I'm noticing, unlike the old days, people aren't asking Joe alot of questions on here, but each other, like a dam chat room, too weird

yup, 30 years here
as for the guy that asked about sweeping exercises
take any 6 string pattern you like, and vibrato the first note, sweep to last string vibrato that string, do same coming back
then do same for every second note, then 3rd you get the idea slow at first, even tho you may not have it at some point. try it as fast as you can possibly go now and then, will probly not be clear, but amazing how it can help when you go back to the slower basics :)

well i can think of one exercise right off, for speed and accuracy.. learn a satch tune from beginning to end, exactly as he had in studio, that'll do it

the slower soul playing goes from the brain, thru the heart to the finger tips.. the faster shredding goes from the finger tips, back thru the heart to the brain. copyright to timerider

my style of playing is definitely a la satch and vai, i haven't seen a whole lot of malmsteen, but what i have seen is always a appegiated shred YES with the 22nd fret well used
is this what he does 24/7 or what?if so that can get real boring after 15 minutes

Ya Yo Gakk, well thanks for the prompt reply
hard to believe a guy with that kinda shred talent won't or can't show more flex, have more tricks if you will
for G3, all opinions on guitar ability aside, Van Halen would certainly draw some crowd, so i vote Van Halen or me :)

Joe once said, with great players playing with him on the G3, makes him play better, sounds obvious it would any1
sounds like a form of competition right there, cant help some competition in this situation, it's even healthy
however i dont believe you can put one above another at this highest of levels, all amazing at what they do
