Hi Joe
I am trying to get in touch with a number of musicians on matters of music theory. I have written a book tentatively scheduled for release on Mel Bay for late fall/early spring on the subject of Alternate Tunings for the guitar.
As an example of my work I would like to send you a list I prepared of every possible heptatonic (7 note) scale sorted into groups of modes. (In the key of C there are 462, or 66 modal groups: if every key is included, there are a total of 5,544)
I wanted to speak with you ever since I saw the description for the tuning used in the song "The Enigmatic". I have another book which I am preparing in PDF format which is a system for breaking down any alternate tuning into a playable form quickly. I will gladly give you more details if you are willing to speak or email me. The music theory topics I wanted to ask you about are the roles of the steps in a scale as well as the desirability of a database of chord types to scale to tuning associations.
Hoping you will get back to me,
Mark Greyland
