Hi, I'm new to satriani.com but have been a big satch fan for years. Joe, it was a combination of your, Steve Vai's, and Yngwie Malmsteen's music that has slowed my thoughts of suicide. You music is so unique, and it will never get old. Looking foward to you playin in Birmingham soon, got the tickets yesterday, but don't do a Vai and turn up late lol. See you later.

Do The Stu-

I first got into satch when I was looking for steve vai videos. A lot of comments on those videos recommended Joe's playing. I looked him up, and I think the first song by him I heard was "I believe". I was blown away by it and looked others up. Surfing with the alien, satch boogie and the extremist were soon to follow as favourites of mine. It was nearing my birthday at the time, so I got the surfing album and the (then) new album, super colosall. Been a fan ever since.

Satriella

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, I can't wait until I get to see Joe, it will be fantastic. Don't worry about it, believe me I try not to. Currently sorting it out, I'm fine.

Do The Stu

I'm 16, so it's probably not that weird that I only found out about Joe a couple of years ago. Oh, and happy easter to all :)

Was listening to Dream Theater's "Repentance" from Systematic chaos, read on the case and Joe was in it as a guest "voice", along with Steve Vai! Didn't notice that at all..... just sounded like a load of random people. (btw the middle section has voices of people's regrets, that's what Joe was in.)

Check out the song here

Satch blues- Thanks for that - I actually had no idea which was Satch's voice lol they all sound kinda the same. Everytime I listened to it I tried to figure out which was Joe's and never could lol. I'll listen out for the names next time I do listen to it.

More songs worth looking at from DT:

These Walls

Octavarium

Prescence of enemies part 1

Satriella - I'm not gonna e-mail you- it will only depress you and that's never good. Thank you for the offer though, I appreciate it a lot.

Allanex1- Don't know if Joe's had a look, but from what I heard they sound pretty damn good. Very Satch-esque. How long have you been playing?

Do The Stu- I would but complications because of different timezones, countries etc. I wasn't really bothered, just giving it a mention anyway.

Satriella- That drawing's amazing-you have a huge talent

Tom I'm doing my GCSE music at the moment as well. Surfing would be a great song to use. Get that perfect and I reckon full marks.

Finally got the album-sod the coursework for a day!

Definatly worth it. Joe, you've blown me away again. "I just wanna rock" is my favourite, but I'm sure I'll develop many more favourites. Only about a month till I get to see you play live, Joe. Any chance of Crowd Chant?

Satriella - Hope everything goes ok. Hope you get through the rough patch alright.

Igneousiceman- I think you'll agree when I say education, while useful, sucks.

Everyone else-This bassist is INSANE!

I was right, more favourites have emerged. That high note in the chorus of "Revelation" is absolutely magic. Andulasia and Out of the Sunrise are absolute TUNES as well. Seriously Joe, nice work.

Anyone else into the program "House"? Best acting of Hugh Laurie's career, I reckon

I find that chromatic stuff helps to advance alternate picking, finger stretching, etc. If, everyday, for example you play a chromatic that uses all the strings from bass "e" to top e-string, 12th fret "e", then your fluency improves, and you can move on to harmonic or melodic minor scales, or just basic major ones. Maybe increase the speed from time to time. You will find that even some of the most complex melodies become easier with this practice.

Hope that helped.

Don't suppose you'll let slip any tunes you're planning to play at the Birmingham gig? :)

This is getting ridiculous....

It actually snowed over here the other day. It's supposed to be nearing our summer and it snowed.....

As much as I love the UK, it's weather is something you non-UK residents wouldn't miss.
