Artanis I!!! Benny my man... how's it going?!?!?!?

yeah the "Weapons Of Mass Distortion" thing... it seems to fit, especially for a bunch of shredders...

maybe in bad taste?

or...

leaves a bad taste in your mouth?

here's another...

Weapons Of Mass Distortion - Make Music!! Not War!!

Bush I think is searching for a fight more than anything now... he's already spent so much money on just sending his "Forces" over there that he wants something to happen so all that money didn't go to waste...

Opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect Joe, his fans and www.satriani.com!

JS Clone 1!

Joe "does it" by having "extreme" patience... I'm sure when Joe is working out ideas it might not be perfect (to him anyway) but that doesn't stop him from attaining his goal...

I think what happens to you is that you sometimes are too critical to the task at hand at too early a development as a guitar player... learn to relax at what you are doing and let the good vibes flow... a more relaxed approach can make a recording work much better... if you're excited it might cause you to make more mistakes than normal... & you get down on yourself because of it... don't think of deadlines, or what the people around you think... just play and be free with it... The creative process goes at a different pace for everyone...

Take a look at Tom Scholz of Boston, amazing guitar player but the life that guy has had through his music is enough for anyone to pack it in... so many delays, freak accidents, legal issues, band members quiting, ruined recordings...

but patience prevailed...

Boston just came out with their official 5th album and the 1st one came out back in 1976 so there you have it, it's not how fast you create... music creation is ageless... Patience...

I've been playing guitar for 13 years now (there's that number again, sorry Joe... it's my fault) & I still FUBAR things, but I don't let it bother me... I play for the sheer enjoyment of it... I know darn well I'm not going anywhere special with it... maybe 10 years ago I wanted to but regardless if I'm a better player now, I have fun jamming, recording, and just simply making some noise with it...

Great new guitar Joe... love that paint job... reminds me of a Hot Rod or something! You should get Jon Luini to post some of those photos as well... it's only fair...

We think that Planet Us thing is an amazing concept...

Chris! I checked out your friend's website... excellent guitar making skills and a very original design to say the least... only one but!!!!

As attractive as they are I'd be worried about the horns... even the slightest bang into something could cause it to crack, split or even snap off...

I happen to be a woodworker/cabinetmaker by trade for the last 8 years & especially in climatic conditions regardless if a finish has been applied, dryness and even too much humidity could cause these areas to break in time... wood unfortunately is not without it's flaws even after it's been machined, carved and tested by the most gifted luthiers!

I'm a woodworker and I love the tone a guitar has with good quality wood... I built 1 completely from scratch & I miss it very much... the body was damaged badly from years of constant playing split along the control cavities but I managed to save the neck and one day I'll build a new body to replace it....A solid piece of 300 year old mahogany for the guitar neck... the tone put any Les Paul to shame and it's really thick like a classical neck, amazing bass tones and the guitar had two Seymour Duncan Alnico 2s in there beautiful tones, it was a sad day when I took it apart......

Being a woodworker, I'd almost feel like commiting a crime but... I've heard that lightweight metals such as Aluminum & Magnesium have been used to make electricguitars, and very successfully as well & in both cases these guitars didn't even need an expanding truss rod... imagine a rodless guitar neck...

I know! tone you're thinking (where is it??) all it truely takes is the correct type of pickups to be wired in, the amount of coil windings and coil tapping is all really what it takes... or if you're imaginative you can create a sound all your own with a guitar made of metal, I'd love to try if I had the means... just for comparitive reasons strictly....

All Done....

Later.... Barrie

Mr. Nick! yeah I copied the Planet Us thing through a program I use to capture all sounds coming through my soundcard, the sound quality is ok for radio stream, better than I thought it was going to turn out... this program is great for recording your own music as well, I use it to record some final mixes for my own tunes... it's all in the setup of the program of what you can do with it...

Anyone who wants the Planet Us thing let me know... you to joe...

it's called Total Recorder http://www.highcriteria.com

Brymstone!!!

Yeah I use Cool Edit Pro 2 as well...

But I don't use the Line In, I actually use the Mic In slot! I find it's at better quality than the Line In can perform... you need to get a couple of earphone adaptors though to make it work... take a regular guitar cable & attach (The Big to Small Earphone) adaptor attachment and place it on the end of your guitar cable then plug into your POD or Effects unit & then plug your guitar in! You might have to shut your "Microphone Booster" through your soundcard options to play at a controlled level! then adjust your effects unit's volume & Mic volume through your soundcard settings too... experimentation is the best way to get a good sound with your PC!

Chris Peters!!

hahaha! watch out for that real Mexican Tequila man... oooh I could taste those Priarie Fires already...

Priarie Fire = One Shot of Tequila with a couple of dabs of Tabasco sauce... good way to light a fire under your ass let me tell you.... ouch!!!

Happy Birthday man!

Boozin it up ain't what it's all cracked up to be... but what is cool is being a Liquor or Beer enthusiast... always try something different but never over do it... that's the way I've leaned towards anyway... I never drank much through my 20s.... been wasted maybe 3 times in my life and only once where I puked my guts out... Miller High Life "King Cans" are not the best choice either, especially when you downed 4 of them in an hour just like silly me...

drinking Bacardi & Coke at the moment... only one though... I never over do it... can't afford to, he he...

I forgot to mention about your songs...

I like your style man...

It's fresh that's for sure...

You aren't exactly trying to sound like Joe at all, there's definetly some influence somewhere there...

But it's completely different to all that.....

you are "Keeping It Real" to yourself... No Nonsense Rock... that's what I call it anyway....

CLARKY!!! Hope that hand heals soon man! JEEZ it seems everyone had their glitches with this CD... When I wanted to work on my tune... I lost all of my hearing in my left ear for nearly a week and a half until I decided to go to a walk in clinic to get it drained... and when I wanted to record I decided to just edit something I had already worked on anyway... now that there's been a 3 week extension on the project I kinda wish I did something new... fresh ideas have been roaming around in my head (real good stuff too) & if I don't get them down and recorded I'll forget them for sure...

No Time Like The Present!!

Later All!

Chris Peters...

Don't Give up on Alcohol yet man... he he

if you really want something that tastes bad try a "Priarie Fire Shooter" in fact make sure you have 2 so you have your mind made up that it's the worst tasting drink...

Priarie Fire Shooter = Tequila + Tabasco Sauce...

If you want something sweet ask for a Blue Lagoon! or just drink from a bottle, a drink called "Loaded Soda" tastes like Pop but with alot of kick... a six pack will do ya.. he he

Hey Rich! I think it's best that you quit that Co-op anyway...

if something was causing you harm, the teachers should know better than to let you continue with it because it could cause perminate harm in the long run...

or it could now effect you always, you don't know until you lay off that particular activity... I had a similar situation about 5 years ago where I work, the pain in my wrists was so bad that I could barely push anything through the table saw, I even had a hard time writing my own name & signature when signing stuff or writing cheques... it still comes and goes... when your hands aren't right ,just leave the guitar alone for a while... your talent won't suddenly disappear if you stop for a brief while, while you let your hand heal...

MATT KING!!!

I Agree With you!! he's an idiot...

If ladies aren't affraid of that dick... why should anyone else... maybe he should learn some tact & keep his mouth shut and let the guitar do the talking...

He's a fast player.... true... but does it really sound good??? and what a lousy way of using a Strat!?!? that earpearcing tone just doesn't suit a Fender... waste of a $1500.00 instrument if you ask me...

Ya Yo... you're crackin' me up....

On a more serious note...

Everytime this Malmsteen stuff gets "brought up" it gets way out of hand... that guy lives for that kinda stuff too...Love him or hate him, that's exactly what he wants... true he might be an amazing guitar player fast and all that great stuff but all I'm saying is that his material is lacking in emotion, no feel to his playing, it's not his style, the so called "Neo-Classical" stuff isn't about emotion obviously... if you guys put your mind to it, anyone can play like Yngwie J. Malmsteen... Blister any solo out... but I think it's far more difficult to play like Satch, Van Halen, David Gilmour & Vai, let's throw Neal Schon in there too... all great "melodic" players... I truely beleive it's far more difficult to let a note sing out with sustain & add some natural string vibrato to it... timing is the key to this type of playing... and then again it's not exactly how much classical training or Theory you've learnt either... it's about how much "soul" is in your playing... at least it's that way for me... I've studied all the theory I'm ever going to learn 22 years ago when I took some organ lessons... Any bluesy player will tell you that alot of classically trained musicians in orchestras have no sense of timing on their own... they rely on the conductor who tells them when to join in... they almost sound robotic in nature when just playing on their own... sometimes learning by ear or learning timing by ear is the better approach... someone who relies on tempo from a metronome is stuck into following the set pattern of timing, a band just "jamming it out" can create some amazing things by just going with whatever they're hammering out...

Welp, enough useless pointless blabber...

Joe!! what's your take on all this stuff... I can guess pretty quick that you don't like the way people handle themselves when "Yngwie" is the topic of conversation... I don't know...

put the best guitar players of the World in a boxing ring with the guitars, amps & gear and let them duke it out with their Rhythms, Leads & their technical abilities and there you have it... let the fans pick who is the best...

Great advice Joe!

woldeface... keep the dream alive man... put your name out into your local musical instrument stores, usually they post bands looking for new members or players that are willing to start out a band on bulletin boards and so forth check for bands in your area online and email them for try outs or whatever...

Personally, I'm 31 years old, been playing for the most part since I was 19 & 20 took some lessons when I was a kid for a couple of years and that's it... I probably won't go anywhere big or anything but I do it for the sheer fun and personal glory... guitar is like my 3rd arm or something. I mean, I've been there thinking as you do. no one likes the same type of music I do that I know of, or is willing to try it... Orillia, Ontario Canada mostly consists of homes for the elderly, homes for the mentally challenged, & the rest are smokin cheap weed... he he

The only time I've ever played live is at Old Age Homes, at resorts & at a street party for a night... I write my own music with the tools at hand... A Casio Keyboard for the Rhythm and my trusty Warmoth guitar & Line 6 Spider is all I use... I just mess and noodle around for the most part,

but anyways, if you're 20 years old and are seriously looking to get into a band my point is get your name out there... BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!! start writing out your own material, record it and burn some demo CDs too, basically to use your ability on CD as a portfolio & hand them out to bands that are looking for members!!! if they can hear what your strong points are on the guitar, then they can start imagining where your abilities might strengthen the band...
