Hope everyone's doing well...I'm about to go play soccer for the second time today...last time was 2 hours for class and this will be with a few friends. LOTS of exercise today...hopefully that'll help get rid o' this gut!

I only like Hagar because he's one of the few popular band members that have appeared on album covers with a Dean. Cool stuff.

Alexandre: I'm doing well. Going home this weekend for my mom's birthday...she's gonna be shocked to see me, which is always cool. I have to write a paper about the Brazilian Tropicalia phase of music this weekend, which should be really cool. I loved learning about it, so it will be one of the few interesting papers I get to write in my last semester of literature classes. Other than that I'm doing fine. Still waiting on some T2J CD's to come out and waiting to get some cash so I can buy PhryDom's stuff. Hope your father and you are doing well.
Guitar_Chicken: here's how I was taught. Set the side of your palm (pinky side) on the bridge just below where you would be palm muting, at a 45 degree angle with the strings. Using only 1/16 or so of an inch (the pointy end, of course), of your pick, just pick up and down really fast. When you're playing you want to come from above the string, kind of like you're attacking it. I know some people tend to move their whole hand up and down, using their whole arm, but I find it's best to try to only use your wrist. I also tend to choke up on the pick so that finger comes up to where you can only see the bottom quarter of the pick. Using a Dunlop pick, you can almost see the size (L on mine). One song you may want to work on is the theme from Pulp Fiction (forget the actual name of the song but I think it's by Dick Dale). Good luck.

Finally got some of my own stuff up. Don't be too brutal...I don't own a metronome and I was playing an electric riff on my acoustic, but the main point is that I finally have something online that I wrote. Joeman9: yeah the forum's gone...we were the only people posting on it now that Dave's back on here, so there was no point. Plus the server that my site's on got switched, so I would have had to change like 20 filenames over to that server's info.

Aerosmith/Cheap Trick in Sunrise was pretty good...Cheap Trick was kinda boring. Sorry if this is a double post but I'm 15 pages behind ;-p
Alexandre: The paper went well, but my prof was mad that I wrote about something that I had already taken a class with him about. Whatever...screw him. As long as I get a C in the class I graduate with the same degree, so I'm not really worried. Looking forward to Dave's CD. Thanks for the bday wishes for my mom!

Mikey Vai...great song. I heard that version of I'm Like a Bird a year or 2 ago. Loved it then and still do.

Well, just learned Wipeout, Behind Blue Eyes, relearned Wonderwall (no jokes...trying to work on singing while playing and for some reason that's one that I was always able to do) and worked on recording my own version of Flake by Jack Johnson. It was a good day.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to put less pressure on the fretboard? I am realizing lately that I use much more pressure than I need to and if I wanna have any chance of being decent at sweep picking I'd better calm it down.

My friend Brian is and it has ruined the last 2 years of his life, considering the fact that he hardly can talk to his own father now and is made fun of everywhere he goes. If he could choose, he's specifically told me that he wouldn't be...it's NOT something you can control.
