Hey, Joe! Great new look on the web! I just checked out the excerpts from SBM...always a moving experience! My radio release picks are Belly Dancer, Mountain Song and 7 String on top of the ones already planned! You never cease to amaze me! However, Joe, I'm BUMMED about two things - #1:Slick and Eight Steps should be on the CD and (now for the major bummer)#2: YOU and YOU ALONE should play in concert! I can't tell you how depressed I am finding out that all your NY and NJ shows are with DT and Kings X! I know you have alot of respect for DT and all, but personally I'm not a fan of theirs and...I don't want anyone but you (tears...sniffles). Even IF I were a DT fan, I'd want 2+ hours of pure SATCH!!! I really feel like crying. Have I made you feel guilty yet? You still are the king ruler of my musical world but I thought you should know. I still love ya' though.

Hi, Joe! Just a quickie to tell you I was in Van Saun Park in Paramus, NJ at a butterfly exhibit with my girl and what music do I hear piped over but...a smooth jazz version of "Always With Me, Always With You"! Talk about wild! I said to Melissa, "Their playing JOE!!!" The butterflies loved it, too! All the chords, arpeggios and basic melody were there but they changed it a little and had like an alto sax playing the melody with acoustic guitars and keyboards in the background. What are the chances? Totally awesome...definitely heightened MY enjoyment! I'm falling more in love with Mountain Song every day, too - thought you should know! Well, I'm off to another job interview tomorrow so I gotta get some rest. Time for some rockin' JS in the car, that's for sure! Good luck on tour Joe and I'll see YOU in Jersey!

Hi, Joe! Haven't had a chance to post in a while but I miss ya'! Hope the tour is going great - I'm counting the days 'til I see you in Jersey! That majorly sucks about Pearly! What kind of scumbag does something like that-but like you said, you just want it back! Did you get Rain Forest and Donny F. back? I saw them on the site so I assumed you did. Good luck-you don't deserve that. Joe, I'd love to know what goes through your mind when you come up with your songs! I know that part of the fun of listening to music is what you get out of it, but your stuff is so unique. Alot of bands start to sound the same and you get the same mood when you listen to them. Your stuff is touching, sexy, wild, comical...you must have an outrageous outlook and you know how to bring it out! I admire that and your matchless ability and there is no one like you! Rock on! Song of the day-"Clouds Race Across The Sky"-so awesome!

Hey, Joe! Only 16 days 'til the show...whooooo! I have to tell you again though, my heart's still broken about having to see you with DT and Kings X-every minute of Satch is too precious to give up! PLEEEEASE consider an "evening with" show in the NY/NJ area! All the other fans keep talking about meeting you after shows and getting an autograph...I'm jealous!! What do I have to do, guys? I'm bummed about missing the webcasts because they're all on Fridays at 1pm EST and I'm working. I'd take the day off for you, Joe, but I only just started! Anyone know if you can save a webcast somehow? Joe, I thought you might like to know that my husband heard your beautiful rendition of "Sleep Walk" on WDHA in NJ today. All you NJ fans, call DHA...I'm told they actually play Satch sometimes! I gave up on radio and have my trusty CD collection handy-too much blabbing and not enough music! Song of the day:The Forgotten Part II...I had to hit that repeat button...so intense! Nice Joe.

Hi, again, Joe! Hope all's OK but I'm sure you're a bit down about Pearly. You know, I was listening to SBM today and couldn't help thinking of Sept. 11 as I listened to "You Saved My Life" . Maybe you didn't have that in mind when you wrote it, but the itensity of a feeling like that is the same. I was just watching Live in SF tonight AGAIN (my devotion is sad!) and my song of the day just MIGHT be "The Crush of Love"-I get that pit in my heart when I hear it, just like being in love! How awesome! How can I get the studio version of that-I never see it around?? One other thing I have to say is that, apart from being the best at what you do, you are not a stuffshirt and you don't come off with a mean attitude and that makes you ANOTHER cut above! What a joy to watch you play for an audience-I only hope I can see your smiling face from where I'll be in Jersey. I'm bringing binoculars! God bless!

Hi-dy Hey, Joe! Hope everything's cool in Satch world! I thought of you as I struggled with every note TRYING to play my keyboard today-what a dork! I can't manage the most basic stuff and I'd like to play so badly! I kept thinking how incredible you must feel to be so accomplished at an instrument that you can concentrate on the expression of music without bogging down in details of trying to play it! I know I don't devote enough time, but I'm in awe of you and hope you realize how gifted you truly are!. On a different note, I was reading some fans reviews of concerts in the US leg of the tour, awaiting your Jersey show, and nearly everyone said what I've been fearing. NOT ENOUGH JOE!!! I told ya'...you'll just have to come back ALONE. I HAD to get my ticket anyway because I couldn't miss you (even if it is only 1hr. 20 mins) but it's hurting me! Song of the day...The Journey!! I can't get the middle of that song out of my head What a ride! Catch ya' later!

Hi, Joe! Justa quickie to say "hi" after a stressful week-I've been really crankin' the volume this week. Today's CD-Crystal Planet- a most flawless collection. There is not a piece on that CD that is not PRIMO!!! You could not have done it better! My song of the day...Secret Prayer...that song does something to me. I hope your shows have been going the way you want 'em. It seems they're going the way the fans want 'em except they want...say it... MORE JOE!!! 7 days 'til I get the 1 1/2 hrs. of my dreams in Jersey!!!! Psych! Love ya'

Hi, Joe! Well...it's Sept. 11 and after watching only 1 hr. or so of the media coverage today I was a mess. I'm thanking God for my smooth life right now - I just can't imagine the pain of being any closer to the situation than I am...and I'm just anyone. I didn't lose anyone! On one hand, I'm glad their remembering, but I just feel so bad for all the victim's families having to relive it all marathon-style!! Thank you, Joe, for the solace you provided today - I escaped with "Engines" and was reminded what a different but magical CD that is! Admittedly, the first few times I listened to it (except for certain tunes), I was afraid of the techno feel, but you blended it so flawlessly with your own style and it just keeps growing on me! I was all set to pick "Champagne?" for my song of the day, but then "Clouds...' came on and I melted. I'm afraid that one takes it....again! Love it ALL though. See ya' Friday night in Jersey - break a leg (but not really please).

Hi, Joe! I just wanted to say what a great show you put on at PNC in Jersey! I posted my rave review! It was the first time I had the pleasure of seeing you in concert and it was an overwhelming experience! I was such a lunatic...my husband kept looking at me and laughing, like...who is this woman I married? I was so pumped up, I couldn't sleep after I got home...really awesome!! Please come back for an evening with, OK! Well... I missed the freakin' webcast-this sucks! I was so busy the last 5 days or so and I thought it was over Friday-then, I checked today and they ran it on the weekend! Maybe next time! I've been marveling at the diversity of your music lately - well, all the time, really-because I was listening to Bells of Lal in the morning and Cystal Planet's Love Thing in the afternoon!. Hard to believe it's the same artist!!! But that's one of the million things I love about your stuff-there's Satch for every mood! I have to tell you, Crystal Planet is in a close race with SBM and Flying... for best Satch CD. I feel bad even saying that because I happen to love all the others too, especially Joe Satriani. The sounds are so clean and it has attitude. My song of the day...Time! The part in the new time signature after the clock sounds reminds me of scenes in 2001 A Space Odyssey (I think it was) where the ship is going warp and everyone's voice starts slowing down...COOL! You should consider scoring a sci-fi movie, Joe! Enjoy some time off before your Japan dates and knock 'em dead!

Hi, Joe! Had to name my song of the day. "Why" is an incredible song and it was partly (and Surfing) what launched me into the hopeless Joe addiction I have today! Really, I heard "Why" on the radio in New York on a classic rock station a few times in ~'92 and had to have it, so I ran out and got The Extremist. I now have your whole discography except imports or a few small "hits" collections and I get my daily fix of Satch! I wanted to commend your base playing on "Why"...I've always loved it but never realized it was you because I didn't read the credits too thoroughly. Today, I was looking it over and realized you played all the keyboards on The Extremist, too! What DON"T you do? You're an amazingly talented person! Oh, and wild little sketches on the CD booklet! Do you like doing cartoons and stuff for amusement? I don't know what it feels like to have ANY imagination in an artistic way, so I live vicariously through the creativity of people like you! I design mechanical parts in response to utilitarian needs...a totally different kind of creativity. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi, Joe! I had to chuckle the other day because I had Slow Down Blues playing in the car and it was one of those CRAZY days at work. Just as you said, "you got to slow down" in the song, I realized I was doing 55 mph in a 30! You may have spared me a ticket! Anyway...my song of the day must be "You Saved My Life" - what a gorgeous song. I love everything about that song, but especially all the beautiful imbellishment you put in surrounding the tune-so masterful! I rode in silence after that one for a half hour. There was just nothing else I wanted to hear! Hope your chilling out...and maybe dreaming of new stuff already! Peace!

Hey, Joe! You're probably getting ready for Japan now...just wanted to wish ya' luck and to say I was psyched that you're adding "Evening with Joe" shows!! I'll grovel again..PLEASE come to the NY/NJ/CT area-even eastern PA will do! I would JUMP at the chance to see you again live! By the way, at the show in Jersey there were a bunch of DT fans behind us who admitted to only knowing 1 or 2 tunes off of "Surfing". When you started playing, they were like,"We've never heard anything like this guy, man!" When you played "Always With Me..." they were going," It sooo beautiful...wow!" You should feel proud. I only hope they they went out and picked up a few CD's 'cos if they did, they're probably getting addicted right about now! I've missed a few days, so I gotta name a few Songs of the Day! "Speed of Light" because it always puts me in a great mood...in fact I've been into a lot of Time Machine lately! "Engines of Creation" - I can't put my finger on the awesome feeling I get with that song. Well, I know I've picked "Bells of Lal" before, but I can't help it...what an extreme, wild, rowdy song. It's helped me blow off steam nearly every day when I get out of work! I'd LOVE to know what kind of day you had when you wrote it-it kinda covers alot of ground! Thanks for providing the therapy, turning up the heat and keeping me young! Good luck in Japan, Joe!

Hey, Joe! I'm checkin' in every day (if I can) looking for those 'Evening w/Joe' concert dates in NY/NJ! I was listening to Vai's "Living in an Ultra World" today again, and, apart from some songs I really love (like Great Balls of Gold!) I just kept thinking how much more inspiring your stuff is...at least to me. I read in an interview that you like to think about what styles you haven't played yet when you make a new record and experiment. I really enjoy the rock/latin fusion feel of Al Dimeola's 'Electric Rendezvous' and wondered if you ever considered some of that. I like complex music with many moods, tempos, etc. and I find much of that CD truly 'Electric'! The Spanish feel of the percussion and acoustic is awesome. You've already done some fun stuff with Banana Mango II that reminds me of a merengue (spelling?) rhythm...you know what I mean. Anyway...my song of the day...Hill Groove. It's funky, maybe a little jazzy (and I do like some jazz!) and is a definite lifter, which I could use today! Thanks!

Hi, Joe! I was listening to Joe Satriani today and I just wanted to say what an incredible CD that is!! I loved that one from the minute I listened to it...I just love the style and sound. I'd love to hear more from this CD live someday! Cool #9 is fantastic, NO DOUBT...but what about 'If' and "Moroccan Sunset'? Those two are in the toss-up for my songs of the day! 'You're My World' and 'Home are gorgeous songs too...in fact 'Home' brought tears to my eyes every time I heard it for the longest time. Especially efter my Mom passed away in '01, even though we didn't have the closest relationship. Maybe it was because of that, actually...I don't know. Anyway, as usual, my thanks for such an inspirational CD! Just keep doin' what you do!!

Hi, Joe! Is Asia survivin' the Satch tsunami? Hope the shows are going great and you're havin' fun! I've been into "Engines" in a big way for the last 2 days and I gotta put in my last few days' picks of Songs of the Day: "Until We Say Goodbye"...Wow! I think another fan once descibed it as 'caressing'-that's a good word to TRY to describe it, but some things can't be summed up in a word. Just when I thought the CD version couldn't be any more beautiful, I heard the "Live in SF" version and I think your guitar is even more emotional and expressive-awesome! I think I already picked this one before, but...what can I say..."Clouds Race Across The Sky" transports me to another dimension. All the layers of rhythm and the percussion with your gorgeous guitar floating over it-mmmm! A bit of Heaven on Earth! Thanks, Joe, for the soul medicine and keep those "Evening With" dates coming!

Hi, Joe! I finally got a few minutes to say "hi"! I took my 5 year old daughter and her friend to Burger King today and got this Backstreet Boys video with the kiddie meal! Joe...you could really learn something from these guys about marketing yourself and the moves to do in concert! They come down from the sky on floating skateboards, and I told my husband, "Hey, Joe should come down on a surfboard dressed like an alien or something!!" And you should definitely consider the BK video thing! You KNOW I'm kidding! Somehow I don't think you and the Backstreet Boys are selling to the same audience, nor are you in the same league by any stretch! The sad part is, they're filling 70,000 seat arenas...popular appeal is a strange thing! Well, I'll have you know at least MY daughter said, "I like Joe better"! How could she not with a mom who's your biggest fan ever!! Come on Joe...come to NY or NJ again soon! My song of the day is actually from yesterday...I had Surfing on and I had to pick Echos. I have always found that song moving and even sensual in some way-really nice! Rock on!

Hi, Joe! Glad to your back in one piece-sweet dreams! I'm looking forward to some pictures from the Asian shows and new US dates! Not much to say except that my song of the day is "War". Was this song about the Gulf War by any chance? It would've been around that time and it has some middle-eastern phrases in it-just curious! A powerful song! Hey guys...about Alive in an Ultra World-I was just listening to it today again. I usually just do like 5 tunes from the first CD...then I lose the motivation to listen to more. I really enjoy "Great Balls of Gold", "Burning Rain", "Black Forest", "Blood and Glory" but I know what you mean. Sometimes the riffs have parts you swear are Joe's like even in "Great Balls.." - part of it sounds like Turkey Man for a minute there? Still nice though. I've said it before-I just don't find Steve to be as consistent and compelling a writer as Joe by any stretch of the imagination! As far as technical skill, I don't doubt he's awesome, but that doesn't help if you can't get people to stay interested. Vai has some shining moments where he does something mind-blowing like "For the Love of God" but I wouldn't collect his stuff the way I do Joe's. I've blabbed long enough-Joe, you're the best!

Hey, Joe! Just wanted to say again what a work of art "Engines" really is-I've played little else for two days in my car and it has a way of lifting me. I think "Clouds..." has to rank as one of the most beautiful songs of all time and it's becoming dangerous for me to hear that one on the car anymore. It makes me want to close my eyes and float away. In fact, "Engines" has a similar effect on me, like I'm swirling on top of a butte or tall mountain somewhere-really awesome! Thanks for the escape! I really envy your ability to create these moods in a person. I was thinking today what a powerful vehicle for communication music is and wishing that words were as effective in helping you get to someone. Those of us who don't write music are at a loss sometimes! Well...I'm patiently waiting for those NY/NJ dates...come on, Joe!

Hey, Joe! I'm on top of the world...5th row...right in the center in Manhattan! AWESOME! I'll be the one with the lamp shade on my head! No really, I'm extremely pumped up about your "Evening With Joe" show in December...thank you SO much! Two Joe shows in one year...it doesn't get too much better! I went in to edit my set list but I'm having a hard time. On the one hand, I love all the old mainstays BUT there are so many songs I'd love to hear that you never play in concert. There's so much great stuff from Joe Satriani and you could easily play the entire CD of Crystal Planet and that would suit me fine! I could go on and on! Well, the comfort is that no matter what you play, it will be incredible! Keep doing what you do! Thanks again for the NYC show!

Hi, Joe! Great photos from the recent California show! I happen to be a Journey fan also, so I would have liked to be there-however, I was a bummed that they left Steve Perry out of their recent comeback efforts. I liked Neal Schon's playing, especially on older Journey. Anyway, I'm counting the days 'til Dec. 11 when I'll be the nutty blonde in the 5th row embarrassing my husband at your NYC show!! It is gonna be SO AWESOME. Your music puts the teenager in me, Joe...that's a good thing sometimes! I wanted to say how much I was enjoying "Not of This Earth" today! My song of the day....well, it's a tough choice because "Memories" rules but "Hordes of Locusts" has always been a favorite of mine, too. That song really does conjure up images of a plague of locusts descending on Egypt-at least for me! I was curious what (or who) "Brother John" is about. That one sometimes makes me think of a monastery with monks-and no...I don't toke! I'm sure it's ridiculous, but the guitar sounds like it's in an empty space with hard walls-I like it alot. Hope your having some fun between shows (and during your shows!) and that you're already planning some great new stuff for us!

Hey, Joe! Just wanted to say that we put on the Live in San Fran DVD for a friend who had not heard your stuff before. He was very impressed (as I knew he would be) because he enjoys a lot of other similar music. We may have recruited a fan. He told me to check out Robin Trower, too. The name sounded familiar, like maybe he was connected with a band like Yes(?) but I can't remember. Anyone know much about him? I'm told he plays a lot of Hendrix-style guitar music. I adore so much instrumental music in a lot of different styles and I TRY to expand my horizons so I'm not JUST listening to you, Joe, but its tough. You are my favorite artist of all and I never grow tired of your music! I did pick up Ottmar Liebert's "Barcelona Nights" and Al Dimeola's "The Grande Passion" this weekend. The Ottmar Liebert was everything I wanted it to be...chill-out music. It's melodic, very rhythmic and romantic...I was immediately in Barcelona with my sarape, wide-brimmed hat and a giant Marguerita. It's not intense music in any way but serves its purpose! I'm on track 5 of the Al CD and am disappointed...it's not "Electric Rendezvous", that's for sure! Well, those are my reviews, for what it's worth! My song of the day..."You Saved My Life" by a most awesome guitarist and compelling writer named Joe Satriani!

Hi, Joe! 21 days 'til the show in NYC...the excitement is more than I can bear!! I had "Surfing..." on yesterday and was going crazy to "Crushing Day" thinking,"How could Joe say this song sounds '80's??" I don't know Joe...that song rules and is timeless in my opinion-one of my faves on that CD! I've been wondering if it's possible for a writer like yourself to compose a song that you don't like later on (not that that's the case with "Crushing Day" per se)? Also I wonder if you can listen to your own musical creations and really enjoy them, or will a part of you always critique your own work? It would be a shame if you couldn't really love your own stuff, but just knowing how moving it is for others would have to bring immense joy! You have a gift for bringing out emotions and eliciting specific thoughts with your music! I'm curious if that's something you strive for and practice in some way, or is that just the by-product of conveying your own thoughts and feelings? Either way, it's so awesome! Song of the Day..."Down Down Down"-incredible blues. I'd love to see more of the style you did on "Joe Satriani"-the sounds are so clean and detailed. I'd also LOVE to see "Luminous Flesh Giants" in concert!! Whoooo-psych!

Hey, Joe! Happy Thanksgiving! Just wanted to say I'm lounging around watching Live in SF and I have a request to make for the Dec. 11 show in NYC...PLEASE play Time. I'm looking forward to lots of different stuff too, but that song SO rules! Well...don't they all actually. I also REALLY HAVE to see you play The Forgotten Part II live one of these fine days! In fact, even though I submitted my set list, I'm not happy having to omit so many awesome songs-what do you mean you can't play a 6 hour show, Joe?? I'm just kiddin'! I think they should have a Joe balloon in the Macy's parade with Crystal Planet stuff piping over. That would be cooool. You're incredible and would definitely be worthy of such an honor! Keep thrillin' us, Joe!

I was bummed not to win backstage passes, but I wouldn't have the slightest idea what to say anyway. It would just be a mind-blowing overload! I'm looking so forward to the show and hope the freezing rain they're predicting doesn't cause anyone problems...be careful everyone!
