Just a quick hello to everyone here in the group - I have posted a few times, but have not really gave a greeting to everyone.

I know I read this on this board. Then again, I think I know alot of things...

At any rate, somebody was talking about some kind of tea that Steve Vai drinks to maintain his dexterity (or so they say the tea does this). I'm curious to know what this magic tea is so I can fall victim to marketing.

jblaze: I heard that "House Full of Bullets" remake on SportsCenter, and also heard "Love Thing" being played on CBS during the college football season when they were doing some short piece on one of the players. It was funny 'cause my sister was channel surfing, and I heard just about a second and a half of Joe's wah and I said, "TURN THAT BACK."

Soon...everyone will know.

Happy Friday!

I've got a technique question for all of you. Your input is greatly appreciated.

I've got three notes per string: |-3--5--7-| that's the tab. I am playing this (have been) with my index finger on 3, my ring finger on 5, and my pinky on 7. Should I change the ring finger to the middle finger on the fifth fret?

I have seen people do it with the middle finger on 5. Can't really ask if it is "wrong," but I guess I'm wanting to hear that it doesn't matter how I do it as long as it is comfy.

Later, -MS

Hey guys, I got another guitar technique question...hope it is o.k. to post here, I'm pretty stressed about it.

I play modes and stuff 3 notes per string, doing two octaves. Some kind soul directed me to a better fingering, and I made the adjustment.

The problem lies within the hand position. Some modes are more difficult to play than others (e.g., Aeolian). Is it better to barre the notes and sort of not move my wrist at all or better to sort of gradually move the palm of my hand toward the neck when I'm playing them?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated, and I wish I could show some people, but I'm at a disadvantage 'cause there are 0 guitar players around here. Thanks kind souls, and Happy 4th of July.

Hey everyone. Graduated from college on Friday with a degree in Information Systems! My 'rents got me a new Ibanez RG420gx as a gift. :)

It is my first experience with a floating tremolo. And it is a bit frustrating. I'm looking for a bit of guidance.

It is only a few days old. But whenever I go way down on it or way up on it, it'll throw my guitar (specifically the g and b strings) out of tune. However, if I go way down then go way up then wiggle it around a bit, it'll be straight in tune.

It's almost like the trem isn't returning to the starting position or something. Could this be the case since it is only a few days old (less than a week)?

Thanks, -MS
