GuitarJo--The pedal Joe uses is a Digitech Whammy.

Do a search on that on YouTube and Google and you'll be set.

Lorenzo: I'd suggest you read this guy's page (Rich, Ibanez Rules)

Here's a link to the pertinent page: Ibanez Rules tech page

Satch glassware. I love it. I could really go for an Oktoberfest-sized Beer Stein in place of the shot glass, though. That would be so cool.

Finally someone got a youtube vid of Joe, Leslie West and John Petrucci jamming to Goin' Down in NYC.

Leslie's reaction to Petrucci's playing (at least I think that's what he's talking to Joe about) is worth the look and listen all by itself. Man if some of this makes it in the podcast that would just be so cool.

5150 that sounds like Ed all the way to me.

OK. I'm halfway thru listening to it. It's EVH or the best damn impersonator in the world.

SuperDave,

Those were pathetic bids. I've remedied that. I'll (damn sure gonna) make sure to check back in on your pedal. In the end, somebody is gonna get it. Might as well be me, I think.

I remember the time when I had to sell my RG 550. I let that get to me and fell out of love with music and noodling around on guitar.

I hope it doesn't get that far for you.

Best wishes.

Found a cool new YouTube vid wherein Leslie West explains why and how Joe is playing one of Leslie's signature Dean guitars during the jams.

Really cool

Hey Cappy Steve,

the X in Xmas has a long tradition, and doesn't have anything to do with disrespect.

If you want to see for yourself it's right there on wikipedia.

X-mas

One less thing to be upset about.

Good grief, Superdave. She said:

She does not yet know what she will do with the money.

"I've always wanted a Corvette, but I don't think I'll buy one. I'll stick to a small car. I might go to Mohegan Sun," she said, referring to the casino in Connecticut. "I'm going to go home and sit and think."

Hey granny, why not buy yourself a JS Black Dog or 20th anniversary instead of the Corvette, or the casino, you'd get the same use out of them!

WhammyFreak, Have you tried a program like 'Replay Media Catcher'?

I use that to grab YouTube vids. Works well.

I am recording to my 'puter that webcast you referred to above with RMC right now. Using the demo version. (i.e., free). It's up to where Joe is playing his space amoeba JS for "Up in Flames." So far so good.

I got a concert to watch. Later.

DUPED my post.

And, to my chagrin, it didn't work. Needs to be the full version. My apologies.

Hey Burly re: neck widths Ibanez has all the data on their website for the dimensions of neck radii width etc. Since I don't know your particular RG model and neck, I can't tell you the difference. So, look it up on Ibanez's site.

Guitarmatt Yeah, that Dimarzo(not Dimarzio) kid is good check out his video of Buckethead's Jordan.

He's no , Anton Oparin of course.

(edit: finally fixed the GD links)

Steve, try out some Dunlop Tortex picks. I prefer the Orange(.60mm) myself. In case that scares you, Paul Gilbert uses them too(copy cat).

Joe's picks in medium gauge is about a yellow tortex. I like the feel of that too. It's little smoother to the touch than the tortex.

It's Les Paul's birthday today.

Joe and Les from October '08

2nd edit: The Chickenfoot album rocks. I thought Soap and Down the Drain were ok, by which I mean good, (as previews), but they got nothing on Turning left and Get it up!

Well Tostado,

It's like the philosopher DLR once said: The reason the critics love Elvis Costello is because they all look like him!

Or maybe CF is just not that guys flavor of fun. Everything else that follows from that dour perspective is just trying to justify taste.

So, seafood is american?

Nobody else has seas or oceans of course. {/sarcasm}{/snark}

Or do you mean deep fried sea-food? We invented fish and french fries, didn't we?

I'd say a corndog is American. The burger, too, unless someone knows better.

Maybe grits or shit-on-a-shingle is american.

That Chad Smith movie, Talladega Nights The Ballad of Ricky Bobby has the best 'american food' debate I've seen or heard.

I love crepes.

Ah, Roo:

I didn't mean to say 'we invented fish.'

I said "we invented 'fish and french fries.' which translated into British english would be "fish and chips," the dish.

I was trying to be chauvinistic in an ironic fashion.

I was trying to point out that America has almost Sweet FA in the way of indigenous foods.

That is the reason for the switch to Marshall

Joe saw that little girl playing AWMAWY through a Marshall, and it was all it took.

And now you know the rest of the story.

Or maybe not.

Do the Stu,

I dunno. Full-on covers can be cool. Like, If Sammy(like in that vid) wants to strap on a guitar so much, maybe he could knock out the rhythm for Crushing Day.

:-)

C'mon Motherfucker, Yeah has that Je ne sais quoi of a mega-hit about it. Next album for sure guys. C'mon!

Petrucci kinda looks like he is afraid of putting his foot thru the stage floor.

I don't think you'll see him bounce up and down like Joe anytime soon.

Joe does what might be considered an informed explanation about feedback for FiaBD on this video taken at a Guitar Center clinic.

As for Edward, what can be said has been said by Paul Gilbert:

(liner notes to GOMY)

“My biggest guitar hero is named Edward. I have seen visions of freedom, virtuosity, and unspeakable joy that remain unmatched. I hope he can find his way to a place free of all pollution and once again show us the beauty of his music and soul."

Amen.
