole some of those moves from Monty Python's "Ministry of silly walks".
