First of all, happy 200th post to Austin and happy 100th to Death Cube K!!!

Secondly, welcome back (?) Avarice, it's been relatively quiet...
Thirdly, to Remager: if you click on the "n posts total" under someone's name, it does exactly what you requested.
SOME ADVICE PLEASE!!! Yesterday I found 5 Dream Theater CDs, and I can get them for A$29 (@$15US) IS IT WORTH IT? The guy that brought them in also had a whole heap of Yngwie but I don't want his stuff. I've never heard DT before, and I've been told they're pretty good, but I don't want to risk it.

Awaiting response...

BEN

Nope. Same message: --please wait...

Weeeeird.

I'll take up the DT offer tomorrow, I've got some free time. (I'll be broke for the next few weeks though.) 5 CDs for A$29!!! Heh heh! SBM alone would cost @30-35! (If I could find it)

Any last minute yea/nay will be considered...

I JUST THOUGHT I'D TYPE IN ALL CAPS TO ANNOY YOU ALL. YEP, IT'S PRETTY DAMN OBVIOUS THAT I'M TRYING TO GET YOUR ATTENTION, AND THIS SHOUTING BUSINESS MUST BE THE WAY TO DO IT. YEP...

Listened to a whole heap of Dream Theater samples on Portnoy's site. They sorta sound like the old Metallica, and Christian bands from the 80's. (Minus the synthesizers!) Not too shabby, I'll do the deal.

BEN

PS on GNOD, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are almost right on top of each other!!! Check it out!

Well sorry Jose, (elpp) I went there this morning and THEY WERE GONE!!! THE BLOKE BROUGHT THEM IN ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND NOW THEY ARE GONE!!! UN-BELIEVIT! I was so bummed out. Mind you, the Yngwie CDs he brought in are still there...

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I don't understand is that you can't get any Dream Theater from normal CD shops. SO WHO'S THE BARSTOOL THAT GOT THEM?

I've had a stroke of genius, when my parents go on holiday to UK next month, I'll get them to buy me SBM!!! YEAH!!! You beauty! Yio Bi-o-tay! I'll be the 3rd Aussie with the CD (after Hi Gain and Axebearer)
What is the "moooo" all about? (heh heh heh) Why the MOOOOO?

Joe: it is rather disappointing to read about your guitar! I certainly hope that if it was stolen that WHEN it is returned it is still in good condition, and if it was misplaced that it will be identified and returned in good condition!

Elpp (Jose): You must understand that Dream Theater is virtually unheard of here. I never knew they existed until G3 was announced last year. And I'd never seen any (okay, I saw a live one once) CDs anywhere before.
Last night was "Comfort Zone" and entry was free if you brought your own beanbag...naturally I couldn't pass that up. I got to watch some good local bands in my little comfort zone. The requirement was that they played "acoustic", so my mate the drummer from the main band borrowed my rods because he normally uses heavy sticks. It was a waste because he played as hard as he normally does...he promised that he'd get me some new ones. I had to use them this morning, and spent most of the practice time taping them back together.
Never mind. It was a good night.

Howdy ho, neigh-diddlyay-bours! I forgot this last time, but let's all give a big "HAPPY 100th POST TO Michelle!!!"

Joe please get some kind of contract that releases your new albums in Australia? All that's been released in the last few years is your old ones (again). What is going on? I want to hear SBM! I don't want to buy some fandangley re-issue of NOTE which looks & sounds exactly the same as the CD I got years ago.
20%! Makes you think doesn't it?

To all those guys that are unable to see concerts because they are underage, I feel real sympathy for you. It must be frustrating to spend all your money and not be able to see the show. I'd be so cranky it would take quite an effort to compensate. The disapointment that goes with dashed hopes is very tough to get over, I really hope you get to see Satch again.

(I hope I get to see him actually!)

As one Artanis once said, "I concur" (amongst other short phrases such as "consider it done" "for Aiur" etc)

DO WE HAVE ANY WOBERTS?
Does anyone have any advice for a person that accidentally had Bon Jovi in his head all morning? How does he avoid this situation? What remedies are available when one is mobile with no means of getting Satched?

Hey Phydeaux, maybe they weren't BOOing Tomahawk, maybe they were MOOing them?!?
Ovation nah, it was like: "Sing really hard, and drive me insane, you give drums a bad name...auuiiiiowww, awowwowwowww..."
I've seen an instructional video by Tico Torres, and he's actually pretty good. Why he only ever goes "boom chish boom chish" the whole way through every single song I don't know. Makes drummers like me cringe.

This is why public toilets in the UK are closing down:

One council official told BBC News Online: "Vandalism is a big issue and the health and safety regulations are getting tighter. But public toilets also attract other anti-social elements, such as drug users, homosexuals, tramps and - even in our prosperous part of the country - 'ladies of the night'."

HAHAHA ladies of the night

Any Englishmen (male or female) that can tell me how much you would normally pay for a CD? I'm going to see about getting SBM from there.

Death Cube K:Bummer gig rehearsal!

TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT ARE INTERESTED IN SBM AND THE LACK OF IT IN AUSTRALIA, GUESS WHAT I BOUGHT TODAY!!!

CORRECT!!! and it cost me A$34. (That equates to 12 1/4 pounds sterling and $18.70 US.) In my opinion that is expensive. Just finished the first complete play. I like the different style overall. Went into town to get a fathers day present for sunday, got exactly what I wanted the first shop I went into, then ten metres down the road decided to check if SBM was resident. Imagine my elation. It had those import stickers on it.

Well, I'm definitely pleased right now.

Oh yeah, that's what I forgot. Dweezil Zappa was on all the news last night with the trashed Hendrix guitar. (Restored by Mr. Frank Zappa) Going for auction sometime soon estimated at a few million! Yikes! Maybe you should by it Joe! It's a Strat I think. Swap it with whoever has Pearly?!? No?!?

ALL YOU DUTCH FANS: get in there where Antonio mentioned and find if it's Joe's guitar or not! We might not be able to work out who flogged it off, but at least it'll be retrieved.

Can't be bothered commenting on anyone else's posts, because I'm too enthralled in STRANGE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!!! Joe!!! You are a GENIUS!!! How you manage to make all this stuff remind me of old songs of yours, yet not sound like any of your other CDs amazes me. I think the major difference between this and the others is the presence of more modern "chord riffs" as apposed to old-school "note riffs" you used to do. Also a higher concentration of rhythm guitar (acoustic & electric) and multiple guitar tracks makes this album stand out above the others right now.

Of course in time CP, SWA and JS will be on a par when modern style evolves further, but for now, SBM is struggling to exit my CD players. (Except to add to my CD database on my computer. It is rare for a CD to take in excess of 48 hours to get from my CD player to my computer! It went straight back afterwards too!

NonSmoker: happy 100th! I think you're right though, it is a bit suspicious...however who's to judge? It's not their fault if anyone's.

Yup, we held "The Underground" again last night. It was fantastic. Volume levels were much better than last time, and all the bands played well. Unfortunately most people turned up after the first band "EGM" had played. We had a new band "Capacitor" whose guitarists have played acoustic a number of times before. "Grrr" (what's left of them) played acoustic guitar versions of their songs because they still can't get a new bass player. Finally "HALF CUSHION" blew us all away (again) and played a flawless set. The drummer broke his own sticks this time, and reimbursed me for last week. The sound was spot on from the word go. I've never worked so hard at a gig.

MrSamickMan: HiGain found a SBM CD in Victoria, (not sure where) and I bought one in Launceston (Tas) at an independent store, after looking everywhere for 2 months. If you look in all the stores in your area that sell imported CDs, it might take a while, but keep going back once a week or so, there's bound to be one show up somewhere eventually. Warning, it'll probably cost over $30. Good luck, I hope you find it!

Favourite songs off the new album are:
Mountain Song
What Breaks A Heart
The Traveller

BUCK THE HUM!!! You bucking hum...

To all those people that keep calling Joe a god, IT IS JOE NOT GOD!!! BTW, what the heck was that Nigel Tufnel business on that video? What a weirdo.
Ovation: the Angel would be from "Julian Angel Vai" not Julian & Angel Vai. That is my understanding anyway. If Steve himself wants to tell me I'm wrong, that is fine by me.

PS Buck that hum, baby...

Oh yeah, if you want to counter-act your acidic fingers/hands, try a little baking soda on your fingers. It may take some getting used to, but it's worth a try.

BEN

PS I could have edited the above post, however then noone would really know the reason for the edit. This way, everyone knows what is additional, and that nothing was removed or changed. Who gives anyway...

Welcome back It is Austin not Stu, there is no real news apart from the fact that T2J has been awash with Canadians pumped from the show the other day. Not sure if you got MY news however, (bought SBM on Thursday) and I think I've almost overplayed it already.

Can't remember who said this, but my fave is also "The Traveller" but wait a week or so until I've flogged it to annoyance levels.

Later all, BEN

PS BUCK the HUM!!!

That ghost thing, definitely a brown trousers occasion.

Has anyone ever done a "google" search on their name? There might be some information on you you didn't want to be so publically accessible...

Love the wahwah on The Traveller. Joe you're a genius.

BEN

PS Anyone notice YoYoBangBang hasn't been here since the concert review he gave? That is quite a long time ago...
