Off to Santa Clara tomorrow for a week of training. 15 hours in Coach (Economy), OUCH! Trying for an upgrade, but it's a pretty full flight, either that or stay up all night drinking! :)

Was hoping I could catch Joe in CA whilst there, but he'll be in Florida. Oh well.

Picking up 2 JS1000 BKs whilst there, thanks Rich.

Only 5 signatures on the "Save Chickenfoot" petition? Come on guys, get behind it!

Have fun guys.

Roo

PS. Joe, Last post was Jul 23 - 3 months ago. How about a bit of Blue to light up our day?

STOOOOOOOOOO!

Good to see you man. How was the CD? Jeff, Galen, did you enjoy listening to it? :)

After the show, I mentioned I thought the solo was cut Stu.. I listened again later and it was. Bad luck that. Anyway, great to see you on T2J Stu, and yes we are actively enjoying your podcasts.

I'm in San Jose right now, first time I've been here. So at least I can tell people I "know the way to San Jose" now.

Railton, just don't give Rich too much details though, if it's easy to find, he'll buy it before he responds to you!

Seriously, Rich is a big collector. I think the price sounds reasonable, but depends on condition/etc. Some people try and sell them for a lot more.

Nice guitars the JS6, I don't have one.

Don't have that pedal board, but as long as you can clean up the signal through it (clean channel), then hook up the satchurator in front.

Actually, the free satch lesson is about pedals and effects and you can see his thoughts on this.

Generally it is WAH FIRST, then satchurator and then others.

But, you can (and satch does) put some effects before the satchurator at times, such as in Super Colossal where he uses the pipy organy thingy and then distorts it.

Thought I'd better clarify that.

I wasn't trying to state a rule. Just a simple explanation of how people generally find it works best. But try anything, it may be very cool, sometimes the best inventions are born from accidental events.

"oops, I plugged the wiggypedal in at the end..... Hey, that actually sounds pretty cool..... "

Joe Satrini: 2x JS1000BK? - Have a project I'm working on, I'll let you know how it works out... ;)

And I know there was a little duplication in shows on some bootlegs, if you can let me know which ones are duplicate (can you have a listen?) I can update it.

Otherwise it might take a while to get around to doing this.

If you do work it out, just add a comment to one of them on the site and I'll cross-reference them properly.

Thanks, Roo

Kilgelec: Joe draws them on a black shirt before every show. Just get a black shirt and draw one! :) LOL. Really, maybe you can take a cool hendrix shirt or something and offer to trade after the show? Sorry Joe.

The Satch Zone stuff is PERFECT for beginners, sign up now! Do it! go on! what are you waiting for? :)

Had a great day today, met some wonderful and interesting people here in San Francisco. Now I'm sitting in the departure lounge waiting for my flight home.

Pity I didn't come here a few weelks later to see Joe play at the Warfield (or will it be the Fillmore?).

Also had some people close to the action relay the same message. Joe and Hagar are STOKED about the stuff from Chickenfoot. I CANNOT WAIT! This is gonna blow some MINDS!

Saddest Song - my vote is for "Tears in Heaven" - Eric Clapton.

I have kids and you just cannot hold back tears if you really think about the song and what it means.

GUYS! ..... and chicks! ;)

BUY A SATCHURATOR PEDAL!

I got one last night and couldn't wait to try it out. I plugged it in and whacked the gain right up.

KERRAANNNNNNNGGGGGGG!!!! DEDOODIDIDIDIDIDIDIDI WAHHHHH, EAAAAAAAAAUUUUUWUWUUWUWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW CSHHHHHHHHHHH bbilblibliblibbliblibliblibliblibib.

nownownownownow nooooowww nowwwwwww, do do do do do do....

EXCELLENT!

I was going to just sit down for 1/2 an hour to test it, but somehow entered a vortex in time and space, got absorbed in the tone possibilities and the children were left to fend for themselves.

When I came to, a few hours had passed somehow and my youngest was tapping me on the arm wanting to have something to eat.

It must be some sort of mind-control device that sucks you into a different parallel universe full of tone and wonder.

or should I just have said, "wow - it is awesome"....

Well done Joe, cannot wait for your whammy and delay pedals, how about an effects unit that helps replicate your sounds from super colossal, etc? Build in all the whammy/delay/chorus/and other special effects into a unit and call it the Satchinabox!

Awesome pedal Joe. Keep up the legendary work!

Correction to previous post.

I guess "chicks" may not have been PC.

So please substitute one of the following:

Babes Babettes Chicky babes Girls Ladies Grandmothers Aunties Biker Babes Awesome Humans etc

As appropriate.

As for "Guys" you can all go jump if you don't like that term...

:)

Nahhh, only kidding. I am actually a nice guy, I just had a strong coffee and am still hyped about the Satchurator pedal so I tend to rave on a bit.

Too much coffee and a Satchurator pedal are not a good mix!

I hope everyone realised I am just being a bit hyper. I am actually very respectful of all people regardless of gender, race, religion, nationality, sexual preference....

But not people who like the Proclaimers! :)

Satchurator (VOX pedal) is a distortion pedal. Emulates an overdriven pre-amp. The Satchurator is Joe's pedal designed and released with/thru VOX. It is very low noise, high-tech pedal that gives an awesome and versatile range of distortion effects from slight to powerful, bluesy to JOE!

Has some cool effect capabilities and fine tuning such as the pad switch.

CrystalPlanet4: Do you have a memory problem? You keep posting the same thing..

SkippyGirl: YES! Music is like typing or language. When you speak you don't need to think about how to say what you want to say, and when you type, you don't need to think about how to type what you want to type. The problem is, figuring out what you WANT to say!

You can think you know a lot about it and how to make the sounds you need, but you might want a certain "feeling" at a point in you song, and you need to experiment to work out how to do it.

Sort of like GNAAHHHHHH!! or made up words. You know how it feels, but you have to try typing it different ways to work out how to convey that idea to someone else.

I guess singers do the same thing, they end up screaming something weird and it becomes a karaoke classic.

But as someone else pointed out when they were talking about a lesson they had with Joe, a memory of every position for F (including all harmonics, natural AND artificial) AND bends, AND whammy dives, and whammy dives with artificial harmonics, and then memorizing all other notes in the same way. AND.... and then if you get bored, you could always memorizing all that in alternate tunings. :)

But then you know how to replicate sounds and phrases. I feel that this is a key to coming up with your own stuff. By being able to instantly (just about) replicate the sounds as they appear in your mind or as they appear in your heart, you can express yourself directly and get out what you are trying to say without being frustrated with translation from your mind to the instrument.

Rant rant rave rave.

So Joe, have you had some time to unwind yet, see the family, relax, chill and re-energize? We'd love a little blue on the T2J to let us know how you feel about the tour and how you are enjoying Chickenfoot.

Thanks again for the Tour, you made many many people around the world VERY happy.

The Music collection is still collecting! It's amazing that I am almost buying something new every couple of days. I just dropped $170 or so on a box of singles and other bits the other week and got a box in the post 2 days ago. I check my post box every day (just about) and twice last week I had at least 3 package slips in there.

I actually don't even have many duplicate items.

I thought collecting for just one artist wouldn't be too hard.

I made a decision not to collect audio tapes and not to collect posters/etc (for now). And I'm still finding things.

Needless to say, it takes a while to find time to update the site. I'm taking a slow and steady approach, every few days I try to put aside time to enter a new item on the site. There's still a big backlog of items.

Got any cool items I don't have? Let me know, I'll probably be interested in buying them.

I figure that all these people who were lucky enough to collect or stumble upon rare items for Hendrix, and other artists, just did so because they had the chance at the time, I guess I've got chances to collect cool stuff so I make the most of it. Maybe I can donate the whole lot to the Satriani museum in the year 2056. By then we should have re-named the Earth as "Crystal Planet", the favourite drink will be "Ice 9" and everyone will be living in Harmony.

I don't want to get sucked into the MArts discussion, but I thought I'd mention the boy (I think he was 9 or so? This was 10 years ago), that could do hand-stand pushups.

Not too amazing I guess, just that this was only on each INDEX FINGER.

I have photos of it, it's pretty amazing, he's just inverted on two index fingers holding up his entire body.

People just cannot understand what they are actually capable of. Losing 100Kg in a weight-loss system and then winning a marathon is nothing. The power behind us all is there, a balance between yin and yang, energy, that flows through us all. People call it different things, but just because you cannot see it, or understand it, or even comprehend it's possible, doesn't mean it's not there.

In the immortal words of the boy on "the santa claus" talking to Neil. "Have you ever seen a million dollars?".. "No"... "Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist".

Now, about the legend of Chickenfoot. A lot of people are talking about this thing, but I'm afraid I cannot believe it until I get to see the concert and meet the band. :)
