Dizzy I probably dont know half as much as some of the guys on here about the mechanical parts of guitars, but i think i can distinguish the difference between a single coil pickup and a double coil (humbucking) pickup. A single coil pickup is smaller than a double coil so it has a smaller magnetic field therefor picks up less of the string producing a smaller and less heavy sound, on the other hand, a humbucking pickup has twice the magnetic field of a single coil therefor picking up more of the string to produce a bigger sound. Im sure if you ask or want to go deeper into the malarkey of pickups and wotnot then ask some of the regulars on here and they'll probably tell you all you'd ever want to know, i hope i've helped :) lol.....Joe Rules...

r6rocker LOL i've been playing around 7/8 years but only in the last 3 years i've been actually playing the guitar for at least 2 hours if i can, before that i've just borrowed one of my brothers of sisters guitars and had a stum for a hour or two whenever i can really. Im getting alright and have just gone into year 10 at school and am taking music for one of my options to maybe learn all there is to know about music theory since i think its about time i should know. As for equipment i've got a guitar called a patrick eggle vienna pro ( patrick eggle are a company based in birmingham and aren't really that popular but you might have heard of a guitar called a berlin wall which i think was slightly popular but im not sure) i love my guitar and a repair shop guy compared it to a prs which was kinda cool, i've thought about selling it a few times and saving for a js1000 but ive never got round to it, so if by any (highly unlikely chance) anyone has been looking for one of these guitars, email me and i'll get back to ya :) lol, as for effects i've got a zoom 505 series 2 and a morley pro series 2 wah-wah pedal, (im hoping to get more effects this christmas time :-D) and i've got a marshall vs100 r amp. Im not so sure what i'd like to do with my guitar playing, right now and maybe for a few more years till i get to a really high standard i'd like to just carry on practicing in my bedroom but who knows what i'd like to do in a few years time, anyway i think i've answered almost everything you asked about, this is the second time i've typed this out since the first time i deleted it somehow by accident lol......Joe Rules...

Ooops sorry about the double post but i have a joke...please dont take offense anyone lol!

Ok.. A man applies for a job at a building site, and the interviewer for the job says 'ok, you can have the job as long as you go out and buy a hard hat' so the guy wanting the job goes out and buys a hard hat with 'f' and 'b' on it, the interviewer says 'whats f and b for??' so the guy says 'front and back' so then the interviewer says 'ok now you only need some wellies and you can have the job' so the guy goes out and buys some wellies with 'L' and 'r' on each one, so the interviewer says 'whats the L and r for?' and the guy says 'so i know which is left and right' and then the interviewer says....'oh so thats why my wife shops at c and a for her knickers!' ......LOL :-P ....Joe Rules....

Well i've actually been playing guitars since i was about 6/7, but back then i just used to pick one up (everyone in my house plays guitar so theres usually one lying about) and just fiddle around, when i got to about 10 i started trying to play stuff by ear, since about 13+ i've started listening to satch and up until now i've just been learning how to play his stuff but never really gave musical theory a look in, but now im older and more acustom to music lol i've actually started trying to learn how music is put together etc etc. lol hey its really cool knowing that if i get stuck i can 'shout' (lol) here and hopefully i'll get some help. I wish joe would pop in! maybe soon....Joe Rules....
