many thank to Ovation 1 and greg m.

Quantum- No favorite yet, still trying to take it all in.

michelle- As someone here has already mentioned, Circuit City had (I don't know if it's still on) a sale on the DVD/CD package for thirty bucks.

Because they were sold out of the CD when I bought my copy of the DVD(last one) I got a rain check for CD.

when they get the CD in stock again I Just gotta bring the reciept, the ad and six dollars and the CD is mine.

Do the Stu- Rock on bro.

New LED-ZEPPELIN DVD's and CD's are smoke'n hot. Stores around here can't keep'em in stock.

Those guys are making a pile of money off of this new stuff, and to think it's been so many years since they were a band is amazing.

I keep hearing rumors of a tour. Has anyone here heard of plans for a Zeppelin tour.

I heard on the radio that drum duties could be done by Jason Bonham or Dave Grohl.

Grohl said in an interview that if Led-Zeppelin did a tour that, that was one gig he'd have to get and I personally think Dave is the man for the job.

Nothing against Jason but Dave is at the top of his game at this point in his career and could inject a lot of energy into the mix of aging rockers.

OCPS470- "wing my feces chimpanzee style" I like it.

Joe,

We haven't heard from you in a while. I hope you are enjoying some well deserved time off to spend with your family and recharging your batteries.

Can you tell us anything about the new material your working on other than it's rhythm heavy?

p.s. what do you think of the new Zeppelin DVD? "In My Time Of Dying"(Blind Willie Johnson "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed") is my favorite tune so far.

michelle- My thoughts exactly about the Zeppelin DVD's. "In My Time Of Dying" is my favorite tune, the whole thing is so tremendously awesome.

When I first got into Led-Zeppelin I took the whole pile of KISS albums I had out to the road and sailed them like frisbee's down the street and smashed them on the road.

This action was not to say KISS sucked as much as it was a statement that I had found myself musically.

Hiram- I have a 2112, same as 2120 but with different artist presets. I love my unit.

Joe just sold his 2112 on ebay for $450.00 U.S. I wish I could get a hold of who ever bought it so I could get Joe's user presets.

The 2120/2112 is an awesome unit. I would check out ebay to see what they've been going for used to give yourself a good idea of what a fair price would be.

Don't forget the "Control One" pedal board. it's a must have, if your going to buy a 2112/2120.

We ain't seen no blue around these parts in a long, long time now. So..., just where did you go cotton eyed Joe?

michelle- Like you said, I know Flatt and Scruggs played the tune but I couldn't tell for sure if they wrote it. Now that I think about it, I guess I really didn't know the answer to my own question. silly me...

A little about me-

I just got layed off(Union Electrician) so I'm off on a book signing tour of the east coast. A "book" is an out of work list, every local has one and there are many locals all over the country.

I'll be leaving tomorrow for Boston and I'll be signing books on the way back to Jacksonville,Fl

Lots of driving ahead for this kid.

Just remember, don't put anything in your mouth if your not sure what it is. And what ever you do, don't pee on an electric fence.

Well, I made it back in one piece and NO tickets. No small feat, I tell you. Four days behind the wheel and I coundn't be happier to be home.

I drove my wifes Aurora to Boston and left her with my truck. Sweet ride those Aurora's. Too bad Oldsmobile is going under I would like to buy another Aurora.

michelle- thanx for the well wishes. I listened to "How The West Was Won", Robert Johnson "King Of The Delta Blues" and "Blind Lemon Jefferson Volume I" on my trip

I've been learning the live version of "Going To California" from the "How The West Was Won" CD and I must say there are a lot of differences in the way this tune is played from the original studio recording the BBC live recording and HtWWW recording.

I first learned "Going To California" in open-G but, I always knew something wasn't right. while looking through some Led-Zeppelin TAB books at the music store I noticed a transcritption of "Going To California" in double dropped-D.

As if the tuning and differing versions of live and studio wheren't enough. Just about every TAB on the web is oddly different from the next.

I guess I'll just have to learn them all.

OK lets see here... where do I start? Last Summer my wife and I saw Joe w/ Dream Theater and Kings-X and I believe that an evening w/ is a much better show. The thing with DT is that it was too much to take in at one time, plus it shortened Joe's set.

Now I have another disappointment, Yngwie Malmsteen is going to be on the G3 Tour. I will not sit through another hour of arpeggio runs up and down and up and down and up and throw the guitar around my back and up and down and now throw the guitar in the air and up and down. What a Joke!

As long as we are all practicing free speech around here I going to be honest with my opinion and say that I think Mr. Malmsteen is the WRONG guy for the job.

To all who say quit knocking Yngwie. I don't like his guitar playing and I don't have to like it and I don't need to keep my opinion to myself as that is what this forum is all about.(or I think it is anyway?)

Over all other guitarist, I think Eric was the best fit for G3. After EJ I would have to say 2.) Gary Hoey 3.) George Lynch and 4.) anybody but Yngwie Malmsteen

I don't know why more people don't mention Gary Hoey's name for G3? He has an impressive number of instrumental albums to his credit, one of which I think is one of the best of all time "Animal Instinct" and another great album by Gary is "Bug Alley"

If I had a choice of either watching grass grow or listen to Yngwie play guitar I'd be watching grass grow. I've seen Yngwie live and it was torture to my ears. He opened up for AC/DC and I was soooo happy when he finally got off the stage.

It's nothing personal towards Yngwie you understand, I just can not stand the way he plays the guitar. It makes me wanna cluck like a chicken and beat my head against the wall.

Eric Johnson is a close second to Joe when comes to my favorite Guitarist and I in no way intend to bring undo stress to the man.

About the G3 thing. I read an article in a Guitar mag, I can't remember which one, that said that Eric felt as though everybody was trying to be louder than the other(some kind of competitive thing)and that it distracted his playing. Now that's what the article said not me so don't hold me to it I already put my foot in my mouth once.

As for how Joe feels about Eric, he said in a online chat that he would love to work with Eric again.

I saw Eric in concert here in Jacksonville to a sad turn out of only about 350 people or so(Jacksonville is terrible about supporting talent of any kind) and he was awesome.

Eric kept his head down most of the time and didn't connect with crowd very well. I took it as a sign of shyness but, his playing was fantastic and I never heard a better live sound.

Derek Trucks opened and was very impressive as well.

Sorry again for the previous bogus comment about Mr. Johnson.

Joe, can you give us any hints as to what direction the new album is heading?

Some months back you mentioned something about the new stuff being rhythm heavy, could that be because of the fat bottom riffs coming from your new 7-string guitars?

I hope so, I really liked the riffs on "Mind Storm" and "Seven String"

Thanks for the Video clip it was good to see you and thanks for all the great music you have given us all the pleasure to enjoy.

Has anybody here joined GuitarAlliance.com?(online guitar lessons)

If so tell me what you think.

Most of it looks like it's geared towards beginners but there is a lot there for all levels of guitarist as well.

Joe- What type of microphones and microphone preamps do you use in the studio when recording guitar?

Do you do any distance micing a la Jimmy Page?

intergalatic- you are talking about an accident right?

Supaadave- "Clouds Race Aross The Sky" is a great song, my favorite from EOC.

I also agree with Matt King about "Banana Mango 2"

A personal favorite song of Joe's that I like is "Why"

I asked this question once already with no reply so I'll ask again, has anyone here joined Guitaralliance.com online guitar lessons?

Just back from Portland OR. and Kalama Wash.- my first time to the northwest, what a beautiful place. I hiked through Mt. St.Helens, the Columbia River Gorge and Maltnomah falls.

I even got to do a little Salmon fishing in the Columbia River. I only caught one fish but, it was enough to feed 10 people.

Looking forward to G3. I'll be going to the HOB Orlando show. I'm not a Yngwie fan but I can't miss a chance to see Joe and Steve.

Jake 49ers- here is my take on the talent thing. In POPular music the majority of the listeners don't even have fully developed mind yet. They are made up of mostly preteen and teenaged kids with a flavor for simple catchy tunes. Not to say all young people are simple minded but, this is what seems to be most willingly digested by the majority of the radio listeners.

Among Musicians and serious music lovers I have heard nothing but praise for Joe Satriani. Even those who don't subscribe to his style respect him. And I'm sure amongst musicians and those with a deep appreciation for music, Joe will go down in history as one of, if not the most gifted instrumentalist of all time.

Joe may not sell as many copys as some but, I'm sure he ain't doin bad by any stretch of the imagination. If you can make a living doing what you love you are loving life and I think Joe is doing just that.

StuF Dean, Line-6 makes a thing called a GuitarPort for $169.

Musician's Friend has a great deal going on a GuitarPort Pack. It includes a Line-6 GuitarPort, OPL MM5 electric guitar(a very decent inexpensive guitar), pack of Ernie Ball strings, guitar strap, picks and some cheesy looking headphones for $199.

Sounds like just the thing your looking for.check it out at musiciansfriend.com

Has anybody(in the states) been watching the Blues series on PBS?
