anyway...we get to write and play a song live for post production..hmm..perhaps if i steal the beginning of pull me under..put a guitar-guitar-bass unison in..maybe a drum solo...play each others guitar (live vai and macalpine from the london dvd)...the simpsons bit in the middle...and some cool riffs...i think i might do that. all for showmanship...who cares if it doesn't make sense? oh..and not forgetting to put it all in something other than 4/4

you think a dog would like a hair dryer in its face with dead flies been thrown at it...

then why do they stick their heads out of their window of a car going along the motorway??

strange animals.

SOTD - Only a Matter of Time - DT
SOTD (solo of the day) - Bad horsie - Vai.

an evening with Jordan Rudess and John Petrucci absolutley kicks ass. its a must have in your record collection!!

sotd (song of the day) - any off that album :)

sotd (solo of the day) - hollow years, new york city, 2004. Dream Theater (of course). it kicks ass...and its not on the studio album..or any album for that matter :)

and the acm sucks...its boring, uninteresting, patronising and just annoying...i would quit if it didn't cost so much fucking money.pre-production/live performance - boring songs i dont want to learn. pete friesen (alice coopers ex-guitarist) is a great guy and guitarist, makes the lesson more interesting than it should be. theory - feels like the tutor is insulting my intelligence on this. he's a great guy but this part of the course is a piece of piss and the way he teaches is it is too patronising. Technical development - learining scale shapes doesn't constitute technique. dave kilminster, great guitar player (a bit wierd in the head maybe), but he doesn't exactly go through techniques, but then again, they're not on the course for some reason session styles - 2 hours of worthless crap looking at pop music, not guitar geniuses. then again, pretty much all of the class (me included) can not play petrucci, gilbert, vai and stuff at their speed. sight reading/ear training - perhaps the only useful lesson to me, but the way they go about it isn't quite to my style of learning stuff. buisness studies - could easily fall asleep in it...like most of the lessons above.

Neil..you got my email and txt?!?!?

trutina..yeah..i did think about quitting during last term, and i said to myself that it would get better this term, so far, not so good. only week 2, but looking ahead in the course notes, it doesn't look too good.

VFrocker...i'm trying to see a good side...but its not just the acm thats getting me down..its life in general...and just so happens that if i didn't go to the acm things would be better. i want to progress..but i'm not...even if things were progessing slower than what i wanted, i would be a bit happier..at least i would be getting somewhere...but i'm not, i'm not learning anyting new, maybe the odd bit of info here and there thats looked at in a slightly different way but nothing life changing...and thats the annoying bit.

clarky...while i do agree my attitude does need sorting out...its just life in general as i said just above to rocker dude. my first guitar was a fender rikter costing £70 from my mate down the road...but yet i played it as though it was a jem. i was pretty much on my own till i got the internet in about january feburary 2002 (i think..or 2001..i cant remember). i still write with a guitar, a pen and some paper, i dont play through an amp as much as i should i guess..but then thats probably the way i am. i try to learn from my record collection...and that has grown a bit because i have the internet, i wouldn't of heard of paul gilbert, or malmsteen, or kings x and these other bands. i learned of dream theater from a mate of my brother who i know. my home recording i tend to set up is going to cost me a small fortune...it will seem a small fortune to me anyway. i dont know what to learn, i know i have gaps in my knowledge, but dont know what they are.

thanks for the help and a kick up the arse..i need it.

clarky...maybe we can sort out another jam before the end of term...fire me up for the exams perhaps...as for your post...i agree with them all..what you said about a new scale or chord and creating things around it..i might try it...although eveey new idea i come up with, i want to include it in a song i'm writing...so maybe i can change that..have a little jam on my own...that can pass the time...i did that last night was making up some riffs for this end of term performance exam i got to do...that was fun. i might do that with chords...get used to new chords, work out chords i dont know the fingerings too like 9ths, 13ths etc...as for the gaps in my knowledge..i did go thru your theory posse and understand it...i just got to apply that info into playing. when i jam along with songs i use an amp. as for learning songs, before, i used to just learn the lead lines which my guitar teacher worked out. now..i'm looking at the song and looking for the structure, key changes, i do that when listening to songs..sometimes more consiousclesly than other times. (maybe i need a dictionary too). as for your summer thing...virgins and non-virgins to de-frock and stuff...lol!! i'm not like that!

novjul..yeah...thanks..

trutina...haha...nice plan, except i dont drink and i haven't got any...well..you know..*cough*...

phrydom..what sort of "homework" are you thinking about? porn videos? lol :P

as for riffs...what about Van Halen? or Aerosmith?

thats it..im bored of trawling thru posts...upto Friday may 7th at about 12pm website time....

clarky...when can you make a jam? it'll have to be at the weekend like last time..on a saturday i think it was. a few days ago i worked out the shapes of maj9, min9 and dom9 chords using the caged system and my guitar, i need to go back to that and mess around with it. same with 11th chords and 13th chords. also theres inversions too...i can make them up as i go along...changing the bass note to go from one chord to the next. as for the virgin famine...the right time will come...i could put a dirty joke here..but i wont...i think you can figure it out..lol

clarky...bored with acm? yeah..kinda.. any news about the jam? dont post it on here..i'm likely to miss it...so txt/phone/email is best..carrier pigeon might get lost or eaten...smoke signals might attract the fire brigade and police and morse code might upset the ministry of defence...

clarky...work..pain in the ass isn't it? let me know as soon as possible..if not..then some time in the summer me and mowlie can travel down (we live quite close together) and have a 3-way jam, if we can all squeeze into your little studio...
