OCPS470-Shoot, you teach at George's Music?I bought my old Jem DBK at the one by Universal Studios.I know a guy who worked the Dern Park one, I think he managed there.Shorter guy, really nice guy used to come in to Borders all the time when I worked there. He and I used to talk about Dream Theater and Jem guitars all the time.
Didnt realize you had been to some of the same places as me, lol.I actually applied at the Fern Park store I think.Kyle (Ashtar) Drove me there , actually.
Cube-I checked out the Talk to Joe clip of yours...That is bad ass, the whammy pedal stuff and the loop you are doing it over sound killer. You are worthy of the Ninja Moniker.
Boyd-Tumble sounded ok.I lovved the solo, it had some surprises. The main tune sounded unfinished, honestly.I like dog with Crown earring better.
They are both worthy of being on the album.Much more than Up in Flames, Just Look up, lifestyle, Souls of Distortion, or Hands in the Air, IMO.Instant track skip on those.

Webmaster-Ill try to email you the link that Austin is so kindly hosting.
OCPS470-Lol, dont let one guy ruin it for ya, I work in a music store, fuck the catalogues!
But yeah, Keith is the guy, I think.Nice guy, but wow he was short. He and I talked about jems a lot.hehe, Its just cool that you are from around there. One of the guys who works at the George's by Universal was always kind of a dick.Don't remember his name. There is always one guy to ruin it, right?

Austin-Generally, yeah.
Whoever was talking about versatile guitarists, the winners are Steve Morse, Carl Verheyen, Gatton, Brent Mason, Johnny Hilland, Eric Johnson.
Some of the best guitarists in the world are studio musicians, and we'll probably never hear a note of their own music.Sucks.
RON THAL RULES!!!!!THAL FO' G3!

My theory knowledge is pretty limited, but Ill try to give some pitch axis tips.
Pitch Axis is pretty simple if you play around with it, but it can sound awesome. Its all over the place from Prince to Pat Metheny.Try having a friend strum a 3 or 4 chord progression, but make sure they all share a root, like Amin Amin7b5 Amaj7 Amaj7#11.If you wanna solo over this you can TRY and play key center for some of it, but its probably gonna sound better to play a different scale for each chord, like A dorian or A Aeolian for the Amin, A Locrian for the m7b5, Ionian for the Maj7, and Lydian for the maj7#11.There are other options, of course, but try something like that. Its just that they revolve around a common note, "A" in this case.
Ive noticed that some people consider this a very disjointed type of chord progression, so you either love it or hate it.When done well, I much prefer this to conventional chord progressions. Not of this Earth, the end of With Jupiter in mind, Engines of Creation are all great Pitch axis examples.Have fun.
Not exactly pitch axis, but another cool thing is to have a 2 chord vamp, say Amaj7#11 and Bmaj7#11, and then try playing over that.I chose these chords because you would probably use Lydian for both, but it would alternate between B Lydian and A Lydian. It kinda helps you get used to soloing while changing keys, and could probably help train your ear for a particular sound, in this case Lydian.

Hey all.Havent posted lately, been hard to find a consistent internet source.
The band Graham and I are in had it's first gig, it went really well.Audience flipped out over us.Hopefully many more to come.I guess the band name is gonna be "The Janitors of Chaos" for now, but who knows.
Carl Verheyen is playing the 22nd here, if anyone is in the Seattle area you should check him out.Kinda like a bluesier less effects version of Eric Johnson. He will be at the Rainbow.
What does everyone think about the possiblity of Bumblefoot joining Guns 'N' Roses?I am happy for Ron to get the success and exposure, but I have always hated Guns.Whatever he decides I hope it works out for him.I guess Joe recommended him.RIGHT ON JOE!

JOE-I heard about the set list in Orlando-AWESOME!Hope you plan on hitting washington. :D
DCK-Cool man.I agree about the guitar and key docs.I a not a gear head, so I could care less about the tech head junk.I wished they would have shown them playing backstage N stuff.Would have been cool, but whatever.
that Making of Doc. was badass though.I wonder what they spent on the DVD, it looks sick.

Setlist-for the people who asked, from the road section, the Orlando show:(I edited out opinions and stuff.)
Up in the Sky", and "House Full of Bullets". Then "Cool #9", "Gnaah", "Time", "Lords of Karma", "If I Could Fly" and
"I like the Rain", "Hordes of Locusts", They opened the 2nd set with "Starry Night", "Morrocan Sunset", "Bamboo" and "Sailing"(NOTE:I think he meant Searching),"Strange" .FIABD, At the end, they came out for one long encore that included AWMAWY, "Satch Boogie", and SWTA, of course, with lots of improvisation. He snuck in part of "Eruption" from Van Halen at the end of SWTA.
I think he left out a few, but that looks like most of it.good setlist man, best Ive seen since the EOC tour. The only mods I would like are Time Machine and more EOC tunes.

For whomever asked about YNGWIE's picking technique. He uses alternate picking for single string lines, sweep picking for arpeggios, a combination of alternate picking and pull offs for most descending lines, and economy picking for ascending lines.
