bahduh - what other info about the india shows are you looking for? all of the info i have is posted (ie, i don't have ticketing info-- best to check with each venue for more info). as soon as i get any other info, i'll post it, of course!

winner for the contest will be announced later tomorrow!

all - as many have already noticed, the winner for the contest has been announced and it's Austin, aka Do The Stu! congrats to him-- we'll be talking shortly and working out the best way for fans to send their questions to him to consider asking.

bahduh - i happened to talk to joe's manager today about the india dates and it sounds like there is some flux going on about the details. it should be sorted out in the next 72 hours and i'll post any changes as soon as i hear them.

about the T2J area - yes, this is a stream of consciousness area, but that doesn't mean one or two people's streams should overwhelm everyone else's :} i don't want to get into enforcing specific rules, since that just gets in the way, but i will make a few suggestions:

1) if you want to chat back and forth a few times within 30-45 minutes, the chat room is really the place for that. if you have problems with the chat room, please email webmaster@satriani.com (this includes it being down, which indeed it was and i brought back up as soon as i found out).

2) as others have suggested, when you're catching up on a lot of posts, it's best to open a post message in a new window (mac: ctrl-click on "Post Message", windows: right-click on it) and put it side-by-side with your T2J window so you can keep adding to the same message. this is a lot easier for people to read and follow.

3) to all who suggest other bulletin boards, threaded groups, etc (hi roo, it is indeed still me...)---- as is repeated periodically, this is the way joe prefers it. we talk about it every once in a while but he hasn't changed his mind so far. i would like to see some fan-run stuff eventually (esp a FAQ) but it's pretty low priority compared to a lot of the other stuff (like the upcoming webcast).

4) someone emailed me a link of a joe interview from australia which i added into the VAULT-- check it out!

a quick update - hey everyone! y'all should be proud, austin represented you very well in the interview with joe and although things were a little behind schedule and he only had time for half of the questions he had prepared, we still managed to carve out an extra 5-10 over the 15 we had set aside. this experiment of having the fans vote on someone to represent them went well enough that i feel confident we can keep doing more things like this.

the editing process on the show starts right away (looking at it right now, in fact) and i think everyone is going to be excited by the webcast. also, it's always good to meet more of y'all at shows-- i don't always have time to chat, but everyone i meet has been very cool.

the india shows -- the india shows have been confirmed as listed on the site. i don't have specific ticketing info, but if i get any i will post it in the road section.

howdy everyone! i've been hard at work these past few weeks day in and day out on editing the anaheim show for the webcast. to answer the common questions real quickly: like in the past, it will be in quicktime and be available for at least a month, so there's no need to worry about missing it!

also, i finally got more details on the india shows and tickets which i've posted in the road section.

still more to do, so back to work for me!

hi everyone! glad people are loving the webcast-- we're all really proud of it over here so it's great to see such positive feedback!

for people who are having trouble with quicktime on their computer, here's some steps to try:

1) if the plugin doesn't work, try the "view in player" links to open it up in the quicktime player instead of the browser.

2) go to the help section and try those steps

3) if it still doesn't work, try watching the content on http://www.apple.com/quicktime/guide/ to see if quicktime is actually working on your computer at all. if it isn't, then you might try reinstalling/rebooting/etc.

silent shady - ok, if you can watch quicktime movies from vai's site, then that means that the basic QT software is working, so it is probably just a streaming issue, which is often firewall-related for people. try going to that quicktime guide site and see if you can listen to something else, like the aimee mann album for example. i believe it's a stream so should be a good test.

howdy everyone, just wanted to let you know i just put up new versions of the show portion of the webcast in quicktime 7 which gives you a bigger screen size at the same bitrate. it really looks great, so check it out if you can get quicktime7 (which is only available for MacOS folks on panther or tiger-- a windows version is coming soon).

hey bahduh - i just wanted to confirm that indeed all of the aftershow pass winners are chosen completely at random by the computer. i can understand your desire to have only the "worthy" fans win, but we like to avoid any sort of ranking of people on that basis. who is to decide one person is a bigger fan than another? is it in how many shows you've attended? cds you've bought? songs of joe's you can play on guitar? we like the idea that *any* joe fan has equal access to getting backstage and meeting joe after a show-- it removes the whole heirarchy that is so entrenched in the music biz already :}

i'm sure you're all happy to see joe's personal reply to everyone's questions about his amp set up :}

howdy everyone! - it's been a crazy time the last few months. after the webcast took off with such great success i took a vacation and now i've been back fighting a nasty martian death flu for a couple weeks. cross your fingers for my quick escape from this nasty thing!

in any case, the full concert portion of the webcast has now ended, though the bonus content will continue to be available into the future. eventually, it will find its own place in the satriani.com vault.

we're in a brief quite period before announcing some great stuff that joe's been keeping very busy with! i won't spoil the suspense, but we'll of course spill the beans as soon as we can :}

as you might imagine, i'm very behind in webmaster email but will be getting started on that as soon as i'm fully recovered, which will include uploading photos & fan artwork.

if people are still having any troubles on the chat, please let me know. it might just need a nice good boot!

howdy everyone! - in case you didn't see 'em yet, here are the winners for the G3 LIVE IN TOKYO contest! i've answered other questions below...

Grand Prize Winner:
Luke Davis (Luke287)

Other Winners:
david wren (njbeast)
Jonathan Affleck (imjon)
Tye Masaki (tmasaki)
Stuart Fielding (stuart09)
Andrea Patron (wolk)
aaron sim (sim2001)
Jenifer Novak (Jenister)
Daniel Swords (DanielSwords)
simon harris (sih)

ANSWERS TO OTHER QUESTIONS

autographed versions of G3 Live In Tokyo - i tried to make this happen, but unfortunately, all three guys' schedules have them all around the place so we couldn't get them all in one place to make it happen this time around!

nascar 06 clips - i asked for some rights to put some stuff up, but nothing has come through yet. the video game world is a little different than joe's usual releases so it's not as much of a no-brainer. if anything comes through, you can count on me putting it up :} in the meantime, the only way i'm aware of getting the music is by buying a copy of the game.

in general - as you've probably noticed, i haven't been too present lately, this is because recently i became a dad for the 2nd time! all of my available time is being spent making sure the critical work stuff happens (like the satch contest!) but i'm starting to catch up a bit and will be around a little more often.

howdy everyone-- just a quick post before i head down south for the supersekret joe show. i'll be getting hard to work on editing it together and encoding it for everyone's enjoyment! we also have put together 5 awesome packages of planet waves gear and limited edition posters and signed g3 dvd/cds for another little contest-- it'll all be coming your way in feb!

i do have plans to let people upload photos into their profiles eventually-- i'll try to make it happen with the redesign that undoubtedly will accompany joe's next studio release.

more as it develops....

howdy everyone! - for those of you not keeping up on the leaking info out there, yes indeed, the new album is titled "Super Collosal" and is due to hit the streets on March 14th! the home page has gotten a small face lift today and there's a discography page with track listings and credits, along with links to pre-order your copy today. we've got a lot in the works coming up-- video podcasts, audio streams, not to mention that the NAMM webcast is gonna drop reaaaaal soon!

also, i finally got some photos from the studio session which i've uploaded into the photos section. check 'em out :}

i've been discussing this issue of leaked news with joe and mick and they are committed to getting the info out on satriani.com first, but there just always seems to be something that goes awry and gets slipped out w/out our knowledge. welcome to the music business! that said, we are going to make an effort to wrangle things better in the future so that it really will hit satriani.com first!

njbeast - if you still haven't received your prize, please let me know. sony was responsible for sending them out and they apparently were waiting on more posters to come in and held up everything for that. but the cd/dvd should have gone out weeks ago and the poster shortly thereafter. worst case, i have some spares here that i can send out if it's just not happening on their end!

chat is back up and should stay that way, but i'll keep a closer eye on it!

attention non-US contest winners! - i researched some and discovered the reason njbeast hasn't received his is that the folks from sony got no reply from their email requesting a phone number. apparently, they need a phone number in order to ship internationally. i will send out another email to the four people who they didn't hear from in an attempt to get that info. njbeast-- check your email and reply and we'll get you sorted. there are 3 other folks who also need to send me phone #-- if you know (or are) one of them, please email me today! they are stuart09, wolk, and DanielSwords.

just heard from sony that they are still waiting for posters. hopefully it'll be taken care of soon and i'll keep checking with 'em. the next contest we have everything already together so this won't be a problem again!

btw, a quick comment on posting lots of articles from other sites-- it's great to share topical things you want to discuss, just keep it under control. if you post a bunch all at once, it is a bit overload and it is more likely people will be annoyed and ignore 'em all. better to post one, let people respond, then the next day you can post another. use your best judgement and just think about it in terms of some new fan of joe's who comes to the site and what would make them feel welcome to talk about joe and his music with y'all.

howdy folks-- one more tour date announced today-- april 9th in detroit! waiting for the onsale date info and will post as soon as it comes in.

also, starting this wednesday we'll be posting some really cool podcasts (video and audio) that i shot with joe last week at his home studio! there's 13 episodes and each one covers one song from the new album-- it includes joe playing a little bit, talking about the song, and then a ~45 second preview of the song, plus some other unreleased artwork from joe's sketchbook. new episodes will come out every mon/wed/fri until the album release date at which time they'll all be available and also incorporated into something very cool we'll be doing the end of that week. :}

glad y'all are digging the podcast action as much as we are! and yes, it is a sad thing that itunes/quicktime7 doesn't work on the super old windows machines :{ consider it some motivation to upgrade your 5-year old + computer! since the videos are specifically for the iPod&podcast they need to be in qt7 to look their best.

starting later tonight/tomorrow you'll be able to search for the podcast within itunes and apple will also be featuring it starting wednesday in their "new & notables" section.

also, here are some direct links i got that'll launch it in itunes in the meantime.

Video podcast

Audio podcast

don't forget-- new episode tomorrow and then the NAMM webcast + contest friday!

howdy everyone--- just posted a new video greeting from joe to y'all on the home page. also just sent out a new email newsletter for everyone who's signed up about everything that's going on... i also included a link to the webcast which doesn't officially launch until tomorrow. try to refrain from posting here-- i wanted it to be a special treat to folks who are on the list :}

Hrh Fish - email photos to webmaster@satriani.com and i'll get to them... eventually!

blue moon - the podcast video is strictly for the iPod so that's why it's quicktime7. you should be fine with it as long as you're computer isn't more than like 5 years old or so :} later on down the line i might convert 'em to another format for compatability (real/wm/flash) but that's low priority right now.
