Hey satch land, does anyone have any experience with a marshall avt 150 head? or any other of the avt series like the avt100 etc, im curious about them because im getting a new amp for chirstmas and i thought i'd do some homework :-D lol. also, i saw a marshall mg100 which looked quite tasty but i didn't get a chance to try it out, any other opinions on this amp would be great too, thanks....Joe Rules...

PhrygianDominant Yeah i saw your stuff about the behringer (spelling) amp, soz i didn't reply! I've never heard of that make before, from other peples opinionsand your owns it certainly sounds like its the business. However, i think i'd be more suited to a mid-range marshall, like the avt150head i was asking about, lol i dunno if this is mid-range but i certainly like the look of this amp and im going to have a go on one in my local guitar shop next time im in town to see if it wins me over or not, thanks for the help........Joe Rules.....

p.s the last bus never came to take me and my chums to school today and i wasn't going to walk the 3 miles to school with my guitar so its a day off for me!, weee! lol...laters...

r6rocker LOL PhrygianDominant Damn you! You beat me to the 'when all this was fields' joke lol! I was reading about clarkys 'g everywhere' thing, but im not sure if i've got it right, i know where each of the 7 positons start but im not sure if i've got the fingering exactly correct, this may take a while to type out but i dunno any other way to explain lol, in 1st position does the exercise go: E(3rd fret) E(5thfret) E(7thfret), then, A(3rd fret) A(5thfret) A(7th fret), then, D(4th fret) D(5th fret) D (7th fret) and then, G(4th fret) G(5th fret) G(7th fret) then B(5th fret) B (7th fret) then E(5th fret) and then back down, note that i wrote the notes there for each string, not the actual note fretted, anyway is this correct? and then u simply get the 7 positions by starting from each following note in the scale (GABCDEF#) i hope i've been clear! any help will be greatly appreciated.....Joe Rules...

Hey guys, take a lookie at this:

So between each set of notes ( except between E-F and B-C ) there will be a sharp/flat note. (e.g. the note between F and G is F# or Gb, they are the exact same note just with a different name)

I pasted this from www.cyberfret.com on the section under scales, i quote 'they are the exact same note' is this correct or are they talking bull?.....Joe Rules....

r6rocker Yeahh!! GTR is my local shop! thats where i talked about trying out that marshall avt150 head lol. Theres a good chance that i might be doing my work experience at gtr guitars towards the end of january next year so if you see a fella with spiky hair and a confused look on his face (from modes doubtably) that'll be me! lol, anyway back to figuring out the wonderful and annyoing word of scales.....Joe Rules...

lol@r6rocker, PhrygianDominant is a big softy really lol. I've just spent a while with the TTSTTTS rule and had a few practice goes at making scales etc and its quite easy and i seem to be getting the hang of it. There's still a lot of things that im not exactly sure of but im sure they'll get ironed out eventually, im gonna keep at it, i've just discovered how easy it is to find notes on the neck too! lol so im quite pleased with myself. Hey maybe i'll see you in GTR sometime if i do eventually get to do my work experience there! Hehe its gonna be hard to try and keep my hands off the Ibanez JEM555 they have there lol. Anyway, back off to scale work i go.........Joe Rules....

Clarky i realise where i was going wrong now at the change over part, but what i dont understand is the second positon, i thought that the second position would be the same pattern as the 1st position but starting on the A,

6th- 5, 7, 8 5th- 5, 7, 9 4th- 5, 7, 9 ....... and so on.....

Are you sure this is right? Lol sorry if im sounding rude it just seems a bit odd to me, i would have thought that the second position would be (in tab)

6th- 5, 7,9 5th- 5, 7, 9 4th- 6, 7, 9 3rd- 6, 7, 9 2nd- 7, 9, 10 1st- 7, 9 2nd- 10, 9, 7 3rd- 9, 7, 6 4th- 9, 7, 6 5th- 9, 7, 5 1st- 9, 7, 5

This is just what seems logical to me, sorry if i am seeming slow or am getting a lot of stuff wrong! lol i just want to get this stuff nailed really, i realise its a lot of typing out every time i get stuck! but any help at all is greatly appreiciated...Joe Rules......

Clarky Thanks for all the help, i'll get there eventually. DragonChild You asked a question about favourite songs of Crystal Planet and Flying In A Blue Dream right? Well i'd say my fave of CP is...tricky one....they're all good....but i think i do like Ceremony...it was either that or Lights Of Heaven, but Ceremony is just so atmospheric, my favourite off FIABD would have to be Flying In A Blue Dream itself of course mainly due to the outstanding solo! Im about half way through learning it at the moment, maybe i'll get it finished when Keith Richards pops his clogs...(never) ......Joe Rules.....

potato head guy I think you're refering to a technique that Joe created, its bascially sweeps right your left hand whilst muting the strings with your right hand which crosses over your left arm lol kinda hard to describe, hard to do at first but with solid practice you'll get it eventually, i've been learning the mystical potato head groove thing sweeps for a while now and they're actually starting to sound pretty decent, heres a link to a picture of Joe doing the sweeps to help give you a better idea of what i'm blabbering on about http://www.satriani.com/2000/road/lwpg.cgi?start=0;showkey=joe-5;dir=2000-07-02/;showimg=2000-07-02/joe-5.jpg .........Joe Rules......i hope that link worked....
