I also just added the guitar player feb 88 (with power cosmic), the "In The Studio" CD (great interviews) and my Engines of creation UK and Europe Tour book to the web site.

Doodles - yes, but not getting far, I think the issue is I haven't found a good way to put them on the site and have people directly contribute yet. - not actively working on it right now.

Stuff missing from my site? yes! I still have a sizeable backlog to enter (stacks of CDs and DVDs), it's a slow process.

Also, heaps of older concerts to enter. venues, tours, info about songs, etc.

And then, when I start getting on top of that, I'm going to have to add clips from every song performance to download, and chickenfoot stuff, it will be coming out by then!

Guitars? Ahh, could be... could be.... maybe... wait and see...

OK, new mission!!

I have added a photo field to both artist and to instrument player. These are both proving problematic.

Firstly, I can't seem to find some images of artists such as Pat Mosca, etc at around 500x500 or thereabouts minimum size.

Secondly, For instrument players items I wanted a photo of each artist playing that instrument. And on many albums, Satch plays harmonica, keyboards, drums, bass, etc. So has anyone got or can get hold of photos like this? (ie Satch on Bass, Satch on keyboards?)...

If you check the site, you can see who has images and who hasn't and send any images you can to help out. Or send me the URL and I'll download myself.

Oh no, please by all means, this doodle collection is specifically meant to be a global gallery of ALL Joe's sketches. Add as many as you like, knock yourself out. Just use the "Create new Doodle" link on the site once you log in and upload the image.

OK, Photo album up and Doodle gallery up. At the moment the photo gallery is just my photos, there's heaps of them on the net anyway. But mine links photos to gigs and tours, kinda cool so you can see a photo, go to the gig and see all photos from that gig. Only put a few photos on so far - just keep making work for myself don't I? :)

Doodle gallery is for everyone though, please start posting doodles, I've only got a couple in there, it doesn't take long and it will help us collect all this stuff. Should I also link doodles to gigs? or should I add a date field? Let me know.

Cleaned up the layout a bit also, if anything annoys you on the site, let me know and I'll fiddle with it to make it better.

Still looking at a stack of DVDs and CDs to enter.....

Why do all these satch fans not want to rate songs, add comments about songs and particular performances or venues, and do all that other fun stuff?

What happened to "build it and they will come"?

With the comment link, I didn't test it if you aren't logged in, try logging in to the site then using the link. Or got to the song and use the Add new comment link on that page.

So at the moment I have the star ratings against the song and against the performance, but not the track. I thought it was superfluous to rate the track on the disk, because, for instance, the studio version of a track might appear on 5 cds and a couple of vinyls (album and single) so you can go to the track, then use the performance link to get to the performance and rate that.

I'll put a comment on the track page shortly explaining how to rate it.

And of course, if you want to rate a song, then you go to the song itself, that means if you love "if I could fly" as a song, rate it against the song, then if you love the studio version better than when he played it live on a certain bootleg, then you can rate those performances differently.

I'll have a look and see if I can put the song and performance ratings on the track page as well, so you can rate both from the track...

ibanez_god: Thanks man, much appreciated - building the church was on a G3 DVD. I've included some other tracks in the site because Joe is on the same cds/dvds.

I've also got the song and performance ratings onto the track pages, that makes things a lot easier.

OK, so now I've put the album ratings on the main collection lists as well, now it's really easy to run down the list rating every item, you can try it here.

Also, notice on the right? I've made a slideshow of all items in the collection (well most of the type so far). So as you are checking content out, something cool might pop up there, and you can click it to check it out.

gg2 - were you logged in? I think you can only post if you are logged in.

If you were logged in, that's curious, let me know and I'll have to look into it of course.

1) Log in to the Collection

2) Click on right menu: Create Content -> Doodle

3) under "New Upload:" click "Choose File" and find the image file, note: it must be a minimum of 500x500 pixels - to ensure high enough quality.

4) click "Upload"

5) give it a name, add some notes, and save it.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Did you get the backstage at The Warfield on that tour? I know joe would have kept his word.

I cannot believe no-one at all has a photo of Joe playing harmonica.

Maybe not keyboards, and other stuff, but come on, someone scan a photo for me for the site.

Anibur: Yes, looking at options to improve speed. It's mostly the crappy connection limit, don't know why cable here always has download heaps faster than upload... Weird.

OK, I disabled the slideshow to see if that improves load speed.

I have a feeling it will, it's a crappy bit of code that generates the slideshow before returning and giving the 100 or so items up front, then the javascript fades them in and out.

If that is the issue, I'll investigate an ajax version that only returns the first one, then asks for them one at a time or something, that would be way more efficient.

Let me know if performance is noticably better now.

OK, need some help. I have the Crystal Planet world premier CD, and it has some cool live tracks from a private concert in San Fran.

I cannot find any information on when it was. The info I have only says "recorded last week in front of about 60 fans"

I think it was an invitation or competition only event.

Can someone please give me a date? It was recorded at Coast Studios (San Fran) just prior to March 1998.

GG2: Thanks! I wouldn't say amazing, but it is taking a stupid amount of time. Literally (and I mean literaly) hours a day almost every day of the week (lot's of late nights).

I still have heaps to put in. I'm a little disappointed in reaction of the global community. Its a great resource to look things up, but it could be sooooo much better if more people helped fill in the missing gaps with gig venue locations that I cannot find, more of Joe's sketches, some harder to find photos (joe on drums or sitar)... etc....

I think my main motivation is to help spread the word for Joe. He is a great person who is an incredible composer with fantastic artistic and technical ability. He is shaping and influencing guitar today and well into the future. If I can spend some time to contribute like this, and it helps in some way to keep Joe in the public eye, or generate more sales for him, then I'm just glad to be able to help.

Like I said also, with the breadth of information I'm posting on the site, searches for beethoven, san francisco, the warfield, Greg Kihn, and heaps of other things will end up possibly directing people to this site. So more will know about Joe.
