I have a question for Satch, and I think he's the only guitarrist on Earth who can answer it: sometimes I'm practicing something, like an alternate picking phrase, and after a while I switch to some arpeggios and keep practicing it. Then, when I try to do some alternate picking again, my hands seem faster and more accurate than they were just a half an hour ago. Is this normal? How come such different techniques help each other?
