Do2222 - the drawing for the satch tape dvd winners will be nov 25th, after which we'll start the contest for the anthology giveaway.

all - a new satriani.com newsletter just went out in email and should be arriving in everyone's mailboxes shortly (unless you turned off that preference in your profile). i will post it to the news section in a day or so.

juju808 - there are a *lot* of copies of the newsletter to send out, so yours probably just hasn't arrived yet. give it a little time, and i'll also be posting it on the site shortly.

some folks outside of the US had asked about release dates for the satch tapes dvd and anthology so i asked and the answer i got back was "January/February", so keep your eyes and ears open around that time :} i also updated the discography pages accordingly.

just a quick note to let y'all that i finally got around to starting to clear out all of the old photos that people have sent in for the road section. i've made it through most of the SBM tour pix and will move into the g3 ones shortly.

in other news, there's a lot of new stuff coming up and i'll have news for you soon on all it!

other answers---

the chat hasn't been touched for a while and probably won't be updated for some time still.

typically there actually isn't much extra merch left-- the whole idea is to only make as many as can be sold. however, i'm back to discussing ideas about bringing some merch online in *some* capacity. but don't hold your breaths just yet :}

thanks for the typo note on the archive vault-- i fixed it (ovation1)

i don't have any updated info on the 2004 JS-1200 yet...

i will be posting the entire interview of mikesb's in the archive vault sometime soon.

ok, i was able to get a focused afternoon to work through all the emails and i now have dealt with everything that has been sent. more fans w/ joe photos than in the past, but still some really killer live shots from some folks over the last year!

check it all out by clicking on the (p) next to dates in the road section. click on the links at the bottom of the page to go back to previous shows over the past few years.

all - check the home page for the latest news :} and, btw, credit goes to austin lewis for the idea for the new poll!

Phry_STU_NOT_BOO_Dom - since the liner notes are one of the cool and unique things about the anthology release, we're not putting them all up right now. perhaps we'll do some of it in the future, though!

ovation1 - yes, there will be an msn.com chat. i'm waiting for a final set of details and then will let everyone know.

i'm also putting together a new emailer that summarizes everything going on (just waiting for joe to finish writing a little message to y'all first).

btw, i finally got around to posting mike blackburn's interview with joe from 1998 that he had posted excerpts from in t2j. it's in the vault section of the site if you want to check it out.

hey hey-- check out the new news item for the contest winners and also a new contest that epic is putting on. i've also updated some info on the G3 page about a cool thing they've done for this release where you can stick it in your computer and then access extra info online. it's so secret, i haven't checked out the footage yet myself! :}

just got joe's message for the newsletter so am starting to compile everything together and will have good news to report it in shortly!

i've got a basic listing of the G3 shows in europe that are happening this June/July with Robert Fripp (!!) as the 3rd G. check 'em out on the "Road" section and more details yet to come...

so yeah-- new site, let me know what you think and if you run into any glitches. we're sorta rushed it out the door since i'm heading to holland for the next few weeks. one of the big pieces yet-to-come is that long-promised new chat system-- this time i'm going for a flash one which i hope will solve people's java problems and also will get away from those pesky "Access denied" problems.

lots of stuff coming up in the next month, starting with the G3 DVD streams and some finalized g3 europe venues/dates and of course sound clips from the new album and no doubt a heap of cool things around it!

austin - i made the white a little brighter (what am i, a laundry detergent??) and i think it does improve readability a little bit.

things are also complicated by the fact that the gamma of windows vs. macs makes it so i had to make two different brightness versions to have the same look across platforms. some people with cranked brightness may further complicate that issue.

worst case, i can make yet another, slightly darker, version just for the TTJ section, or drop it entirely.

in response to popular demand, i've slightly faded the "JS" part of the background image. let me know if it's better for those of you who were having some problems reading over it.

to answer someone's elses question-- the image is a table background so it can't be "fixed" with text scrolling across it since it's the whole table that is scrolling.

sound samples typically show up around the release date. more news as that gets closer :}

bluebuffalo9 - no, the preferences should definitely be working. if you continue to have problems, mail me (webmaster@satriani.com) with the exact error message you get. note that if you don't mail me in the next few hours, i might not get back to that mailbox for a couple weeks because of my trip. :}

hey matt-- the quickest solution is to delete all of your satriani.com cookies and then log back in and that should take care of whatever problem you're having with the "last read" bizness.

btw, i also made it so if you have never read TTJ before (ie, never marked a 'set last read') instead of starting with post 1 from years ago, it starts with with the last 5 days of messages. that should help the newbies out some.

rustcycle - yeah, i'm sad to see that in doing checks the last day or so, of all satriani.com visitors, there were 1/2 million hits from windows folks, and only 17k from mac folks (19k from other than that, many of which were realplayer playing clips). more people should get macs!

anyways, if you see mismatched tabs at the top, you need to reload, since i updated them all to be joe's stylized font earlier. over time it'll all work itself out, too.

Ollyno1uk, and everyone - unfortunately, like in many organizations, there are a lot of crossed signals. to be brief- i make sure that i have confirmation on the info before i post it since i don't like people having incorrect info. sometimes some other sites post public info which isn't supposed to be public yet, and there's nothing i can do about that. different release and touring info is timed specifically by joe's management and i'm sync'd with them for making sure that info gets out on that schedule. you can definitely trust that i'm always on top of getting that info from them and approved to go public to all of you, though.

if sony/epic has suddenly gone up with sound clips, that's another great example of mixed messages and crossed signals since we had specifically talked about a timeframe for when that would be approved to happen (and it's not now). on the other hand, things like the G3 DVD webcast stuff happens because of our focus on making sure to bring you something that otherwise wouldn't be out there. so it's a bit of a mixed bag sometimes and i try to make sense of everything and keep all of the internet aspects in sync as much as possible.

but be assured, satriani.com will always have the latest confirmed info plus exclusive stuff about joe and his activities. if you see it elsewhere first, it's most likely something gone haywire that i'm not aware of and definitely feel free to drop me an email about it so i can see what's what.

ps: a nice day for a bike ride in holland today!

howdy! i'm back and buried in email/work but wanted to drop a quick note to all those who noticed the spain date mixups-- i just got the clarification on those shows and it's now correct. if you signed up as attending one of them, you should make sure you're still signed up for the correct show :}

more updates soon, i just was notified that epic is already starting their preorder for love in space w/ autographed copies. we'll no doubt do another giveaway of our own and i'll have details soon.

howdy howdy-- thanks for the welcome back, all. the weather was pretty decent in holland and i got a little biking in on a classic traditional old-style antique amsterdam bike that a family member restores.

for the new album clips, i added a link to the sony/epic site for now until i can get ones up here on the site. i choose decent selections that try to give you a sense of verse + chorus so they may vary somewhat from whatever sony put up.

i also added a link to a JSX giveaway contest that's happening and if you haven't already done so, check out the upcoming instores which no doubt will be a good chance to get some autographs and photos with joe!

my main priority is getting the new chat together now...

Engendros - you are right-- i was given incorrect info and the dates were wrong. i've now got what is supposed to be 100% final info and have updated the shows accordingly.

also, the belgrade show is *not* happening, but there is a new one in austria for jul 10.

hey all! the satriani.com sound clips for the new album are finally up! check it out by going into the "music" section or just clicking on the album cover on the home page.

btw, i never saw an april fool's day post! if someone has it saved, please forward to me as i'd like to see it. i didn't delete any posts, so if something disappeared, it was likely the person who posted it. i did receive a request to cancel a "JOE SATRIANl" (that's a lower case L at the end there) account since it was only going to be for an april fool's day joke. btw, i do block nicks that include "satriani" (and those with lower case Ls) just to avoid the most obvious fakes since not all fans are so savvy, esp folks who are new members.

Do The Stu - yes, you found a bug which i've fixed. gold star goes to you!

ares87 - good eyes! yes indeed, i am about to send out news about an upcoming US tour that joe will be doing with deep purple and thin lizzy! more news shortly :}

bluebuffalo - click on the "NN posts total" under anyone's nick name here in the T2J section and it will show all old posts. you can also do a more complex search by clicking on the "Advanced Search" link at the bottom of the page.

Noppa - ask and ye shall receive-- i've added the new tunes to the discography so they show up when choosing your set list now :}

also, when joe gets back from his promo road trip, he'll get me copies of the bonus tracks (tumble and dog with crown & earring) so i can put up some samples of those.

and more good news-- i have first level functionality on the new chat system, so things are moving along nicely. hopefully in the next week i'll be able to open it up for beta testing.

hi! the new chat is now in public beta. this means that basic functionality is there and it should be usable enough to further refine features and fix bugs. please check it out and let me know what you think.

it's a new option available from the usual "Live Chat" link.

important - please don't post your chat feedback here, but instead email it to me at webmaster@satriani.com. i will not be able to respond to chat questions posted here. thanks!

do the stu - the setlists are not reset since so far, joe has been interested in everyone's input, rather than just the recent folks. however, i'll check in with him to see if he wants to reset it, or perhaps change the way it works. any changes i'll of course let y'all know!

also: yes, i do have some photos that folks took at some instores which i do plan on posting the best of.

blue buffalo - no plans for joe to be on david letterman, but hey-- write in and tell dave he should invite joe onto the show :}

kokopelli13 - when having troubles with the "set this message as last read" feature, the best solution is to check your browser's cookies and just delete anything from satriani.com or .satriani.com or www.satriani.com. then you'll be fresh as a daisy ready to go!

sky ant - i wish i could tell you i'm going to call joe on the phone right now and check on that, but alas, he'd stop answering my calls if i did that for everyone who gave him a tape to listen to :} best bet is to just be patient and if he can get to it, he will.

quito - i just posted the winners of the giveaway poll contest in a new news posting

this brings me current with all t2j posts with "webmaster" in them. toodles!

howdy!

just a quick note for y'all-- i just posted more instores in the road section for this month and also have uploaded all confirmed dates with deep purple for august/sep! an emailer will be going out with this info later, but i know you regulars would want to know now.

ovation1 - i'm checking with joe on the version of dog with crown and earring. he sent it to me so it's always possible he accidentally sent something other than the final mix :}

mikesb - can you give me more info on your issue with the link url post notes?
