Hi Joe,
I'm working on a scholarly project on your music. At this point, it looks like a series of essays, but might become a book under the right conditions. Basically, I'm interested in how your instrumental music creates meaning, both on the compositional side (ie. what the pieces might mean to you when they are created) and on the audience side (how an audience might hear various meanings in the music itself). The project is in its infancy right now, but I'm presenting the first project (on meaning in Ice Nine) to my colleagues at the end of the month. If you're interested at all, I do have some questions that I'd appreciate your perspective on.
And to the rest of the list, I'm going to be putting together a listing of all the interviews with or articles about Joe and his music that have appeared in the last 20 years. I'd appreciate any insight you have on rare sources or things published locally that might not have appeared in the usual trade guitar/music magazines.
Thanks.
Geoff.
