Cube-Yeah, he is playing for us still. He is involved with a few other projects, as well as a funk-jazz thing with the drummer, so the Janitors gig is pretty low priority for them, but we still play occasionally.
Gig's coming up on monday.Anxiety, here I come.

Happy Birthday Joe.I'm right behind you (29Th)
It seems like all my favorite guitarists births are around this time(vai in june, Petrucci and Morse in July...me...HA!)
Eric Johnson is the man.I also like how he uses extended arpeggios, often not including the root.Has a nice disorienting effect.
I have to mention Shawn Lane if you like Eric Johnson's pentatonic styles.Amazing!
SPEAKING OF HYBRID PICKING...BRETT GARSED.He is the absolute KING of that approach.I've always used hybrid picking, but seeing/hearing Brett got me to re-evaluate my approach on things.

Phryg-Hehe, I'll mention it to John (the other guitarist, he handles the site.)Thanks for checking out the site. What did you think of the tunes?
Charlie and the Chocolate factory-man, this movie sucked. Why do they re-make movies that don't need it.Baffled.

962-Thanks for checking out the site.Ninja Gaiden for nes is one of my all time favs.NG for the XBOX just maybe the best game ever.It is definitely the HARDEST game ever.
The metal on the EDGE bridges SUCKS.I like the design though, so it's kind of a toss up.I'm about ready to try out some new guitars.
Cube, ever played a Vigier?Thoughts?

I kinda agree about Sheehan. but I am still a fan.
Sorry to go against ya OCPS...
Bill Dickens' playing, on the other hand, I strongly dislike.Graham got his DVD last summer, and we were both extremely unimpressed.
I remember Graham liking a one or two of his licks(Some of his 16th note grooves were pretty cool), but a lot of it is just hacky mudd.I wasn't at all interested in his soloing, or what he did with the extra strings.Graham is a harsher critic than I, but he is usually pretty fair.
I see no point in a 7,8, or 9 string, pretty much.(I DO like the Chapman stick, though)
Just an opinion though.I like Adam Nitti and Vic Wooten, both of whom Graham has criticized from time to time :D

OCPS-Maybe.The dvd was pretty thorough about what he was about though, so I dunno.
I liked that he had Brett Garsed on the DVD.That guy rules.
Matt King-Cool to see you are doing well man, stop by more often.
Regarding the Megadeth-Ellefson thing-You should see what he tried to do to Mustaine-Say what you want about DMustaine, but I think he is on the right side on this one.

Cube-That is so funny.Petrucci has spoke about them growing up together with Kevin Moore(original Keys) a zillion times in interviews.I guess he just had a slip of the tongue.
Funniest anecdote I read was that Myung practiced to Iron Maiden records on the higher setting when they were kids.He tuned up a 4th to match the record!

I actually posted this last night, but it didn't show up...weird
CUBE-That's pretty funny. Here is a sample from his official site:
John grew up on Long Island, Kings Park to be exact, where he, John Myung & Kevin Moore all attended school together. He started playing guitar at the age of 12 (After a brief fling at age 8 when he noticed ......
and later:
....when he attended Berklee College of music in Boston, where he learned jazz composition and harmony. While at Berklee John and John Myung who was also attending, met Mike Portnoy and started a band called Majesty which would later turn into Dream Theater.
(end qoutes)
I found a lot of sites that have it wrong too, like wikipedia.Weird.

Great to hear about the G3 DVD.Shame that Petrucci is only entitled to 2 songs, but I guess that's due to the length of his tunes.Still weird.
If you like Stuart Hamm's playing, check out Graham Shackelford www.myspace.com/thejanitorsofchaos
(he studied with Stu briefly)
:D any oppurtunity to whore out my band :D

Cube-Thanks for the interview, he sounds like a cool guy.The new stuff sounds pretty decent.
To be honest, I thought "vertigo" really sucked, but he has a lot of potential, and he is very versatile.
I slept all day.I can't believe it's 4am.

FENDER actually does have stipulations about people using their design. It has to be something like 15% different.
For instance, I just got a new pickguard for my strat copy, and it doesn't fit, because it's for a real strat.you can't really get parts for my guitar, so I had to basically get new holes drilled, and the old ones now show.
I could care less about PRS vs Gibson, although I hate Gibson even more than PRS.They both blow.

I'm pretty much with ya Cube.I'm just not into that design that PRS uses.I can't really play arch tops anyways, but it's just so...mundane.
I also find them extremely inconsistent.I've played maybe 30 PRS's and actually liked...2 of them, I think.
Gibsons do hold their value, so I'll give ya that. They still blow. :D

Yoda-I like the La Patrie stuff.Same company that makes Seagull, Art and Luthrie (Godin).
I think the main things to look for are 1.Solid Top 2.if you need a cut away and 3.Gloss.
For myself, I only like Gloss on the top if I'm using a pick, because I scratch tops without it.
If I play with my fingers, I prefer a non gloss finish, because the tone is a lot more full sounding.
The LaPatrie Etude is 260$ (At least it is at my store) I got a factory second for 100$.
I dislike Yamaha personally, but they aren't bad.Over priced, I think.I don't mind some of their cutaway stuff, because I use a pick on those when I have played them.
