Well, me and my girlfriend both missed out on the backstage passes...it's amazing how three people who I've never seen post on the site before won...they probably won't even pick up their passes and I miss out on meeting my favorite guitarist ever after paying 75 bucks a seat to be in the front row. Oh well...what can you do? Alan P.S. Karloff, what the hell is up with the repeated posts? Here's a thought...just because you post the same thing every 5 minutes STILL doesn't mean Joe's gonna see it.

Austin: I know that's the only fair way to do it...just bothers me anyway...I'm not pissed but I really wanted those passes, just like anyone else here would.
OCPS470: Yeah I'm in my last year at UF and then I'll be down at FAU for the MSIB program, then hopefully back here for law school. I love it here...have you visited the campus or just had friends here? Sadly, the Swamp isn't as scary as it used to be.

Fused9: I know how you feel. I go from Gainesville to Boca on Friday to see G3 in WPB and I was actually planning on going to the Orlando show as well but my Dad convinced me not to...now I miss out on not one but 2 chances in the same weekend to meet my idol. [b]Ladymuffini[/], YOU BETTER ENJOY THOSE PASSES! I know I would.

Well guys...just one more day and I'll be seeing Joe, Steve and Yngwie up close! I can't wait! Joe, look to your right in the front row at the WPB show and you'll see a HUGE smile on a 21 year old's face!

Holy SHIT! over 20 pages in 1 weekend...I will NOT be reading everything lol. Well, here goes.
Well, I just got back from Boca from a weekend of guitar watching and playing. Friday night, me and Susan (my girlfriend) went to the G3 show in West Palm Beach, FL. I have to say, I wasn't as blown away as I expected. First of all, we had front row tickets, sitting about 3 feet from the stage, which would have been great. BUT, security was pretty much nonexistant, and people were shoving in front of my seat the whole time, which severely cheesed me off. In my opinion, if you pay for a front row seat and are lucky enough to get online and try REALLY hard to get it, you deserve it. If you have 20th row seats, you have 20th row seats. Plus, Susan got pushed around by one of the jackass guards who was trying to go THROUGH all the people standing in front of us instead of actually doing something about it. Anyway, here goes. It all started out with Yngwie Malmsteen and a friggin' WALL of Marshall stacks. His tone was ok, but his rig died completely 2 times during his set. A lot of 80's cheesy kicks and more guitar throwing than I've ever seen before. He played twice with his tongue and once with his AMP! His set was actually much better than I expected, since I had heard 5 or 6 of his songs before, and to me, they all sounded the same. I liked the violin effect, but if it was an eBow, doesn't that go on your finger? Anyway, he must have tossed out about 60 picks during the show and he probably kicked about 10 of them.
Steve Vai put on the best show I've ever seen, PERIOD. He is the best entertainer I've seen in my life. Between starting out with his tripleneck Ibanez, blowing the guitar to cause harmonics, playing with his tongue and playing with his TREM ARM, his set was amazing. Tony McAlpine is an awesome guitarist as well, and the two playing together is simply a sight to see. Vai was also looking at me and Susan during half of his set because he saw that we couldn't get the smiles off our faces. During the jam session, he actually posed for me...I'll post the pic when Susan gets off my laptop (probably tomorrow). It was a very personal show for me, and the fact that he ended his set with "For the Love of G-d," my favorite of his songs, helped a lot...we had a call and response session just between the two of us during the song by nodding our heads while he was playing one part, which just made my night.
Next came the man, Joe Satriani! He had some of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen, including a blue flamed guitar with the body as orange snakeskin (better to post pics than describe...coming soon). He opened, as usual, with Satch Boogie, and seeing that I was playing air guitar the way he was actually playing, he gave me a big smille. After the song, I screamed out "T2J loves ya, Joe!" and he gave his typical "Alright!" and gave me a wink. Later, during the jam session, he posed for me as well, which was really cool. I loved his set, but I honestly enjoyed it more last year, probably because of all the people shoving themselves in front of me. I usually wouldn't mind, but there were so many people that I couldn't even stand in front of my seat anymore because I wouldn't have been able to see (mind you, I was in the FRONT ROW and this was the situation). Overall, it was a great set though.
The last part was the Jam session, which ROCKED! Joe and Steve had obvious chemistry. Yngwie fit in ok, but he just didn't seem quite right with them (although he still rocked). Anyway, I got some cool shots of the 3 guys playing together and the chemistry between the three of them actually wasn't as bad as everyone's been saying, but you could definitely tell who didn't fit in.
Anyway, pix to come. I'll post a link when I get them up.

Austin: I know how that whole paper thing goes...last Thursday I had a 3 page critical review of a critical review of a story, all in Portuguese (yes, I typed that right) that I started doing research for at 12 pm and finished at 11 PM.
CrushingDay: I think pick CATCHING should be the sport...if you read my review you'll see that I almost got my arse kicked about 5 times trying to catch picks...some guy started pushing my hand away and I literally had to slap him to get him to stop!
Zachary: His picks were black at the WPB show, so he might have just run out by the time the next show came up.

Mick87: LMAO! I've actually done stuff like that to piss off friends while we're jamming!

Alexandre: DAMN that guy's amazing! I hope I can do that one day!
Geniuser: I think that venue just isn't meant for concerts...they had 90% of their staff over the age of 60 and the sound tech's weren't doing a great job by any means. The sound in general was JUST OK, but at a show like that you expect it to be spot-on. I still had a great time tho.
Thanks, Nico! You're site has saved me HOURS of midi time!
Chris Peters: The "Yngwie Who" shirt says "Yngwie Fucking Malmsteen, that's who!" on the back...sorry just wasn't sure if you knew. They were selling them at the stand at the WPB show and I'm sure at the HOB show as well.
BTW, I forgot to add that Steve threw out Halloween candy to everyone, which I thought was cool...He also played the Halloween movies' theme song. He also played the triple neck along with his bassist at the same time!
More to come later.

Stu M: thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely check it out when I get some cash.
Amuletum: Nice pix! Are you from Gville, FL? I'm a current student at UF, so I'm just curious.
If you guys wanna see my concert pix, go to www.clubphoto.com and put in a_schwartzseid@hotmail.com as the "friend's email." Just skip thru the Mexico Pix (unless you wanna see them, of course) and go to the G3 pix and G3 pix 2 albums. There are about 115 from the WPB concert and 15 or so more from when me and Susan met Sister Hazel.

Jake49ers, sweet pic! And I thought I got some sweet pix!
Just curious, anyone happen to have either a V, SG, or Strat shaped body for sale cheap? I'm looking to put together a little project guitar that would look ridiculously cool, but it's gonna end up costing me some serious cash. Just lemme know. Thanks!

About file sharing: I think it's ok if you use it the way I did until the whole lawsuit thing started. I'd download 4 or 5 songs from each CD that I considered buying. If I liked them enough, I bought the CD. If not, all but maybe one song got deleted. The only way the recording industry lost money on me is if the CD sucked.

Johnny Aimless: I, too recently tried to join the Vai forum, but it says you'll get an email with your password in a day or 2, and I still haven't gotten it. I understand the concept of moderation, but they seem to take it a little beyond what's necessary. Maybe they've had huge problems before...who knows.
My girlfriend got me that mag with the 80's stars...haven't gotten to look at it much yet, but most of it's just tabs from what I see.
Sugarplum, I like all but a few on Engines.
