Without a doubt I think the best G3 ever (if it was even remotely possible)...

would be: Joe, Eddie, & Steve

End of story!!!

Joe... Please tell us... is this possible? you guys would really burn up a stage together!! probably cause a riot afterwards too!!! I think that would be most amazingly cool!!!

Trutina! Thanks

I will keep trying... I've been actually working on an old tune by the band "Queensryche" called Silent Lucidty... I have most of it completed except for 12 String Acoustic Rhythm work, a Lead Solo where the vocals originally went, the Drums, & and a Synthesized Orchestra as well!

I have a lot of work to do on it yet, but all is good so far... I won't put it up on IUMA until it's completed though, so please be patient! I just lack alot of time now to mess around with it... When I do have time all I end up doing is mess around with tones to get it the way I want, and then unfortunately it's time to shut it all down seeing as I have to go to bed pretty early to get up for 5:30am...

Austin,

Yeah that was a good book until my back stabbing guitar teacher conviently misplaced it seeing as he was a bigger fan of Joe's at one point in time...

I then caught him having it at a later time when I visited him much later on after he moved out of town from me... needless to say, and after a "Best Man" issue, we don't talk to each other anymore... It's a shame but that's the way things go! If he can appologize to me like a man, all is forgiven but he won't and I don't ever expect it will happen...

On a Sad Note:

Sad Day for the families of the Space Shuttle Columbia Crew and for the Americans too... It just goes to show unfortunately that nothing is without it's flaws! And 42 years of re-entries is a good long run... It's all part of the research to make space travel safe, I imagine they'll be taking a long look at the dangers that the booster rockets cause after separation... some people question the stablity of the Space Shuttle Program... The Shuttle Columbia was 22 years old and was considered for retirement in 2001, that's enough for anyone to say that it should never have been used in that particular flight despite a $90 million overhaul.. It's just so sad...

DeathCube! Thanks man,

It's amazing what you can do when you're not quite yourself!! Not that I'm going to go out of my way to do that too often...

I got home from work that day beat tired, and decided to have a Bacardi & Coke, but I was so damn thirsty that I chugged it too quick... Needless to say it went straight to my head, I couldn't walk for the life of me, but since I was stuck at the computer I turned the amp on, pressed the record button hooked my computer up to the Midi Keyboard and pretty much jammed to a drum track! I played something basic in the key of G and when it was the time to record the lead I just started messing around! it turned out not too shabby!

Hey Death Cube!! Congrats on the Night Fly! which one though?? Nightfly M? or Nightfly SA?

Yes they are fantastic guitars! Does this version have the Fishman Piezo Bridge? Apparently their acoustic tones are amazing! and you can mix it with electric tones as well!! Another fine guitar to take a look at is the Godin! Purely Canadian!!

Hey Gang!!

I'm trying to figure out a way to add some sort of an Acoustic Pickup to my current Electric & wire it directly into what I already have wired into it but I want it to have separate volume which means I might have to drill for one "POT" which is not a serious problem for me, I assembled this one from prefabricated parts Shown Here: Here's My Guitar

So if any of you know of a pickup that exists and doesn't need a preamp and can be hidden without much alteration... please let me know where I can find something like that...

Thanks for your time...

Peace....Barrie

Yeah Michelle... it was probably a good idea that the questions were picked ahead of time, but at least Joe was nice enough to hang around after the initial chat and answer a few other questions that he would probably not normally answer... I asked him what his favourite "Country Guitar Player" was and he said "It was Danny Gatton"

For me it was probably Albert Lee... he's been around for a long time, used to play rock and then got into Country & Bluegrass... I admire any guitar player that's willing to study diverse styles, one it makes them a better player, two they're more respected as a musician as well...

I think it was a valid question because not too many people that listens to his style would think Joe even listened to Country... But hey! there you have it... all you Tele players out there should check Danny Gatton out...

And then I asked Joe what the "Greatest Blues Player of all Time" was and Joe said it was "Albert King?"

I said yeah sure... I agree, probably any of the Kings would be really good... He then continued by saying that it's really difficult to name just one and say that he or she is the best...

Personally B.B. King gets it for me but it would be different for everyone else...

I wish I had more time to ask more questions but it turned into a caotic frenzy pretty much after that... and then Joe left soon after...

Thanks anyway Joe, for hanging with us crazed fans for awhile... it means alot! and thanks for answering some questions of my own...

Peace....Brother!

Matt King!! I agree with you on the guitar thingy about using signature models...

If your sound is similar to the artist in question you're more or less catagorized in the "Cover Band" section and regardless of it being original tunes of your own to a few covers, those record producers out there automatically know if they can market your music...

If you ever want to hit it big, find a sound that's you... whether it's complex or not, focus on a style that's never been developed yet... In this day & age of guitar rock, your sound is either clean or heavy... Maybe develop a style that is in between all that, or combine Clean with Heavy...

Matt....You also metioned on your forum that you got an endorsement through Brian Moore Guitars... I think you should go for it... they have alot of amazing instruments... Especially the ones with the Piezo Bridges...

Unfortunately electric guitar players don't develop their acoustic guitar techniques & skills as much... Just think if you used one guitar with all the toys built in... without changing instruments you can develop styles that can quite possibly make you a diverse player & that my friend I think makes the record companies notice you more if you use everything to your disposal...

Here's a word of encouragement Matt, your band is great and everything but I truely think I can see you as a critically acclaimed session musician that all the big name acts can rely on to create real good music 10 years from now... that's my opinion anyway...

Hey 10 years from now, I personally would like to see myself have my own small custom guitar making factory! that's my dream mostly... Guitar playing for me is just fun to do & I enjoy every minute of it... but to do it for a living? that's hard to imagine right now...

Hey Joe... I was hoping you could answer another question for me!?!?

I have this problem, when I play the guitar for long periods of time, and sometimes even short periods of time... My left arm(chording hand) keeps falling asleep! some might say that the guitar might be way too heavy but my guitar is probably only about 10 pounds tops...

Have you ever had this ocurance at all in your career and it seems that you can't play another note? well, at least until you get the circulation back... I've tried everything... moved the guitar onto a different part of my shoulder, I've tried different guitar straps... I even tried tucking a towel underneath the guitar strap... I'm at a loss....HELP ME... please... :(

Yeah Clarky!

It's funny you should mention the Low Blood Pressure thing... blood is the key to this issue I'm sure...

11 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare form of Hipoglycemia(spelling!?)... at times I would have real low blood sugar to the point that I'd Black Out... my heart would actually stop for a split second, enough for me to lose consiousness and then at other times it's as if I had so much energy that I could hardly control myself & my actions... like a diabetic shock (almost drukin state)... my family doctor accused me of being on drugs, drinking too much alcohol (that's silly because I can barely handle one beer).

For the record I've never smoked up, shot up, sniffed, swallowed, and I've been drunk maybe enough to hold 4 fingers up to count the times...

I knew I hadn't done anything wrong but unfortunately the doctor and I don't get along anymore, and I decided to find another doctor but never got around to it and again; unfortunately there are no doctors in my city taking patients anymore, and I haven't been to one for 6 years now... This thing has been a real kicker to me over the years... But I haven't had any serious problems for many years now...

Yeah I guess it's time to go, my girlfriend luckily has a doctor and gets along with him really good, so she's going to try to get me in with him as soon as her next appointment comes along... I'm crossing my fingers!

Diabetes runs all in the family as well, an extreme case of it actually, the whole family has it... Mother, Father, Grandmothers had it etc... it's only inevitable that I should get it too... I've never been one to go gung ho on the sweets but sometimes a little is all it can take and there you have it, you're taking shots of insulin for the rest of your life...

NARFACE...

I know how you feel man... the only thing about Ibanez is that you imediately think that it's a SATCH or VAI instrument, at least that's how I felt about Ibanez anyway... and then with Fender Strat that's a Gilmour, Clapton, Hendrix, Malmsteen, Vaughn instrument... with Gibson Les Pauls, that's a Page, Slash, Wylde, instrument...

I felt that in order for me to feel "myself" on a guitar, it had to be something that I put together myself! "Here's My Guitar"

It looks professional, and I had a hand in building it... I think truely if you really want to understand the instrument more then; take the time, be patient, and build one yourself! whether it's from scratch or from prefabricated parts, I say TRY IT!!!

these are the guys that helped me out http://www.warmoth.com

Hope this helps some of you understand the big picture out there... there's alot of fine instruments out there I must admit, but I say there's nothing more "gratifying" than to put your heart into something you made and are able to play a song on it for the 1st time... when I put this guitar together & played it for the 1st time, it brought tears to my eyes...

Hey Matt...

I know what you mean when you say that your style of playing is not complicated, I personally think it's straight forward & to the point... The chording in alot of your tunes are the most difficult part of your song... The soloing comes easy after the Rhythmic message has been laid out, all it needs is a voice, and there you have it... David Gilmour once said that before he came up with some type of lead is that he'd listen to the Rhythm before adding any lead, and then he started singing melodies out loud and figured out where he could go with some of his lead guitar work...

I personally love those spacey chords as well, have you thought of what alternate tunings might do to enhance your chording arrangements? and no.... I don't mean Drop-D, take for example some of Jimmy Page's alternate tunings... pick-up a Led Zepplin tab book and flip through some of his more difficult tunes... in alot of cases his songs with alternate tunings are masterpieces... thanks Rich... bad spelling error..

ok gang...

you'll laugh and you'll point fingers behind my back, but I'm prepared for the redicule...

I whipped up a couple of covers, hope you'll give them a chance... & no, they are not another attempt at a Satriani cover (never sounded like Joe anyway)... these are Covers of Led Zep's most popular tune, and Queensryche's most popular tune...

They are incomplete, but maybe some regulars off of this site can give me a hand to finish them?? you are free to give them a wack if you so desire!?!?! Matt King? Pete Mulas? Richard Haier?

Bachman is pretty good too gang... can't sing worth a shit but any can any guitarist really? actually he's lost about 100 pounds as well too... I guess you guys have never had the oportunity in listening to Randy Bachman's Jazz style tunes? mind scrambling... and to even attempt to sing when he's doing all those Jazz chords & solos... you've got to hand it to him...

another great Canadian Guitarist is:

Rik Emmett, there's singer with his instrument...

Formerly of Triumph(some bad blood there unfortunately) Rik has a great smooth Jazz Cd that I am the proud owner of an autographed copy (entitled, Handiwork) listen to it if you get the chance...

Peace....Barrie

This is for 2 Tonne Tessie!!

Warmoth I think is the best "kit guitar" maker out there... so many styles of bodies to choose from, so many neck configurations as well... with about a $1000.00 american you can build an Axe that is tailored to your style of music or is versatile in many styles...

Personally I spent $2400.00 canadian dollars, it would cost you alot less than that to build what I built...

Checkout their "Thrift Shop" for existing parts that you might want to get your hands on... or give you ideas on what type of guitar you're after...

hey gang.... about Fruity Loops... It's a real cool program...it might seem difficult at the start, but once you start figuring out "what" does "what", it's actually really easy to use... and you can edit any drum beat real time while playing...

download it gang, and dig into it...
