Oh yeah... keep forgetting. I finally saw the 2 Towellers on Fried hay. Quite impressive. Although I was very "interested" to see the ladders fitted perfectly on the wall top...I guess they had a few practice runs before the real battle...(I refer to Helms Deep of course.) I was looking forward to what the ents would look like, and wasn't disappointed! But let's just say I still don't like Freddo.

#Ahem# pardon me while I go fishing for compliments...

Nah stuffit. Instead I'll just say how good I am...

Also, when I first heard "Flying etc" my first thought was to quit school too...

Okay enough of that:

Nick: a while back I got curious about "whookam" thinking "hmmm, some of that sounds backwards" so I ripped it into wav and turned it backwards. I kept it as mp3, still have it. A fair bit of it is Sex & Religion, but most of it is plain rubbish. Still can't quite figure out everything that's said. "Holy Mary! Mother of God! And blessed are the <something something>" Pretty sure I mentioned it back then...must've fallen on deaf ears!

My favourite "backwards bit" is the end of Free as a Bird by the Beatles. "turned out nicely heh heh heh"

PhrygMobile: Faith No More...they were the ones that shocked everyone with the "Easy" song weren't they?

Clarky is right, many players of nu-metal are skilled, just not in solo stuff. You can tell their ears are very sensitive to tone, volume and speed discrepancies. Plus what they compose seems to be very pleasing to the ear, despite its *apparent* simplicity.

Baustin Bun: curious that you claim evenings are the busiest times. I'm usually here in the US evening, and I'll be the first to post a message for ages, and no one else for another hour or more.

I went to the cinema to see some documentary about the world trade centre buildings, and when I got in there, there was all this business about this "one ring" and all these weird looking blokes having a barney and I was thinking:

"Man, where are those aeroplanes? I don't remember anything about tree blokes knocking down the towers..."

Hey everyone!

Ovation: you don't mean nananana-thirteen?

Leanna: you've pulled out a blinder! Good find. I reckon it's more like a 20 minute version! Just imagine the 2 Towers at that speed. It'd take 5 minutes, what with the Helms Deep scene cut to a few seconds!

Everyone that said something to me: yep. Just acknowledging you all, without using any effort to make an intelligent reply.

Well, cricket on soon, so I'd better rack off and get lunch happening.

BEN

PS h302 I agree your name is just too anonymous. It's like 4nj5jio4jn4i6nds390 it just means nothing to me. Try something meaningful like: "Engelbert" or "Sum Yung Gai" or "15 Chests On A Dead Man's Bum, A Yo-Ho-Ho, A Yum-Hum-Hum" OR you can ignore my advice completely!

G'day them all guys n that

Leanna: I'm not a VH fan and only know a couple of their songs, but Crystal Planet off LISF sorta sounds like "not-Joe" if you know what I mean. I don't know what it is, but man I thought it sounded wicked. Really really 80s, (70s?)but wicked.

Clarky: only 4 minutes? Man, that's the chorus. Played 3 or four times during the song. Intro (not including fade in) has to be at least 5. You've also got the ending, incorporating the chorus and intro plus fade out, with massive improv solo. 3 minute drum roll optional. Then the cymbal roll starts. (All other instruments: "Duuunnnn...")

If you're already on a new song within 45 minutes, you're cheating the audience.

Dragonchild: 5 minute version? More like 2 minutes. I've only seen Life of Brian right through once. My favourite bit is the Suicidal (?) Samaritans (?).

Yoda: it's okay, I had girls thinking I was way older than I am. Must have been the big furry animal on my neck. (Unbeard) Thank Razor it's gone.

Later all, going out for lunch, they're probably waiting!!!

Yeah, PhryDom try that one. Don't shave below the jawbone for 10-12 weeks. I think I can claim that one as original. I've definitely never seen it on anyone else. And I'm never doing that again!!!

But never say never...

Howdy ho!

That Trogdor thing was...well...amusing. Strong Bad is cool, that song was awful, but in a good way.

Nick: HA! That'd probably work! You'd be a massive hit if you carried a koala everywhere! I'd have to do something about the big claws though, I don't want it to slash my jugular vein...

Ethn: "make-out movie" !!! Fighting words indeed!

OCPS470: "bad Meatloaf" does that mean it was good, or really really bad?

'ello.

Clarky: "I love you so much I could shit" is that one copyrighted?

R6R: whoah...I'd be careful with the "we will adjust the truss rod" we don't want another Natsa incident!

Well today was a perfect chance to check out all these IUMAs but I left my earphones at home so next time (if there's time)!

Nick: I think you'll find that even after your "Friday arvo edit" you still have a spelling error.

I wish that I could fly in a blue dream through not just exams but through life in general...

Joe, Crushing Day still does it for me after all this time! Thanks!

Hey Joe and all Joe's fans!!!

Migupais: yeah you're right! But it's easier to float/fly than go up and down all the time.

Leanna: "I'd freak out if I saw a shark...especially Jaws" heh heh I misread it as "Jews" I was thinking WTF?!?

Mark London: (DCK?) had a listen. Me like, me do.

Local Person: I often quote stuff from Flying Circus but only seem to get the right reaction when I say "something completely different" or "is this the room for an argument" nobody recognises "I love animals...that's why I like to kill 'em." or "eeerrhh! An hoop! Oh we are grahnd aren't we"

Son of Smithers: go back and read between your two posts, the questions you re-asked were all answered.

Anibur: I just looked at Carol's site...WOW!!! What a talented family! And the likeness! If you saw her down the street you'd think "hmm, I know that face..."

Happy hundreds, ladies!!!

BEN

PS that Alex vd Linde site is downloading slowly...I usually expect less than a minute to dl...still waiting...boogie was good...

No, I mean it! I thought "wow, she looks so familiar"

I find it so hard to believe that people can paint/draw with so much detail and make it look so real! Those oil paintings look almost like photos!

Until I find the damn CD, my favourite Vai track will continue to be the 1:14 snippet of "Frank" off the Ultra Zone. Can't get enough. I've never heard such a low sound for a ballad-y guitar instrumental.

Later all, gotta go to the stupidmarket so I can have a late brekky! No food in da house! Wow, weekend over already...

Clarky: remind me to not let you name my kids!

Why don't you ask Joe to play the 7 string rhythm...I'm sure he's got heaps of time up his sleeve...he'd be out to UK to play in one of his fan's bands like a shot...

R6R: Paddington Bear can have my marmelade...I just don't see the attraction...

NO POLITICS PLEASE!!! You know what always happens...

(Fawlty) "...and don't mention the war!" "Ah, wonderful - wunderbar..."

I just thought that seemed appropriate.

Later BEN...PS do you think I should put a few more blank lines in there? It seems a bit cluttered up...

Hey all!

Good to see Joe Satriani in there with the cowbell...

FOR PEOPLE WHO THINK CRICKET IS BORING:

Last night I got home after a meeting and turned on the TV to catch the last hour and the game had already finished. The Aussies had creamed them, getting the runs with only 1 out. And I missed all the excitement. Typical.

Dragonchild: this album is different to their releases on smaller labels (which had a lot of shouting and weird drum beats) there is a lot more vocal harmonies. Overall it's a cross between Tool and P.O.D. They still have heavy guitars, shouting and (some) weird drums but more "talented musician" oriented. (Less "raaah" and more "laaah".)

IDPLMAL

PhryDom: (if you're not gone for a while...) so much time so little to do - Ch. and the Choc. Factory

Don't disappear for too long now...

I was just going to give someone a prize for their improvement in spelling, until I found 1 small error...never mind.

Heh heh I love reading through the archives.

"Remember when..."

Every time I think of the song "Memories" it reminds me of moments (and people) in my life that made me feel content, and that opening riff just goes around in my head as I daydream about stuff from ages ago that felt like yesterday (and I wish was today). *sigh*

Hey Silmarien seems like you've been having lots of "big craps" lately...hope the drains aren't clogged up. (!) Seriously, don't let it get on top of you. Large quantities of Satch are what you need!!!

Wow, I've been on here for too long. Gotta get on with the "daily breadwinning" and stuff.

What I don't understand is that most high speed street accidents from USA seem to be drivers losing control of their vehicles and hitting walls/overturning etc, yet you'd think side-on collisions would be common at intersections.

Dave/Leanna: my friend's band ("Grrr") have a song called "Temptation" with a recurring line "You know it always seems to me, it takes a stronger man to turn the other cheek - and walk away."

Brilliant advice, I've found.

Clarky: You've got me there, I've never heard of Durex. Is it sticky tape or something? Or some "adult toiletry" in UK?

What's that stretchy plastic/rubber stuff called again? Ends in -ex I think. (Not Spandex!!! Welcome to the 80s...)

Hey all

Austin: latex was the exact word I was looking for!

HiGain: I don't think Midnight Oil could go on without him. It would be like Crowded House without Neil Finn, Chisel without Jimmy Barnes, Nirvana without Kurt Cobain, Foo Fighters without Dave Grohl etc.

Just imagine Jon Stevens (from that 80s band Noiseworks who replaced Michael Hutchence in INXS) singing "The time has come...to say fair's fair...etc" it wouldn't work. I doubt anyone can dance as well as Peter Garrett. When I say well...

2 Ton: I bought that CD (one by one) the day before it was released in USA. Have it all sounds like an Aussie band from the 90s called Custard. Good song too!

Clarky: wow well I've never heard the name Durex before but I guessed it pretty well! I don't take any notice of sticky tape brand names. It's all sticky tape to me. I have heard some people say cellotape or scotch tape but I don't condone that kind of behaviour. (Referring to a product by an example of it.)

Mowlie: yellow device with the red and black probes = multimeter

Leanna: it's good if you can be the stronger man, bad that it has to happen. Does that answer your question?

Back in a sec...

Vladitzu: they are saying "Stu". We don't exactly know why he isn't in the band lineup at the moment, it's one of those things that happens.

And it is NOT because SBM was a rock album. Crystal Planet is one of the best and who played on that one?

Man you guys talking about all this tech sound stuff. Everyone reckons I'm a sound man because I man the desk and do the electrical stuff. That's only because I'm not (currently) in a band and no-one else will do it. I feel I know nothing when I hear you guys...

One question: concert pitch. I've heard it mentioned a zillion times. Does this mean there are different standards for notes to be tuned to? Or is it the standard and everything else is just "close enough" or something?

Far out, missed Australia's innings again. Had another meeting last night. First final and it was over way before I got home, and they were showing Police Academy 3. I'll find out the score at some stage...
Dave: I agree, if a "barney" is required, private sure does less damage than public. Been there. Whoops.

Later folka-dots, big week coming up, and it all starts with a big weekend starting tonight! Gotta get these applications in this arvo! Ooh! Lunchtime!

Oh yeah, one more thing, if anyone can remember back to the first generation of Transformers (the one with Optimus Prime, Megatron and Bumblebee etc) there were those Dinobots, (Dinosaur Autobots) and one of them was called Slag. There was also Snarl, Swoop and a couple more.

Anyone who wants to know about "that scroll" email me at mylifeisnotworthit@ninja.com.

Hey all (just quickly!!!)

D C K: about that ring...that explains an awful lot!

Clarky re concert pitch: I've heard about Bb Ab instruments etc, but don't know why they can't just call it whatever note it is instead of transposing music. I guess there's a reason...in the case of guitars that's just slack. I have mine down to C and just think of it as a different instrument to E guitar.

Fablawyer: had you mentioned the weird capo thing before? Or did I hear of it from another source? Sounds like my kinda thing!!!

Leanna: I wasn't complimenting or insulting you, I was offering advice.

Trutina: you're not Ethn's uncle are you?

Alright, gotta run...I'm supposed to dress in Blues Brothers stuff but I've got no hat...I'm on drums so it shouldn't matter?

Hello!!!

Clarky re alt. tuning: I understand completely how it works, but I don't see how making something more complex in order to simplify it is really justified. (in this case)

Plum Loco: it's not a full septic tank is it? Okay now I just read the next guy's post...maybe it is. Okay so it wasn't.

Yikes!!! I'll be late!!! 8:45, gotta fly!

G'day again...

Just got up to the post I made yesterday, will read today's quickly! Gotta run soon...

HiGain: Living End headlined a tour in the US a few years ago I think. They've been pretty quiet for a bit. I bet Foo Fighters was awesome. I wish I could have gone. (I thought they weren't allowed in the country? Dave Grohl had a criminal record for drink driving or something?)

Clarky: I didn't mean you were making it complex, I meant transposition and all that jazz seemed an unneccessary complexity to try and simplify something. Like taking a detour in order to take a shortcut.

yikes I'll be late later!!!
