I'm back. Jblaze1- sorry it 's taken me so long to get back to you. I've been working 7 days a week up in Boston, but I'm back home here in Jacksonville,Fl where I have access to my PC and I would like to thank you for the copy of your Killer CD.I like the new site and look forward to the new CD.I heard Mind Storm on Rockline the other night and I must say that that tune kicked my A$$.The starry night thing didn't really kick it for me but maybe it will grow on me....Glad to be back home and my wife is glad to have me back as well,4 1/2 months away from home was rough but the good part about that is making up for lost time :)WAHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

JBLAZE1:Glad to hear you're enjoying living in Fla. I love it here myself, there's nowhere else I'd rather call home. I'll be working on a Ford motor plant shut down starting on the 29th of this month in Norfolk,Va(hopfully). The job should last for at lest 2 weeks and as always when I'm on the road I'll be working 7days a week 12 hours a day. After that I'll be home for a while, maybe. I brought my BR-8 ,JS-100 and Gibson Acuostic with me to Boston and came up with some good idea's,loneliness can bring out alot of emotion when song writing. I only wish I were as good at writing lyric's as I am at writing music I'd be somebody.I'd really like to meet a singer who is good at writing lyric's. That's all for now, glad to be back. MIND STORM ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I just picked up the new CD and I am amazed. I can't turn my stereo up loud enough. I love the acoustic and clean rhythm sounds, especially on "Chords of life", "The Traveler"and "What breaks a heart".The different tunings and effects coloring give so much depth, the dynamics of this album are incredible, very mature ." Mind Storm" is a Metal Anthem for the ages. For those of you who don't get this Album(Understand it) right away, don't worry it will come to you. NOTE TO JOE:could you please tell me what are the tunings you used during the recording of this album.Thank you in advance and thank you for this offering of "STRANGE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC". A fan and friend for life, Johnny

Hey Joe..I think the new Album is your best work yet. I like the alturnate tunings and the use of acoustic guitars. All the songs are so good I don't know where to start. " Chords of life", "What breaks a heart" and "The Travel" are great examples of you'r ability to keep coming up with new and fresh ideas, you never make the same album twice.

I bought my tickets today for the show here in Jacksonville. I only learned of the Jacksonville date a few days ago, It must have been added to the tour because I didn't notice it before. I almost bought tickets to the Orlando show at the House of Blues where I saw you the last two times you were on tour. Jacksonville is a hard market to sell tickets in so I understood why you passed up Jacksonville on your last few tours. Eric Johnson played here last year in front of only about 300 peolpe max, It was sad, but being the true professional that he is he still put on a great show. My wife and I look forward to seeing you on the 20th of August at the Florida Thearter.

jblaze 1: have you had enough of the sun yet. Once you've lived here for awhile you'll notice that you start hiding from it. I think I found why next amp. Mesa Dual Rectifier Road King. I'm going to sell off all my stuff in order to buy one. $ 2,499 for the head and $799 for the 4 X 12 cab.

Hey Joe Did you use the new Mesa Dual Rectifier ROAD KING when you were recording "Strange Beautiful Music"? The rhythm guitar on "Mind Storm" sure sounds like a ROAD KING. I'm sure you know alot more about amps than I do, but this new ROAD KING is the most incredible amp I have ever heard. After one minute my palms were begining to sweat, then I turned it up a little ,the walls were shaking almost as much as I was. After ten min. with this thing the hair was standing up on the back of my neck and my heart was pounding so hard I had to turn it off.I've played alot of high dollar amps like Bogner,Saldono,Rivera,Marshall Plexi as well as the other mesa dual and triple rect's and nothing even comes close to this thing.I can't get it out of my head, I mean I'm obsessed. This Road King is going to become a point of descention between my wife and I. The head alone cost $2500 and If I do manage to buy one without getting divorced over it she'll never get me away from it with her clothes on.

jblaze1: You should get yerself to a GC or Mars music and check one out for yourself, be warned, you may throw rocks at your old rig when you get home. I may sell my JS-100 w/ case....$400 and I pay for shipping

Michele: Do you remember a little over a year ago I mentioned a pit bull puppy I named Miss-hell? It just so happens that she is the pup my wife and I wound up keeping. My wife didn't care much for the name misshell so I renamed her Betty Boop and to my embarrasment my wife calls her "BOOPY". She has turned out to be the most beautiful dog I've ever owned,Black w/ a white chest and very athletic. I wonder if Joe has a dog?

Hey Joe, Welome home man. Glad to hear you had such a great time in europe. I hope all of you are just as pumped up as I am for the next part of your tour. I have never been disappointed at one of your shows, you are a class act and I thank you for being who you are,A SHRED MONSTER! I 'll bet when you were in high school all the kids would see you and say, hey man there's that guy that plays the guitar I wish I could play like that. most of us are still saying that, except for maybe little Stevie Vai( SHRED MONSTER).

jblaze1: How in tarnation did ya get yer ear impacted. Putting yer ear to the speaker with the stereo turned up full blast is not the best way to listen to Mind Storm ya know. You have to put a speaker to each side of your head so's the presure equals out, dat way ya don't gets these problems....lol. Man that has got to suck. Last time I saw Joe was on the EOC tour and I had one of the worst headaches of my life. I have sinus trouble and it just so happened that I came down with a sinus infection a couple of days before the show, so I went to the doctor to see what he could give me, he said, son!, son!, you've gone too far...and he gave me some Vicodin which only made matters worse because they dried my sinus's out. Imagine being on three 7.5 vikies and still having the worst headache ever and to top it all off the A.C. vent was blasting right on my head where we were sitting. Then the headache moved to my ears. Between the headache/earache and being druged out on Vicodin I was in some kinda bad shape but in true pit bull style I stuck it for the whole show then I went back to the hotel room and died. I hope your feeling better come show time, I don't know how serious an impacted ear is but it doesn't sound good at all. About the e-mail, I'll have to check it out but, I think I must have given you another bogus e-mail address. The right addy should be hmaclean@fdn.com.

Yeap, I screwed it up agian. Sorry about that jblaze. hmaclean@fdn.com is the correct addy.

Hello to Joe and everyone at T2J......

...I've been playing guitar for 20 years now with nothing to show for it so I've finally made up my mind to commit to recording an albums worth of original songs. I'm working on the demo now and hope to be in a studio by the end of the year. I have got alot to learn about programing drum machines and sequencing keyboards. I'm using a Boss BR-8 Digital recorder,an Alesis SR-16 drum machine and a Roland XP-10 multi synth. If anybody has any recording tips they would like to lend, they would be greatly appreciated. .........2 TON

hey Joe hope life is treating you and you'r family well... I have the latest issue of guitar world and it says you used a Mesa-Boogie on SBM. I thought I heard a Mesa in there. I would like to know what model the amp was? I recently checked out the the new ROAD KING and it is the best all around amp I've ever heard.

I've seen a few post here and there about SBM, but not as much as I thought there would be. In my humble opinion (like I have one) I think this is some of Joe's best work to date, if not his best work ever.

minus human: I here ya bro, but I think you misunderstood. Metallica is not my fav, Zeppelin is. Too bad about Layne Staley. Alice in Chains was my favorite band of recent times(90's). Are Metallica still a band?I haven't heard anything about them since Jason left.

Q:What do the Blue Man Group and Joe have in common?

A:they have shaved heads, they play instrumental's,they hold their mouth's in funny O-shaped positons while preforming.

Hello all, Does anyone here listen to anything other than Rock or Metal? I Don't listen to the radio much so I find myself checking out other kinds music like Taj Mahal,Robert Johnson,Andres Segovia,Celtic folk and some Classical.

jblaze1: I'm listening to you'r Electric Ecstasy CD and I hear what seems to be a little RUSH influence on "stormy night"

cabrao: there are certain things, a smell, a place, a sound that remind me of loved ones who have passed away and I'm very thankful when they come. I can see that one of those certain things for you and Gabriel is Joe. Turn them speakers up full blast, play it all night long!

jblaze1: now that you mention it, yeah I can hear some Jeff Beck in there as well.

stu hacking: you should check out Taj Mahal(Folk Blues), I love this guy. He is the ultimate story teller. I just discovered that Taj and Ry Cooder did an album together some years ago, I haven't heard anything from that album but I'm sure it's worth a listen. Have you heard of Michael Hedges?

Hey Joe, Only a couple of days until you hit the road again, I hope you are well rested for the U.S. tour. I love the new album, I think it's you'r best work yet. ......................A FRIEND AND FAN FOR LIFE.

Kell and ethn: Thanx for the info on Micheal Hedges.I only heard his music once, it was on the radio of all places, late at night on a Jazz station out of New York as I was traveling from Boston to my home in Jacksonville,Fl. As I remember the DJ did say someone had passed away but I wasn't sure if it was Michael he was speaking of. I look forward to discovering his music.

stu hacking:From what I have read all of Micheal Hedges albums are of exceptional merit, but if your looking for a place to start it seems as though Michael Hedges's "Aerial Boundaries" is the album to get.

Man what's goin on, the new set looks as though it has been shortened by almost 10 songs from the euro tour. If that's the case I'm very disappointed. A tour in support of a new album should not be shared with so many artists, too watered down. 15 songs for $45? I didn't think I was buying tickets to a G3 concert. I was looking forward to hearing "WHY" live, as well as more of the new stuff. Cut from the play list look to be Oriental melody, Belly Dancer, New last jam, Extremist, Why, Ice 9, Friends, Satch Boogie and Surfing w/ the alien!? That ain't even right. I don't care to hear Kings-X's anti-christ crap anyway. I see that Dream Theatre closes the show for the second half of the North American tour. This is not good, not good at all.

jblaze1: I hear ya, I'll enjoy the show regardless.

michele: no...

It's stu not boo:I never think I'm so right about anything that I can't be wrong. I heard of Kings X for years but never heard their stuff until a guy told me my song writing sounded like Kings X. So I gave it a listen, and right off I liked what I heard. After a few tunes I noticed quite a numder of references to god that didn't sound positive to me. Maybe I should listen again. I'm glad to hear Joe is going to do an Evening w/ Joe tour this fall, if indeed that is the case. (is that info somewhere on this website?)

SandMan 72:I know your post was meant for Joe but I would like to add my 2 cents here, I hope you don't mind. I've been playing for 20 years and I don't consider myself a speed demon. the answer here is practice time and lots of it but speed may not be your thing. I'd love to shred like Joe but it doesn't seem to be what I'm naturally good at, not that I can't practice until my hands fall off and make some headway in that direction. I use lots of alt tunings like open G, open D and C tunings. Along with these tunings I use slide, capo and a 3 finger(thumb, index and middle) picking technique used by Bluegrass players. "Going to California" by Led Zeppelin in open G is a good example of this picking technique. I try to build around my strengths and when it becomes necessary I practice scales til my hands fall off. I jam with guys who don't practice much and can scorch a fretboard all day long, but I have to practice 2 to 3 hours a day or more, for weeks to pull off one of Joe's tunes and if I don't practice forget it man, cause it ain't happening. Different strokes for different folks. I don't think my contributions as a guitar player are any less because I'm not a SHRED MONSTER, just different.
