I was wonderin' a few things

1.Are your dreams as a experienced musician the same as when you started?? 2.Do you have the same 'drive' to go on stage as when you started??

P.S...When I say 'as when you started' I mean at the time that you began to be known as the solo artist Joe Satriani in '84 with your EP and your big first debut album Not Of This Earth in '86..

Hey folks how are ya??

I've been playing guitar for almost 7 years now,I practiced a lot so I know a couple of things.But its useless because I have the biggest problem in history,I can't keep up a beat...and having all the knowledge I acquired these years mean nothing if you don't have a good tempo.I practiced with a metronome..nothing.I think this is something in my head that has to be flicked.I'm desparate...sometimes I think I should just drop the whole thing and do something else in life but I live of music..this is insane.I even think of not going back to school in music..I'm clueless and scared because I know that I won't be able to go any further with music until I solve this problem....any clues how I can learn to have a good tempo for the rest of my life???

MISCHIEVOUS-I can feel(hear) the rhythm in a song but here is an example:You put a song,I feel the rhythm.you put it mute(while the song still play) when you put the sound back..I'll be off-time...I can listen to a song millions of time that I'll know it by heart..and I won't be able to play(or 'huming) it perfectly(note timing I mean) will always be too late or too early...same with the metronome.

I think this is something I have to work without the guitar and even music....rhythm is something you get when you're born..you have it or you don't...this isn't something that there exists progress..you are in time or you are off.Like riding a bicycle,I believe that once I'll feel the rhythm,I'll never lose it..this is something I have to feel.I can't exteriorate something I haven't 'interiorate'..

HEY I'm so happy!! I passed my exams in the auditive formation course:):) that includes sight-singing, rhythm sight singing,swing singing.. hear writing(you write what you hear)..rhythm writing and harmonic+contrapeutic writing!!!

that exam was easier than expected...only theory exam left..I'm lucky because I assimilate it pretty fast..
