Song O The Day:

Dyin' Man - Widespread Panic

so long... baby since you've been gone...
I'm a dyin' man... I'm a dyin' man...
don't ever tell a dyin' man...
you never meant to shoot him down
yeah, don't do no good to tell a dyin' man...
you never meant to shoot him down

Damn these self-inflicted wounds!

...a dyin' man may have indeed chosen to shoot himself down...

mama's gonna make all of your nightmares come true
mama's gonna put all of her fears into you
mama's gonna keep you right here under her wing
she won't let you fly, but she might let you sing
mama's gonna keep you cozy and warm...

Actually, Michelle, I beleive the correct Wolf-style typing is BIGBABOON.

BIGBABOON's chucking poo on me tonight...

Remember how pissed off GABI got over your BIGBABOON song? It was hilarious!
Ah, back in the olden days here at T2J... Wolf... Gabi... ahh...

Oh yah, I love motorsports. Basically, I'll watch anything with a motor that goes around a track. Winston Cup. CART, IRL, F1, superbike, rally, hell, even lawnmower racing (in extreme circumstances).

The Speed Channel is great! Along with Doscovery Wing and the history Channel.

Anyone else watch Mail Call on the History Channel with R. Lee Ermey? Great show!

iTunes is the music software that you get with a Mac. Sort of the Apple equivalent of WinAmp, except a hell of a lot better IMO.

Yesterday, iTunes 4 was released. Now with iTunes, you can browse through a sh!tload of music online and purchase individual songs to download- 99 cents a song. Awesome service, spent a bit of time yesterday looking at what they've got.

Yet another reason to go Mac!
Check out iTunes 4 here

Not to mention there's the iPod, the coolest MP3 player around... but I'm biased...

Somebody say something about a dream car?

We'll go with a 1967 Chevy Corvette hardtop, black paint/black interior with a 427 & 4-speed. Or, better yet, with a modern driveline swapped in. Z06 crate motor and six-speed, anyone?

*drool...*

Picks?

.96mm Ernie Ball Gator Grips
Sometimes the thicker ones (1.02mm maybe?) for acoustic

Thin picks are of the DEVIL.

obey your master... (master)
master of puppets, pulling your strings
twisting your mind, smashing your dreams
blinded by me, you can't see a thing
just call my name, I'll hear you scream

Argh... while Mind Storm is a great, rockin' song which I love to play at high volume, it doesn't compare in my book to Memories. It's like comparing a good action movie with, say, a good book. There's just a little something "more" in a book that connects with me, and the same goes for Mind Storm / Memories. Mind Storm makes me hyper and excited. Memories takes me on a journey.

the sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land
plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky
a man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers
but awakes to a morning with no reason for waking

he's haunted by the memory of a lost paradise
in his youth or a dream, he can't be precise
he's chained forever to a world that's departed
it's not enough, it's not enough

his blood is frozen and curdled with fright
his knees have trembled and given way in the night
his hand is weakened at the moment of truth
his step has faltered...

one road, one soul
time pass, river roll

he talks to the river of lost love and dedication
silent replies, swirl invitation
flow dark and troubled to an oily sea
a grave intimation of what is to be

there's an unceasing wind that blows through this night
there's dust in my eyes, blinds my sight
and a silence that speaks so much louder than words
of promises broken...

now there's a song that kills me every time.

MATRIX RELOADED

Decent movie. It wasn;t nearly as cerebral as the first, but I'm not sure how anyone could have matched the brain activity triggered by the concept of the original. As most have said, the first 30 minutes were fairly boring, and the rave was just plain dumb. Some of the effects could use some work- there were a few times during fights (most noticably when Neo was fighting the herd of Agent Smiths) when it was grossly obvious that it was all CG. When Neo picks up the pole, his face doesn't even look real anymore.

But for the last part with the Architect and the conclusion, it would have been just another action movie. But the scene with the Architect, along with Neo stopping the machines, did what I'd been waiting for the movie to do the whole time: it made me think again. Has anyone in the movie ever really been out of the Matrix? Is there a Matrix within a Matrix? just when i thought i'd gotten a handle on the reality of the setting, it gets juggled up again. I also liked the idea of "backdoors" within the Matrix.

In summary, the whole Zion scene could have been deleted without the movie losing anything. The actions scenes were overall good: Smiths vs. Neo was good, even considering the bad CG. The freeway chase scene was frickin' awesome. And the Merovingian's wife was HOT.

I give it a 7 on a 1-10 scale.

I'm liking the new logo, although the Oriental characters don't really do anything for me. But as long as they actually mean something and aren't random, I'll be OK with them.

Thank you for your service. What do you do in the Navy? I'm starting this fall in NROTC, shooting for aviation. Congrats on a safe return.

*sigh*

Three more days before I leave home to go train with the Navy for seven weeks. This thing has really snuck up on me- I keep thinking that in less than a week I'll be running, doing pushups, learning about ships construction... I think I'm excited, but I'm not sure. What will I do without satriani.com?!?!?!

I'm going to withhold judgment for now on this whole Rubina rumor thing... for all we know the person who first posted his condolences was misinformed. Perhaps he saw the article and took it as fact. I suppose there is a chance it was done intentionally and maliciously, and if that is the case, then I can only say that I am amazed that ANYONE could stoop so low.

But you who wrote the original post- you know why you did it. I hope it was a mistake.

In any case, I'm relieved to hear that is was nothing more than a rumor.
