Just want to intro myself first. Hi Sensei Joe, and to everyone else, Im David Ford (well Ford is my online lastname LOL) Im 39 from Boston Mass. I was an EMT, worked for the State Police as a help unit, and now I currently transport handicapped children to a special school in Brighton (love this job as the kids are awsome)

Long story short, Ive been playing guitar since I was six. Never got a lesson (although we could afford it) Using MTV when it was real taught me alot. But when I was 30-ish, I was told by someone, my stuff was old" I knew chords but couldnt sing. So I gave up playing for about 5 years.

My REAL friend got p'd off when he found out I didnt play anymore. After twisting my arm, I went searching my Dads place for my old guitar. I taught my friend a few things, but got bored myself. I cant sing, no band, nothing to play through.

Thats when Iearned of a "Joe Satriani" I heard of him, but not once did I listen. Well, technology sent me to youtube. I found a bunch of songs, and damn near fell off the seat. He plays music WITHOUT singing. And, it rocked. Is THIS what I was supposed to do?? Instrumental Rock?? Lets put it this way, Maybe a total of 11 hours a day, including sleeping, Im not playing guitar. For the last year, I have made songs, written music, making new friends. The music world has changed ALL because of Joe Satriani.

You will hear names such as, Master Joe, or Sensei Satriani. This is for a few reasons. 1, for re-inventing music as far as Im concerned. 2, opening my eyes, and giving me drive. 3, For treating people, fans etc, with the most respect than ANY famous person. Being down to earth and teaching (as thats what you do) fans etc online etc. Ive never met a "Real" teacher as Master Joe has shown. 4, Music that gets the brain in motion. I just love writting. When ever I do a project, I have another along with it. Its so my mind takes a break LOL. 5, Just making the most kick-ass songs in the world. YAAA!!!! LOL

Master Joe, I thank you for ALL that you have done for the music world. All these years of not knowing you, VS the 2 years of knowing you are totally different. I went nowhere without hearing you, and had to be the most boring. 2 years of knowing you has to be the best fun. Look at my youtube channel!! I even wrote a tune called "Planet Joe" HAHAHHA. I had my girlfriend do the stewardess voice as we take a trip to a world of Joe Satriani. I cant wait to finalize that tune.

Anyway, I again, want to thank you Sensei Joe. Your even a teacher miles away. Would not be playing again if it wasnt for you. When everyone gets a chance, check out my channel on youtunbe. Add me, I wont bite. I know Im a good guy and friendly to all. Thanks again

Dave

Thanks Two Shay for your reply. Yes I have thanked him several times. I was just afraid I was going on and on, plus noticed your only allowed an amount of characters, so I kept it simpler LOL. I am a little upset with Tiago (guy who inrto'd me to Satch) as he quit playing a few weeks after I re-picked guitar up. Tiago and his cousin Dean both set their guitars down. They both where taught with top dollar, and couldnt match what I did without ever being taught. I still try to get them back into it. I never intended to ashame them or whatever.

Guitarman77897 Im not sure on the difference. Im personally looking at the js100. Im one of those broke guys LOL.

Two Shay your absolutely right. Thats one of the biggest things that bought me with him. Now I dont bash other guitar players at all. But lets take Eddie Van Halen. Great player. But when he first came out, he always tried to hide his playing. Alot of guitarist try to hide their work, then we have Master Joe, who has his own show etc, teaching people. How much better does it get? LOL

I personally love the vid where he is teaching "Surfin with the alien" vid. He goes over that tech where he takes his left hand, places it on wammy bar, his pick does harmonic on G ( i believe) and makes that high pitch noise. Then he says,,,,,,"Its so easy its,,,,embaressing" HAHAHHAHAHAHHA Love it.

What about the "Mysical Potatoe Head Grove Thing" Love that mute string, hammer on thingy in that. ANd shows the whole world how to do it. Just plain AWSOME!! LMAO :P

Know what I was wondering? What if wolfie was talking like in code? Like every 5th word or something. OR what if its REALLY Joe on a second account LOL. But seeing he has been here forever, and Joe etc doesnt mind him, and I think those who are ragging him, should leave him alone. Kinda interesting if you think about it. :P

Master Satriani, Im just wondering if you have ever planned on releasing your music in "backtracks"? I know you will make money off of it, but Im willing to spend regardless. You the teacher, and releasing your music as backtracks, would benefit your guitar playing fans, as well as the young.

I have been searching for a backtrack of "Lords Of Karma" for almost 5 months now. I have found a real trashy one (almost MIDI sounding) but seriouslllyyy would be embarrassing to you.

And before I go on, for people that dont know what a "backtrack" is,. is its very similar to karaoke, but in the Masters case, since he dont sing, his guitar playing would be missing.

You can either sell online (individual, or whole CD) or have in record stores. For a CD of your backtrack, consisting of about 15 tunes, should go for about,,,,,$25 to $30 American dollars. Get ALL your tunes out there. Trust me Master it would sell.

And please, dont anyone just say "Hey, got to this site" The Master has been here for the world to listen to him, the least he should do is make a profit off it. I already have a few backtracks already, but the quality is just horrible.

Master Satch what do you think? I need "Lords of Karma" For some reason that song just has a hold on me. And if anyone know if he doing this ALREADY, can you email me at

dsbickford@yahoo.com

and title it "Satriani Backtracks" Please dont spam me. Just desperate for a legit, true quality backtrack version of "Lords of Karma" Im ready to spend money on it :)

Dave

Pip55, Thank you for your reply :)

Mater Satriani, is this the case? Can a follower give some advice for a moment? As dreaded the day it comes to many of us, that you cant play anymore, or your time has come, you will have left planet earth, and left a legacy. You have empowered a lot of us, such as my self, to learn, play, or re-pick up the guitar again. There is a handful of people on this planet, that have not only, pleasured us in music, but have also contributed to music. You are one of them.

Im going to say a name, we all know. Les Paul. A man, not only blessed with the sound of music, but has also changed music. Most dont know, but the guitar was considered a joke-like instrument in its early days to music. When Les Paul and Mary Ford played for the world, future guitarist where being born. Les Paul has awed the planet to play. You have also done the same.

Master Satriani, I cant tell you the impact on music you have done. Their just isnt words. From being the teacher, to creating some great players, to inspiring, inventing and just the Master of music. You have done an immense force to the music industry. Why stop there?

The problem, we have, is music is still going to be written, after we are gone. Why is it a problem? I wont be here to enjoy it. Neither will you. Have the will, to leave earth, with more knowledge even after your gone. Because a future child will be born, that will listen to your music, and you will still be the teacher. Even if you dont do all your music on backtracks, leave knowing you left the world some kind of tool, they can continue to use.

Master, the world still uses tools and knowledge from the past. Why not be a part of that even more than you have? I know most of your music is personal. Why not look down from the heavens with one last smile? Their is currently an 8 or 9 year old boy (Tmann we call him) who is amazing on blues guitar. Do you know who he watched that got him to pick up the guitar? You!! You Master!! TMAnn says on a news broadcast, he watched a music video of Joe Satriani, and the kid is already a legend. You still have it in you.

Please reconsider your backtracks. Not one of us can take the music, the legends, the guitars etc with us when we go. Its possible, that in 100 years from now, someone is going to pick up the music sheets, backtracks, become a legend, and then be asked, how he/ she learned to play. His/her answer will be easy,,,,,,,,,,,,, "Master Joe Satriani"

Hey capecodnut, Master Satriani either helped write it, or gave her permission. I forget the answer, but remember the story. No copyright infringement in that tune. :)

RIP John Carter. Sorry for your loss Master Joe.

I am having a great somewhat day. Just got my JS100 in. I hafta say the guitar is just awesome!! When we took out of the box, the first thing, the guitar manager and myself said was,,,WOW!!! The internet doesnt make it look as great as it really is up front. The curves, angles etc, is just stunning. And since the JS100 is the cheapest model of the series, I can only imagine what the others look like.

Anyway, I do have a problem with it though. After looking at it, another customer in the store bumped into it and knocked it over by accident. Between him and I, I dont know who was ready to cry first. Still in plastic etc.

It seemed ok, but once I brought it home I noticed a few things. Going to bring it back tomorrow and have em look it over. If I look at it real close, it looks like the neck may have moved a fraction. I can tell from looking at the side view. Plus there is a small fraction of a gap there too.

Still a sharp looking guitar. Says "Joe Satriani" at the 21 fret LOL :) Didnt see that either on the internet.

But I do have a question for everyone. I want to replace the JS100 neck with a 24 fret neck, WHICH, only comes with the JS2400 series. Are these 2 necks compatible??

Dave

PS: And where can I get this? didnt see it on the Ibanez site.

Thanks everyone for your reply :) Sadly though I had to return it. Was up all night wondering what to do. First off, I couldnt stop looking at the guitar. I mean, DAMN, was just beautiful. I did play if for a couple of hours, and remembered I had a similar neck at that thickness, and never got used to them. I have small hands so I need a smaller neck. Wish you customize the neck a bit, cause I would of kept it.

I did do something nice though. With the money I got back for it, I could of gotten a guitar of similar value. But this weekend was my best friends birthday, and he has a family of 4. He has NEVER owned a new guitar, and nor can he afford one. So I split the diffference. I got myself another Ibanez for about $400 and him the same but different color.

LOL, guys should of seen him LOL. He been acting like a nut all weekend. He took a picture of the guitar and sent it to all his family and other friends. Never sen him that happy ever. KId has been born into poverty. His best and most expensive guitar was a Service Merchandise guitar for about $80 brand new, that I handed him 12 years ago.

So ya, Im bummed out, but Ive bought other Satch equipment, so I cant win em all. Seeing Paul that happy made my weekend. :)

Thank you everyone for your kind words!!! Id like to talk further into this, but the news has me bothered,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Can everyone who doesnt watch the news can you look up the little boy from Maine online (dont give links, so you will haveto search news websites). His body has been found dead on the side of the road and NO-ONE knows who he is. Not everyone watches the news, and its possible anyone who knows him isnt aware of it yet. Any info can you please call SOUTH BERWICK, Maine Police or Maine State police. I know this has become nation wide, but still, nobidy has a name for him. I think his mother might be dead too, thats why she hasnt called him missing. :(

PS: Spread the word!!!! Take flyers to your local supermarket and post em. Grandma might not own a tv etc, but she does have to eat. Ugg, this story is killing me :(

JOE!!!! Your new CD is just AWESOME!! Just bought it!! I have to say Celebration is by far my fav. Its a little short, but the message is in full and it makes me 'Happy" ( Im turning on other people to your music), and everyone agree's that Celebration makes people smile.

And just a message to all out there (prob not this site) as awesome as Joe is, people, buy the CD. Kids today steal to much, and dont get it, if you steal the music, we wont have it any longer. Keep Joe going, and spend a lousy $10 (should be more) and keep Joe going.
