Techty- I don't don't know if you have made a purchase yet but, my favorite acoustic guitars are Gibsons J-45 and Guild JF-30 and F-412 12 strings . A lot of people rave about Taylors and Martins but, I think they are over rated and over priced. If your shopping on a budget, Washburn is putting out some of the best playing and sounding low end acoustic guitars on the market today. For $209 the D10S is a great deal and it comes in Black! Check it out at www.musiciansfriend.com

LGU89- I have heard of Phill Keaggy, great guitarist! He plays mostly acoustic stuff but plays electric guitar equally as well.

Did you know he is missing the middle finger on his picking hand? Phil uses the missing finger to his advantage by toggling between his index and ring finger to create a tapping type of rhythm, very cool sounding technique.

My 2 cents about theory....

I find that most people who like to impress with talk of theory only play other peoples music and can't write an original piece to save their life. What they lack in creative ability they try to make up for in technical BS. Don't get me wrong, I believe theory has it's place(learn and forget it) but, all the theory in the world does not a musician make. I doubt Robert Johnson or Charlie Patton knew what a Ionian or a Aeolian was or even if it had something to do with the music they were playing.

So just shut up and play yer guitar!

I use what little knowledge I have of theory from time to time and it has been a helpful tool in my song writing. I'm sure I could further benefit from continuing to educate myself in music theory and I DO NOT belittle anyone who does.

If you misunderstood the "my 2 cents on theory" post, I will neither apologize or explain myself further, it simply wasn't meant for you.......

on the other hand if you didn't misunderstand and you were offended by the "my 2 cents on theory" post you are probably the type of person I was talking about in the first place.

Crispin- Ibanez has a whole new line of fixed bridge guitars w/ set necks(not bolt on)at $400 U.S. , some with arched tops and some AX series guitars that looks as though they are trying to compete with Gibson's SG, very sweet.

I played a couple of them last time I was at the music store but couldn't find any pics of them at the Ibanez website.

You should also try e-bay. My favorite guitar is the '62 reissue Gibson "SG" which you can find used for around $800 to $900 U.S., be aware, no two SG's play the same especially from year to year of model. In my opinion the '62 reissue and the '67 reissue custom are the only model of SG worth owning.

Another Fixed bridge guitar that I like is the Washburn "Idol" w/ the Buzzfieten set up.

Good luck on your quest.

I'm a guitarist not a bassist, I can play a bass, but I do not claim the instrument as I suck at it.

I have keyboards in my studio and people often ask me if I play the keys and I say, no, I suck at keyboards to which they say well what'n hell did you pay for a keyboard for if you don't play? and I say,(like a dumb@$$) I dunno?...

bought 2 new CD's today Audioslave and Seether, both albums are great and I highly recommend.

Tom morello is brilliant and never takes his foot off his Whammy pedal and Chris cornell's vocals are still (in my opinion) the best in the business.

to everyone who thinks this war is justified and not just a snotty nosed brat avenging his father by putting other peoples lives at risk to do so. I say to you, join the military and ask those in charge to put Y O U ! on the frontline and we'll see how happy you really are about a war.

To France, Russia and Germany, if you pussies would have joined forces to presure Saddam to disarm in the begining we may have been able to prevent this BS war!

As much as I disagree with how we got here, as an American I support our men and women in uniform, they're only doing what dumbass tells them to. I hope the new Iraqi government kicks G.W.B. out their country before he takes all their oil.

I wish safe travel for you and everyone traveling with you.

P.S. Along with the pics of you on stage, it would also be cool to see some pics of the sights that interest you as you tour the planet.-2 TON

Bukka White,Blind Willie Johnson,Memphis Minnie,Son House,Charlie Payton,Blind Lemon Jefferson the devils son in-law petey wheatstraw and so many others. This stuff is sooooo cool, I can't believe I didn't pursue this music earlier, I always knew it was there?

Slanshroom- I think your right about the simple minded stuff like Blink-182 and stuff like that but, there are still some bands out there who don't play many solo's like the Foo Fighters who are great at what they do.

T2Jer's- I have recently decided to sell some of my music gear that I haven't been using on ebay to buy some new stuff for my home studio. Since I don't have much experience with ebay I be looking for some feed back from someone who has.

BTW I have a JS-100(Trans red)w/ohsc in great condition I'll be selling for $375+shipping if anyone is interested?

jblaze1- Good to see yer post dude.

I just recently got a subscription to "Guitar World" mag and no sooner than I do, they drop Joe's column. What's up w/ that?

No bites on the JS-100 w/ OHSC for $375?

I'm going fishing in the morning. Last two trips I caught a 36" 22lb. and a 33" 16lb. Red Bass along w/ some Speckled Trout(N.E. Florida St. Johns River) I got a good feeling about our chases come day break :) going to get the boat ready now.

Wahoo, Catch'em up!

Serak the Preparer- I will be buying the new Zeppelin DVD and CD tomorrow.

Guitar World has a shot of Jimmy Page on the cover of this months issue with an interview and the whole story behind the new releases.

Also in this months issue of Guitar World there is an article about the Yardbirds. Seems as though Joe and Steve(Via) along with a host of other guitarist have lent a hand in recording some of the old Yardbirds tunes for a new album and one new tune written by Jeff Beck.

the fishing trip went well. 8-Yellow mouth Sea Trout, 3-Speckled Sea Trout and 1-Flounder

Okay...somebody is gonna have to stop me from going on and on about how good the new Zeppelin stuff is, cause man, there is no doubt in my opinion they were the best band in the world-period!

"Bring It On Home" , "The Ocean" , "Bron Yr Aur Stomp , "In My Time Of Dying" are a hand full of tunes that really stick out in my mind but, this is only the first time I've listened to it.

Still haven't listened to the CD yet...
