JazzGuitar - First off, relax and enjoy your guitar and passion for it. Second, don't be scared to experiment, ever! It's experimentation that helps to unlock new grooves and ideas. Don't sweat trying to pull off something "right", cuz when it comes right down to it, everything is right to an extent. As with anything, you get in return what you put into something... practice every day! I always try to listen to various styles of music too, which will help broaden your playing as well.
What seems to work for me is rather odd, but it works... I just close my eyes and, for a lack of better words, GO. Less thought and more heart. Hope that made sense.
I agree with what Iambic was hitting on with grooving at a louder than normal volume... and along similar lines, what your playing though helps too.
Enough said. You're more than welcome to check out my instrumental guitar material inspired and influenced by none other than Satriani at http://www.mp3.com/rdg.

JazzGuitar - Anytime, and anything for a fellow player!
Ah, bumming that I didn't win an aftershow pass, but STOAKED BEYOND WORDS about the show this Friday at Humphrey's here in San Diego. You people have to understand that there isn't a bad seat in the place, and it's outdoors, right off the bay. Almost as beautiful as Joe's music! Ha!
Catch you all later...

OMG man, that is an old CD!! Scary looking ME with a big goat-tee, sitting in front of my computer??? Right?!?!
Where you from? Anyway, things have progressed a bit since that disc, to say the least. Can't believe you have that disc. Too funny!
My instrumental rock group RDG (inspired and influenced by the one and only MASTER of the art form - Joe Satriani) is currently playing all over San Diego and LA, and recently opened up for another instrumentalist, Gary Hoey, back in May. You can check out my site at MP3.com H E R E .

I hear ya... Currently working up my own ".com" site, so until then I'm stuck with the MP3.com site as a home for my music online. I don't think I follow you though... what do you mean by "the registration is poorly coded"? If you have any security issues, you "could" always pop in some bogus info in at the registration screen. ;-)
If you like, drop me a line on my home account at rdg@san.rr.com and I'll send you a copy of my latest CD for FREE. :-)

I'm counting the hours till the show tonight here in San Diego!!! Trying to "look" busy at work hoping the time flies by faster. Sounds like the show last night in AZ was incredible (as expected). Watched the DVD last night and listening to SBM right now. Man am I excited about tonight.
Just a note to let you know that your marketing team is doing a great job Joe!! Picked the latest issue of Guitar (or Guitar Player... not sure, got it home) and inside were a couple loose handbill flyers for the US Tour, not to mention several ads inside the issue itself (promos & gear). Pretty slick man!

Mighty Pattullo Head
Right on man... checked out the tunes and dug what I heard.
I also have my instrumental stuff up at MP3.com H E R E and am currently performing throughout Southern California to promote my music. Would love to hear what you (and anyone else for that matter) thinks.
Satriani is by far one of my biggest influences and one of the main reasons I'm doing what I'm doing.

Hey Joe...
Just a quick line to see who the tour is going so far. If it's anything close to your show here in San Diego at Humprey's, I'd say awesome! How are King's X and Dream Theater holding up?
Well, kick some ass and take some news man. You're the best!

Man that is f#cked! Come on all you Clearwater, FL Satriani fans... put your ears to ground and FIND THAT AXE! It's one thing to be a die hard fan, but when you steal one of Joe's guitars that's f#cked. It's something extremely personal, like kidnapping somebody's baby.
Joe - I hope this baby turns up.

Man, just a couple days off the board and there's whole lot a craziness going down! Damn I need to get catch up here.
Sounds like the show in Atlanta was a mess for the under 21 crowd. That's gotta suck. Sorry to hear that. And still no sign of Joe's stolen axe? Man! Each post makes me more and more pissed.
Anyway, as they say... smile, life's too short!
I'm still up for rock'n out LA at my show at the Whisky A Go-Go Sat. 9/14. Drop me a line at rdg@san.rr.com if you want FREE tickets.
It's instrumental guitar rock, inspired and influenced by the master himself, Joe Satriani.
THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION TO FOLLOW MY DREAM JOE! YOU'RE THE BEST!

Ok, time for my dumb Joe question... I've been meaning to ask this for a while, so here goes...
Joe - Shades... what brand of shades do you were on stage. I totally dig'm big time! I too wear sunglasses onstage, always have. Over the years it's become a kind of security blanket and a near requirement, partly due to the fact that my eyes are closed 1/2 the time I'm onstage playing. Without the shades, I kind of look like a blind epileptic when I'm playing. Now I know it sounds silly, but I was wondering if you wore yours for similar reasons or is it just the "cool" factor.
Optically curious,
Ray - RDG

Man... a couple days off the board and the pages keep adding up and up!! Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do.
It's back to school time, so been kinda busy. How's the road treating ya Joe? Gearing up for a big show myself this coming weekend in LA. We're playing at The Whisky A Go-Go Sat. 9/14, and to be honest with ya, I'm a little nervous about it. We have some A&R reps coming out to scout the set, so we've been hitting it pretty hard in rehearsals.
I only have a few tickets left to spare, but if anyone from the LA area would like to catch our show at The Whisky A Go-Go this coming Saturday (9/14), drop me a line at rdg@san.rr.com.
Catch you guys later.
