Joe, I saw you in both London and Birmingham on the 18th and 19th*********thankyou!

When I was in Birmingham I asked a security person to mention to you that "Karma burger" says hello. Did he do this at all?

Joe, when you played in England I noticed that you had the same guitar strap as me - the one depicing the "Roswell" incident!!!!

I was delighted when I saw it!

Joe, is it true that you come outside the venue after your gigs to sign autographs?

If you did this in London and Birmingham then I'm DEVASTATED to have missed you!!

I am truely desparate that one day soon I'll get to meet you so we can chat at length and be really good friends (if ever I'm being unrealistic here then I've got to remember your words: "I BELIEVE IN MY DREAM" !!!!!).

Thanks

So sorry about your guitar Joe. It's just not fair. You've had stuff stolen before haven't you? You're so unlucky. Hope it comes back soon.

Joe, were you (or any fans reading this) aware that there has been a TRIBUTE ALBUM made to JOE SATRIANI and STEVE VAI?

It is called 'LORDS OF KARMA' and features 5 Satch songs and 5 of Steve's by different artists.

Deserved recognition!

I didn't see it advertised on your website. Are people in general aware of it I wonder?

Joe, can I make a suggestion on behalf of a friend of mine.

He'd like to see you do a traditional VOCAL-STYLE album with a specific specialist singer (like Vai's 'Sex and Religion').

We've both been massive fans of yours for years and feel this would be an interesting avenue to explore.

How do you (or any Satch fans) feel about this please?

Let us all prey that Joe includes "WAR" on the new DVD.

This is one of my favourite songs but I have never heard Joe play it live in the 7 times I have seen him. It has one of the most amazing solos in all history!

Hopefully there will be a few different songs to "live in san francisco" so we can have even more of Joe's repertoire to watch.

IF ANYONE THINKS THESE ARE GOOD IDEAS, PLEASE SUPPORT ME PASSIONATELY (AND MAKE COMMENTS) TO TRY TO GET JOE INTERESTED :

1)

My main idea is for there to be a kind of 'Satch Fest' (like the 'Ozzfest') tour where all of Joe's famous former pupils come together in tribute for a kind of 'mega G3'. Joe could headline?

It really bothers me that Joe hasn't received the true widespread recognition he deserves and I would hope that having bands like Metallica there (because of Kirk Hammett)and the Counting Crows would boost his profile.

I think it would be a fascinating mix of styles, varying from the Crows to Vai and Metallica and the now jazz-rock of Alex Skolnick.

The whole thing would definitely have to be released on DVD!

It may be difficult to organise but you can't blame me for suggesting it!

2)

It would be good if on this 'Satch-fest' tour (or anytime) if Joe could release a timeline DVD of concert footage throughout his career so we could get to see earlier tours. It could feature one or two songs from a concert in a particular year, building up so we have a large repertoire from all the albums. Let's have loads of songs altogether!

It might be relevant to release material from 'The Squares' as well (or at some point). I am sure Satch fans would love to hear this stuff.

3)

The collaboration of Metallica with the San Fracisco symphany orchestra to make 'S and M' in 1999 was brilliant (I thought). I think it would be really interesting to see Joe do something similar and hear his music with a classical background.

Thanks everyone (and Joe - if you're reading)!

IF ANYONE LIKES THIS IDEA PLEASE BACK ME UP TO TRY TO GET JOE INTERESTED!

Joe,

When you release your new studio album, could you perhaps release a DVD of the recording of the final takes as well as the cd audio?

With your material it is not just the music but watching you play it that is part of the experience - because it is such an art form. We're all gobsmacked by your technique!

Thanks

Joe,

About a fortnight ago you did an interview with Adrian Clark of 'Guitarist' magazine in the Uk.

He is a friend of mine and I believe he mentioned me, saying that I was a massive fan!!!!

Hi Joe fans!

I would like to post up some ideas. If you like them, please loudly support them to try to get Joe interested!

1)

Joe’s contribution to music lies not only in his guitar playing but in the players he’s produced. It would be great to see a concert celebrating this. What about getting all his now-famous students together in to a concert or tribute tour of concerts? Rather like G3, each artist could perform some of their own work, Joe could do his stuff and maybe they could all jam at the end? Or something along these lines.

It would be a brilliant show as you have such an array of musical styles – Charlie Hunter with his jazz, Alex Skolnick doing jazz-rock, Steve Vai with technical guitar rock etc.

David Bryson and Kirk Hammett would work out extremely well – their respective groups, ‘Counting Crows’ and ‘Metallica’ are huge acts and would really help to promote him and sell the show (hopefully they could play with their groups, but if not could still appear on their own). As there would be many acts each one would maybe play only a few songs or alternatively if you wanted longer sets from each it could be made to last more over an afternoon and evening.

Next year Joe celebrates his 50th birthday. Perhaps it would be ideal and relevant to stage this around that time?

An idea for a name for the whole thing could be ‘The Satchfest’ (as in the tribute to Ozzy Osbourne being ‘The Ozzfest’).

A DVD of the shows would be very important and in great demand I think.

p.s. please come to England as this is where I live!

2)

Another thought I had would be for Joe to release a timeline of concert footage throughout his career, from the early days until now. It could include different gigs, with as many different songs as possible, a certain amount off each album perhaps. It would be great to also include pieces that haven’t currently been released on DVD eg. ‘Not of this Earth’, ‘The Snake’, ‘War’, ‘New Blues’ etc as well as standards. This could be done with maybe 3 or 4 DVDs in one package.

With his music, it is so important to see the material being performed rather than just listening to it. It is so impressive to watch him play, to see how he ‘crafts’ his songs through the guitar, and adds a whole new dimension to the ‘Satriani experience’. I’m sure fans would be really interested in a visual documentary/anthology-style thing such as this, especially the early gigs aspect as we don’t have anything from that era. Maybe Joe could give audio commentary over the various stages and albums of his career being covered.

Also, I’m sure we would be intrigued to hear the songs from Joe’s days with ‘The Squares’. Maybe these could be released as well as part of a retrospective of his career?

Perhaps it would be appropriate to issue all of this to coincide with ‘The Satchfest’ and his 50th birthday?

3)

And finally, in terms of new musical direction, I would love to see Joe perform his music with a classical orchestra – like Metallica with the brilliant ‘S and M’ (from which a DVD could be done!). Maybe also an acoustic album, a jazz album or a collaboration with a singer (like Vai’s ‘Sex and Religion’) would be interesting ideas?

Cheers everyone.
