Try the "mark current as last read" option at the bottom of each message and you'll understand Jon's choice... it works wonder

cds are pressed in 3 different locations : USA for the whole american continent, Germany for Europe and Asia, and Japan, obviously for japanese market. So, if the japanese cd has a bonus track, chances are that none of the other pressed cds will have the same.

"Slick" has not been incorporated in any cd (yet?). So, today is 13th, and worldwide release is on 25th, I'm certain that all cds are already on their way to the stores, so putting an extra track is impossible. Maybe we can expect a bonus track cd, much in the like of "additional creations"

Joe I was wondering ... Do you like playing in odd time signatures ? I'm probably wrong, but I can't recall any song of yours (with drums) that are in a different signature than 4/4 ...

I agree with you Matt. What I don't understand is why people NEED to complain about something they haven't listened to YET ! On the site you can find SAMPLES, so dammit, wait till the 25th, go to the cd shop, give the new CD a spin, and then you decide wether you like it or not !

Every Satch cd is Joe's BEST EFFORT in a different direction, I don't know many artists that put so much dedication to each new album. And at least for that, you have to respect his work.

I'm tired of people saying 'we want "summer song", we want "Always" ...' Joe is playing them EVERYTIME so maybe you should go out and listen to some other songs, because all of Joe's repertoire is filled with great music and ideas, sometimes it just takes more than one listen to appreciate it fully.

Peace to all

Nobody's pissed. As every artist at one point of their career, Stu needed to move on to pursue his own way.

I'm sure we will see at some point in the future some other collaboration of Joe and Stu, who knows, maybe on Stu's next album ?

Musical_Mania : I agree, I suggested this to the webmaster a week ago and it seems he hasn't found the time to reply yet. let's wait and see, maybe he is already working on it.

btw, anyone else noticed how "You saved my life" has the same feel as "Home" ?

Gizumo : I'd be curious where you got the idea that there will be a concert in Tokyo ... Haven't seen even a hint of a date in Asia/Oceania... but hey, the dates of the tour don't appear here first (how curious) so let's hope for the best...

Tks Mike. About the Tokyo show... that's cool, i hope I can attend, coz i have a biz trip to Korea planned around that date... fate is against me it seems... i'll be sure to check again every other day when the tickets are going on sale.

But I still wonder why satriani.com is THE LAST PLACE where all the tour dates appear. You would expect them to pop up here first !

Mr NICK : first of all, stop using the F word and calm down. and second, you're probably not the only one streaming from that site. try a bit later. third : tks for not making your post ALL in CAPS and bold : that will help my eyes recovering from the 'nice' vocabulary you use.

good point, but I think that the posts with 'bad words' are actually posted by some of the younger satch fans.

Anyway, maybe the mighty Jon Luini will reply to our query ?

Am I the only one that noticed that the arpeggios in Mind Storm are EXACTLY the same as the ones in Crushing Days ?? Who said Joe's new stuff never gives the impression of "déjà heard" ??

Anyways .... I want "Slick" ! I want "Slick" !

"Slick" as special "Additional Beautiful Music" cd !!!!!!!!! Anybody with me ?

@Austin : "Eight Steps" ... look at my "location" under my name... and you'll see that this track IS on my cd...

Now for the review of it : This track is very special. It doesn't quite fit to the whole SBM atmosphere, but it's very classic Satch. Think "Not of This Earth" meets "Crystal Planet". The melody is very 80ish, yet the solos, because Joe uses the Ultimate Octaver to get that "crystal planet solo" sound, gives this "new Joe" impression. Well, this track is built on some exercise Joe came up with at that period. The extract on this site doesn't quite give a true idea of what it's really about. The song starts with chorused clean melody, then the site's extract blends in. (it's actually the main theme of the song)

Then after, it's a looooong solo, mostly improvised IMO.

This is why it's a bonus track : the song seems incomplete.

But, it's definitely a great song to jam on... like all Satch songs.

@Ovation1 : yeah, well, was no real big deal over here, south of Tokyo bay/Yokohama was hit pretty bad I heard, Today is really hot and humid (as usual) and no clouds in the sky ... weird weather.

Yup, would be great to get together for a satch concert ! (though I checked the venues that were posted a while ago here, for Japan, and they had somebody else listed on the same day)

Okinawa ! man, I've always wanted to go there... I've seen so many beautiful pictures of this place...

I'll go back to work now ;-)
