Spank my bottom with a wet towel - i've been a bad boy.... I downloaded Additional Creations and "Talk to Me" from the net. My only excuse is it was the only way I was likely to hear either. What are peoples views on the whole downloading thing, audiogalaxy, limewire etc I for one have never downloaded entire albums just single tracks, rareties, songs by bands I might not shell out for the whole album or have trouble finding. I reckon this is ok but I agree entirely with the problems faced by professional musicians where they are losing album sales cos people arn't buying their stuff cos they can get it for free else where. well thats just a couple of thoughts anyway....... Woo hoo, the sun returns....... after far to many days of rain i thinking this might actually be the start of summer in Scotland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think someone asked earlier if we linked and songs to specific periods or events. "Friends" and "Summer Song" I'd have to say are my most favourite ever, when i finished secondary school i played them full blast outa my car as i left, the just gimmie the most wonderful, lovely jubbly feeling inside :-)

Well, my last exam is tomorrow so wish me luck, cos after that i will be a free spirit and i've got a feeling some satch sounds will be gracing the airspace once more.

Oh yeh, if any canadians are reading this all i can say is "you were lucky this time, but next time is a whole new kettle of fish..."

Hey 2 Ton... I've not heard the SBM album yet (I know shame on my, i just havn't been in a position to get it but don't worry i'm planning a cd buying sesh soon enough) but clarky's been around on this forum for as long as I can remember which is a fair few years now. I respect his opinion. One thought to consider might be that every album produced by ur favourite artist is not the best thing since sliced bread. Joe has his good days, his bad days and his inspired days. Could it be possible that ur overlooking the musical relevance of the album simply because it's "JOE'S NEW ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Anyway to cover me against all sorts of flaming and mud slinging i'll remind u that I still havn't heard the album yet but as soon as I do i'll post my thoughts.

Sorry I havn't posted for a while, hopefully I'll become a bit more regular :-) (bran and prunes me thinks)

S'later Phatman...

PS I'd like to get some recording software for my computer nothing to extravegant, any suggestions?

Hey Y'all whats up in satchland....

Been reading through whats been goin on over the weekend so though i'd add my own points of information...

My Current rig is Ibanez RG270 - Morley Bad Horsie-Laney TF700 12w head with 4*12 cab I sometimes use my Zoom GFX707 to get specific sounds but i love the distortion the laney provides

I finally got SBM, havn't listen to it loads yet but i'll get round to it. 1st impressions were that it is one of JOes most diverse albums yet... It's got everything from slow numbers to hefty rocky stuff to wee experimental offerings. I really like the song "Belly Dancer" reminds me of somewhere between Surfing and the Extremist. Is it just me or does SleepWalk sound like just a bit of fun between Joe and Mr Fripp... I would definatly love to here another couple of covers from the man, tuck one in the set list Joe.

Still havn't got my webcast to work. I use Aol when i click on the link a new screen comes up with the progresse meter for the video. The bar starts to move across the meter but no video shows :-(

Should be getting a new computer of my very own in a couple of weeks so maybe i'l get an iuma.com site set up with some of my choice musical morsals to offer.

Hey everybody, how goes it all....

Just thought i'd let people know Al DiMeola, Uli John Roth and Yngwie Malmsteen are touring the UK in November looks to me like a poor mans G3. I've never heard any of there stuff other than the obligatory "Race with the devil..." and some of the big Yng tunes. Saw Uli play G3 with Joe and Michael Schemker in Glasgow many moons ago on the crystal planet tour...... Anyway not sure if they're really my thing bu i'm gonna go anyway. 22nd November in Edinburgh plenty of other dates.

Anybody wanna suggest how I can get more sustain out of my current setup Ibanez RG - Bad Horsie - Laney TF700

A Local Person: Hope ur checkin the reruns on sunday nights of League of Gentlemen ----------- great fun :-)

Hey Joe, hope uv got some leads on pearly, i'm just waiting for the dumbass that knicked it to put it up on ebay.

ethn: dunno bout it being a hoax or not but the tour dates are up. I saw the advert for it in the current issue of Total Guitar. Also just had a quick peak around the net http://www.artists2events.co.uk/artists/ulijonroth.html

Phry Dom: Thanks for the help mate I might try the distortion box idea. Was considering a set up like that anyway delay, chorus etc. It does seem like they've got a full orchestra with them, should be quite a spectacle.

On my RG270 the locking trem, the bar keeps comig loose, does anyone else have this problem. I'm sometimes temptes to superglue the damn thing iun place....

PS I still think it sounds liek a "poor mans" G3. Maybe individually they couldn't pull a whole crowd, I dunno

Man, if thats true ethn that realy does suck big style, I was looking forward to a performance like that, i was gutted when Joe didn't come to scotland on the SBM tour and I couldn't make it down south for any of the gigs :-(

Yeh it is the Lo-Trs trem I know it's not the best one but at the time i bought it it was all i could realistically afford, besides I've been playing the thing for 4 years now and as I'm sure u understand the old girl has really become a part of me, ahhh ain't that cute. Was thinking i might try and glue the threads of the nut on the back that holds the trem arm with either some nail varnish or locktite.... wait and see!

Good day to you all....

Deadpool: He man, you know what i'm talking about with that trem... I kno9w what u mean. If u have it tight and u move it outa the way it eventually comes loose. I have it set so that when it's tight it sits below the strings but above the volume knob. Then with a quick flick of the wrist I can knock it so it spins round and hangs loose vertically. I can usually pick it up from there to give the odd waggle. For more complex tricks gargling, scoops, screams etc. All it needs is another quick flick to bring it back round to sit where i want it.

Lambic: See if u can find a pic of it on the net somewhere. the bar doesn't push in/pull out. It screws into a socket which is in turn through the body of the trem unit. This is quite hard to explain. It is infact the part that the bar screws into that loosens. So I'm thinking a wee bit of locktite on those threads would go down a treat :-)

Morley Bad Horsie Does anyone on here own one of these fine pedals. I was messing with mine last night and managed to trace the potentiometer that determines the switch of time. For those that don't know the badhorsie switches off when u remove ur foot from the pedal. If u want to try it have a go, cos u can't really go far Wrong. The pot is located on the bottom left of the unit (battery at the top) Play around with it but I think clockwise lengthens the time, anti-clockwise shortens it. I love it now, mine switches off as soon as my foot leaves the pedal :-)

Check this out, one of the coolest videos I have ever seen, theres various sites aorund the net with it heres one of them It's a montage of the 2001 WRC played along to Linkin Park "In The End" Kick Ass.....

Hey Jblaze1:Love the thought of two wahs lined up :-)

I know what u mean about having the wah set in one position for different tonal properties but i'm not really bothered about that. I guess if u wanted it set up likw that for a song an bit of gaffa tape would hold it in place nicely???

Stu_hacking:The Little Aligator pedal is another Steve Vai creation. It's a volume pedal clear and simple.

Ripping the webcast:There is a program called Streambox VCR and it'l save streaming video/audio u should be able to download it from somewhere, just search google. Then it's easy enough to download a program to convert it to whatever file type u want mpg, avi etc....

Whojackafibby: That is one cool picture :-) nice...

Dizzy: The coil tap on the JS guitars allows u to turn the humbucker pick ups into single coil pick ups. I think i'm also right in saying that the JS guitars contain a treble booster or something which prevents loss of the treble frequencies when the guitar volume is lowered...

Did any UK people here read the review of LISFS in "Guitarist" Magasine. They actually thought Stu WAS being booed. Man thats really getting to me.... It's NOT BOO it's STU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anybody know how easy it would be to change my shitty Lo-trs trem system to a better one, is it just a matter of taking one out and slotting the other in????

j1blaze:I am "of scottish blood" as u put as for the pipes, I don't play them but my brother does. I used to play in a pipe band, Milngavie, (They've got a website but i can't remeber the address of the top of my head) I was a drummer in the band. Never tried a rock/celtic fusion although i'm very tempted a band called wolfstone tried it but i reckon they were more celtic than rock, but still a pretty cool band. Try the'r song "The Battle" I played it at a ceildh, as a guest one night.... that was fun.

Anyhoo, i'll look forward to some interesting posts tomorrow morning.

Clarky:I see ur playing at JemFest on the 5th of Oct. I'd love to be there mate, but with university starting up a couple of days after I'll have things to do. Hope to hear some live recordings though....

Wes777: I use a thing called FastFret it's kinda like an oil I guess for strings. It protects them against acidy fingers and also greases them up so less wear and smoother movements.

The FretLaser thing looks well cool, I always fancied a darkened stage with just this guitar shining out. Maybe it would distract people from my poor playing ;-) lol

Dizzy: I think the picture u refer to of Joe chattin to a police dude, is from the time when he got picked up by them after playing around with a hooker.... oh wait a sec that was the Big Bad Moon Vid, oops sorry my mistake. As far as the single/humbucker thing goes a single coil produces a certain amount of hum. But by wiring two singles up one in the other direction to the other, you cancel out the distinct hum.

Just got me a Ds-1 on ebay, any suggested settings, I say one guys review on harmony-central.com saying the best way to use it is just as a volume bosst to increase sustain and let the amp do the distortion... that can't be right???

Narface: A double locking trem is found on most Floyd Rose or copy trems. The Single locking is a budget version with only locks the strings at the neck and not on the bridge. Also, u are so right about Alive in an Ultra world. What a great idea, to write a song for each country u perform in and base it one the countries traditional style and history. Amazing!!!!!!!

JS Clone1: What was that u mensioned about a trem tensioner? did it come with your guitar or can it be fitted at a later point. I like the sound of it....

PJH Sorry to hear ur still waiting for ur guitar but i'd imagine the shipping time to finland would be ages... Even so if that is the case the seller should have replied to ur e-mails it's rude not to. I bought my first thing of ebay last week, a DS-1 it arrived this morning so i'll be getting to grips with that!!!!!!
