Michelle....you are so right.....my girlfriend and I were playing grab-ass in the house and we ended up knocking a towel rack off the bathroom wall. Better to play that game outdoors people.....very dangerous...LOL !!!

I've never heard of Jimi Hendrix being referred to as a "god"......what is true, is that he was a major influence for millions of aspiring guitarists (including me).....He was technically unorthodox and high a lot of the time.....but he played from the heart...always.

Ovation....very well said in a nutshell......as a matter of factly, at the Monterrey Pop Festival in 1967.....two other very popular bands of the day were forced to flip a quarter to see who would go on "after" The Jimi Hendrix Experience because both bands knew JHE would be a very tough act to follow. And if anyone has seen the film, they know it was.

Brother Al....I read years ago in an Ozzy interview that Randy came in to try out for the band and was hired soley on his performance while he was tuning his guitar. I never heard it mentioned again but I remember that very well.

Ahhh.....lawn darts....a.k.a. "Jarts". I have a very fond memory of my brother throwing one (Jart) up in the air and watching it come down on my sister's head....her running & screaming around my grandmothers back yard with it sticking out of her head. Fortunately it only went in a quarter inch or so, so she was completely unharmed. An absolute true story....we still laugh at her.....ahemm..I mean laugh about it to this day.

Check out these guitars......made of 35,000 year old wood...cool !!

Delfino Pie....sorry to read that you are down. Whenever I feel like what I'm doing is a waste of time, I just think of a picture I saw once. It shows a duck or a swan with a bullfrog sticking halfway out of it's mouth. But the bulllfrog has the bird by the throat.....and at the top it says "Never give up"....lol......keep plugging away...it only gets better.

I had one of those door-to-door religious zealots come to our house one time, and he told me the same thing about "going to hell" blah blah blah...etc....I told him..."Good, maybe this will get me to hell quicker"...and I slammed the door in his face.

JS JS.....You're not alone dude.....I can't stand "Crap"....ooops...I mean "Rap Music". I'm still hoping it turns out to be just a passing fad, because watching those guys in their videos wearing $10,000 in jewlery and uttering pure garbage is an insult to every other musician in the universe. And it's not racist because guys like Eminem should be shot too. Otherwise...have a fine and dandy day everyone ;)

Quick edit: At least Kid Rock mixes a little Rock-n-Roll in with his music, otherwise he would suck too.

Mike....happy birthday Bro'...I hope you have a hundred more......go out and have a few drinks...let someone else drive. Make sure you post here tomorrow so we know you survived the night ;) Hell...us Irish folk can drink anyone under the table so maybe you'll be driving everyone else home..lol.

Ahh Jazzy Boy...its always nice to know that you'll be here to pick a fight. Fortunately, regardless of what anyone thinks about what I said, it's still "freedom of speech". That's why I love this place so much......Peace Bro' !

Brother Al......pre-birthday wishes to you ! Have a great B-Day !

Austin.....yeah I have to admit that Kid Rock does kind of grow on you. I remember a few times being out with friends having a beer and hearing really good tunes on the juke. It turned out to be him...so I guess he really does have something if he's able to impress me...lol. He's quite diverse...he does rock, rap AND country.

I'm also quite impressed that you're an avid Aerosmith fan...I grew up listening to those guys...hell...I was at a couple of AA meetings (supporting my mom) and Steve Tyler was there. At that time (15 years ago) he owned a house in the town I grew up in....he's a nice guy. Anyhow, I had about a dozen Aerosmith shows under my belt by the time I was 17. They're my "homies"...I love em' What is your opinion of their new blues album? I like it...but it's not he best album they ever cut. Peace, D@ve

Howdy y'all........I went and met up with some guys last night to try and form a band. I thought it was going to turn out good until the bass player showed up. This guy was so strung out on "Meth" that he could hardly stand still.....I could barely understand a word he was saying he was talking so fast. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I don't mind if a person has a few beers or a "puff" now and again, but that "crank" just rots your soul, not to mention your teeth because this guy had only a few left. He was a decent bassist too...what a jackass.

civgeek....yeah I hear ya......this guy would need a steady stream of Valium into his system just to bring him down to normal. It's a shame because when you keep "tweaking" like that, eventually you become equally wound up when you are stone sober. It's called "permanent brain damage"....but I guess those junkie dumb-asses can't read.

Hello Satchland...happy Sunday to ya !

I played at a benefit last night for a guy who has cancer and maybe 6 weeks to enjoy life. He was too sick to be there but his family attended for him.....Anyhow, the motorcycle club (he is a member of) raised about $6000 in one evening. I thought that was pretty good.....I was told it was going to help him considerably. One of the guys from the MC came up to me at the end of the night and handed me $50 for playing but I gave it back because I thought it kind of defeated the purpose of having a benefit.....it is for me, always a pleasure just to plug in and perform. And I think good karma came back to me for that because another "biker" gave me an old acoustic guitar that had been sitting in his closet for 20 years....it's a little rough around the edges but with a little TLC it'll be good as new :) So I went home glad to have helped and with one extra guit-fiddle in the trunk. Peace all.....enjoy the day !!

Zenfish.....I think I remember this topic coming up before, except it was talk of Kirk Hammet doing a G3.

I don't think EVH has any solo work to his credit...if I'm wrong someone please correct me....I'm sure if he decided to do a G3 he would have to come up with something new or he could perform some old VH tunes that he wrote or co-wrote. But I'm guessing someone would have (legal) issues with that. Just like Kirk Hammet, I think EVH would need to have some solo CD's circulating if he were to get the full benefits of a G3 tour. My two cents for the month ;)

Hey Joe.....I think IceZer had a decent question even though it's not music related.....where DO you get those funky hats you are wearing? Are they hand-made by a friend, or is there someplace we can all go to have a look-see? And of course the biggest question....Do you wear them for the most part to keep your melon toasty warm? ;)

OCPS470....thanks for the info....up until now I had never heard of EVH doing anything outside of Van Halen. I might have to look that one up.

Jazzy Boy......you caught my attention with this 9/11 flick...I think I need to go and see it.

Question of the day........what really IS the proper way to install strings on a guitar? I've seen so many variations that I wonder if the correct way has been lost over the centuries...lol. OK...so the electric guitar has only been around for about 60+ years...so we'll go with that.

Hey Satchland.......I found out yesterday afternoon that I'm going to be a Daddy again !!! Boo-yaa !!!! My girlfriend is kind of freaked but it helped her to remember that I have previous experience (a 9 yr old son & a 7 yr old daughter).....so when those "green-bean & mustard diapers" start appearing I'll be there to take care of it ;)

Have a fun and safe holiday peeps....all USA T2J'rs must post immediately following the 4th so we know you survived the weekend.

Michelle.....I gave the acoustic guitar to my daughter because she was persistantly asking for one. Its a less-than-perfect Sears type, but she put girlie stickers all over it like...."I make boys cry"....and...."Goddess"....a couple of Spongebob's.....flowers & stars..etc....lol ! It looks better now :)
