SteveVai4: you mongrel!!! I paid $35!!!

McDave: I literally said "fair dink'?" (short for fair dinkum - Aussie slang...basically if something is fair dinkum then it is totally true/real...but often it is used as a question you would probably ask as "truly/really?", hence why I said "I mean really?") out loud when I read about that pedal. So it is then?!? That's cool.

BEN

PS I said before once that every time I open "talk to Joe" the song "talk to me" comes to my head..."Talk to Joe, talk to Joe, lalalalalaaaa..."

Austin: I think I will too! It's been a while. Right after I go home to get the washing in and go to the stupidmarket...yikes, it's 4:30 already.

I'm hungry.

Austin: it's coloured dots...

Mick: it was Counting Crows. Dave someone. I think the guitarist from Black Crowes is Jimmy Page? Joe Satriani did not give him guitar lessons.

Clarky: how about "diligence"?!?

R6R: R6R is right. Stop trying to contradict him.

Trutina: did you see the Blackadder movie where he meets Shakespeare and punches him in the face? Can't remember the quote, but it's along the lines of "that's on behalf of all English students for the next x00 years" "and that's for Hamlet"

Dave: I'll send you a postcard of outside (not raining)

McDave: I meant the sticker! I'm sure it's a great pedal!

Later, the weekend beckons...but there're still things to do!

Too many posts...

Austin: I couldn't hear the voice without my earphones on. (Speakers are disabled in here...) Yeah I didn't know much about the Black Crowes, I've just seen the CD in the shops "Jimmy Page & the Black Crowes" I wasn't sure if he was a permanent member or not!

McDave: you'll be sticker-ing all the way home then!

Greg: ah! Yep, "Blackadder There & Back Again" that's the one. You've obviously seen it more than me (once)

ooo I'm a naughty boy I skipped 5 pages...

MegaBoyd: no way...is that you guys with Mike Keneally?!? Long thinned hair and grey beard?!? Yikes he's aged fast.

Austin: I'll be there...as long as you pay my airfare and accommodation...or someone does anyway.

Very busy weekend. I hate being busy on weekends.

Count Fool, the Earl of Stupid. Lord of all Dumb.

Austin: no I shouldn't check them out, because I'm broke, and so is my bass drum.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

My bass drum head is split right up the middle...looks crap...sounds rotten...breaks my heart...I need it fixed by Sunday morning or I'll be crying the whole time (probably not, but it's all I'll be thinking about) and the "Pearl" writing just shattered so if I tape it back up it'll still look awful...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Forget the week and its problems, these don't compare!

Michelle & others: That link came from Kevan on the vai.com forum.

R6R: I read that Darwin Award 2-3 years ago too...what I'd like to know is how they could produce such a detailed story after both of them died with no-one else present?...

Hmmm.

LISF DVD was cheaper than the CD for me too, but the CD was a US import, whereas the DVD was Australian made.

Austin: she's partly right..."anyone can sit down and write some boring artistic song"...it takes something more to write a good one. However, writing good pop music is probably harder. I haven't heard much decent pop for years. Sad but true.

Clarky: or you could just jam jam jam the whole time, and then when "Avarice" comes in the mail you'll still be jamming...you won't have to stop.

R6R: "chief inspecteaur..." Peter Sellers was great.

Does Britney Spears even write her own music? (It's all the same...you can sing "oops I did it again" over "baby one more time")

Alan Schrader: your name is no stranger to me

Jelly Man: ah, but you missed the point. The point is, it's harder to write a good pop song than a good "artistic" song. (Whatever your view of artistic is...)

Think something really tricky to play/score/tab...anyone can come up with something boring of that vein. Only the greats (or the dedicated) can produce something worth listening to. Anyone that produces something pop that is good, deserves more accolades than what exists.

100 points for anyone that can understand that bile.

R6R: I like the bit on "Revenge of the Pink Panther" where Jaques Cousteau is in the lunatic asylum, (mistaken for Claude Russo dressed as a hooker who they thought had killed Cousteau) and he calls an inmate "crazy" then the warden (or whatever) says:

"We don't call people that here."
"Well what do you call them?"
"Now, now..."
"He is very now-now if you are asking me!"

Heh heh good value. I want to watch those movies again. Wish I had a VCR or DVD player!

Gotta run, BEN

Nick: do you do anything but sit at the computer? jk

DCK: okay...it's campchaos I think. I don't have time right now to find the link, but in 1-2 hours I'll get it up for ya.

R6R/Dave: I was thinking "man, what is this, Dave and the Troll? JSClone1 and Avarice?"

Austin/Jelly: you're right, but I was saying in literal terms her comment was correct.

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED IN SATCHLAND BETWEEN LAST EVENING AND THIS MORNING?!? YOU'VE ALL GONE NUTS ON THE POSTING!!!

DCK: Click Napster Bad

They're in reverse order, so watch the bottom one first, then work your way up. My faves are "napster bad", "metallicops", "millionaire" and "sue all the world" (a few cameos in there)

Jelly Man: forget it I'm not really interested in this discussion anyway. Just arguing for argument sake.

Welcome back Silmarien

I don't care for Metallica much, I have the "Metallica" album, mainly for nostalgic purposes. My ear isn't quite attuned enough to detect his "out of key" notes, but I don't doubt he does. I don't like their stance on the mp3 issue (and I love that napster bad series). It's quite obvious to hear that Kirk has a strong Satch influence. That's where I draw the line. To speak more truthfully the first line of this paragraph: "I hate Metallica", especially their popularity in the last 6-7 years. I haven't heard their early stuff but don't really care if I don't.

Sorry about the attitude, but it is washing day and there are thunderstorms outside.

Nick that driving thing was hilarious. Even without the sound (whether it made a difference or not)

McDave: it's different to the others...but I love it. (Time Machine, I mean)

Austin: the correct way to seperate groups of digits is no longer with a comma, but with a space: eg 12 345 678

Yeah, so 17 pages is a lot to go through...but that's not many considering it was 6 days of posts!

Silmarien: I know what you mean. I have exams soon too. All the hard ones at the start, and the ones I don't need to study much for at the end.

Avarice: the BeeGees would make it a G4, because there's only 2 of them left.

McDave: BG3...good one

this is insane, I'm only up to page 4...

Ovation: I love to listen to Jonathan Mover's live stuff. His studio recordings aren't as good, but he adds a little intensity that Jeff doesn't seem to have. Don't get me wrong, he's pretty good, but the Jon has more "flavour".

I love what Manu Katche did on "Joe Satriani" that was cool. I actually tend to call that "the cool album" referring both to the first track name, and the overall feel of the album. The drums make it so different from the others.

10 pages to go...be back later!!!

Dave: how long are those G3 songs? I assume they're huge if they're 9 & 12 MB...

Look out everyone, it's the Elusive Ethn...

Never heard of "poon" before...

Greg: maybe Joe was going bald...I'd shave it if I was going bald. Then no-one knows if you are or aren't.

Wow, Avarice getting crazy on the niceties...

back in a sec

Why the heck did Joe never play with Noel Redding? (Or did he?)

Dirk left Incubus...interesting.

Gotta run, nothing is finished, everything is still to be completed...this has been a pain of a week...

Clarky: the tricky bit is getting back to the original "speed" I often find!

Silmarien: exams start in 3 weeks, but all my assignments are due in the meantime. (AAARRRGGGHHH!!!) I hate not knowing whether I passed or not, but if you tried hard to study, and tried hard in the exam then you can't feel guilty. Just let down. (if you fail I mean)

Dave: favourite smell - white chocolate

Trutina: drunk people would get grog delivered and Mr Delivery would get abused/beaten/shot.

happy days! BEN

Boris the Spider?!? Right...

Climber: the talk2joe songs were supposed to be ready by the end of March, but this was extended 3 weeks. You are almost a month too late. The project was announced months ago. After the deadline, too late is too late. Plus Dave is not the one to send them to.

Dave: you can reformat if you want, but I downloaded them the other day anyway. I forgot to delete the question from my post...

gotly go...back lating.

Ovation: Jonathan strikes me as one of those drummers that likes to play a gig, but not necessarily commit to the band and its music. This has its good and bad points. Just an observation I made.

Who is Fhqwghads? Sounds familiar.

Dave: I thought you said "fly in your pants for that" for a second there...

Boyd: not talking to you now...you're not cool anymore.

Those "jams" are pretty good...the Satch one reminds me of a Flyin' Fingers track. (The backing I mean)

Hey, I'm listening to the G3 Hendrix songs now. I don't know JP's sound, but I can hear Satch and Vai here and there. Man, these recordings are a year old yesterday!

Cool. Weekend again. This time it's gonna be a weekend off. Yeah.

Ovation: one idea I had was to have 2 drummers, both with bass snare hi-hats, but one with heaps of drums, the other with heaps of cymbals. In this case I reckon it'd be perfect for Jeff to have all the cymbals and Jonathan to have all the drums. Imagine that...they'd both be there trying to outplay each other cutting sick...

Ian J F: the self titled album is great. It's not exactly classic Satch rock, but it's a great album.

Ethn: DRAGON (I have the Trogdor mp3)

Avarice: as long as you don't spoil it for me...I'm waiting for it to come out on TV...

I think it was Megaboyd with the thingy, yes? Austin says yes...that's encouraging...

Jim E: I love that track. Gotta listen very carefully. It's very much like techno music in that way. Loud & clear or not at all.

gonna play soccer!!! Later, BEN
